Yeeees! Ive gone through two different Occidental pouches and i always cut that little upper pouch off and add a tape holder, i find it funny that the tape holders are always on the "cheap" belts and never on the more expensive ones

If anyone is wondering, this buckaroo works with the occidental leather suspenders however you will need to use the accessories it comes with at least on the back side of the belt because it has 3 loops for the suspenders instead of 4. But the 2 in the front will work

I think you've done an excellent job of explaining your reasons for choosing this set up, and listing pros and cons even other people might care about. I'd like to see your tools in the pouches, especially the rear multi-tool hammer loop thing. I might do that, too.

Good in-depth review. Would the blade of a 12" combination square fit in the rear outside leather loop of the left hand bag (where you said you might put a cat's paw? Also, it would be very useful to see the belt loaded with the particular tools you use.

I'm looking at this exact belt , right now I have occidental fat lips with a full 3m 3 ring safety harness because I was post framing and production framing . .... now I'm doing remodels, and punch out type stuff. So I'm trying to ditch the harness for several reasons weight being one . ..... also swing a Martinez M1 .

I'm on the fence about the m1. Boss has it and I've used it a few times. The heavy head is good for burying nails but feels harder on my wrist to raise. Maybe my tb3 has me pampered a bit...

I literally have the same bags setup. Left side is a dream, right side has been a struggle for years. I’m running the stronghold shoulder straps and the belt less system and I love that. My issued is the nylon belt in the rear of the belt less system angles the hammer loop so it’s really annoying to get it in. I’ve tried other occidental bags and add ons on my right but nothing has ever been as good as my left. Anyways I’ve decided to order a diamondback right side pouch with their hammer holster and try that.

The diamondback pouch is awesome, just needs to break in a bit more. I’ve only had it a few weeks. The hammer holster keeps the pouch riding nicely at my side. The rest of the pockets and holders are in intuitive spots. I also got their gun loop for hanging drills or nailers and it’s a sweet bit of kit. I think I finally found “the one” lol. It’s the Talon pouch that I got.

@@jonathanpopham5483 been using my new setup for about a month now. Love it. The hammer holster makes my bag rest in place and doesn’t swing it forward or backward like a traditional hammer loop has been. The bag sits pretty tight to the body but the pouches open up when you need to place or grab a tool. They are still breaking in in that way but not issues there. It’s way easier to draw and sheath the hammer, hard to explain but it’s a very ergonomic action to do. (I call it that now because it’s like drawing a sword and sheathing it when you put your hammer away hahaha) I picked up diamondback’s clip on gun loop as well. Great for hanging a framing nailer, drill or brad nailer.

Hey there master crafted! About the size of your buckaroo belt, did you use the recomandations of buckaroos website? And do you have to work outside in winter and take this in consideration. I previously bought a diamondback toolbelt and I'm a litle bit disapointed about the size heres why: When worn in summertime ( without winter clothings ) or inside, to the tightest setting it is to loose. When in wintertime i loosen the belt and the tool bags are more twords my back it's kind of an uncomfortable reach. Plus, the size adjutment is not userfriendly as a traditional leather belt is. Lastely the fastner pokets are way to tight for my big hands + gloves in winter. ( wrangell ) There you go, for those trying to buy a toolbelt this might be usefull! I think there is not one belt that is perfect you kind of have to custum build it yourself like you did! Happy new year!

You probably ordered the wrong size and bag. I’ve been enjoying my diamondback grrande setup for a while now. My bags are up front which i like.

First set of tool bags and belt from Occidental looks like it gave up the ghost about 2 miles back. Time to give it a eulogy and send it home.

As a construction worker with a belly bigger bags work a lot better for me than the bags that are tight against the skin

Nice job buddy! I wonder how diamondback bags fit on this belt? It's really hard ti find out what you really want when you cant try these belts in any stores. The only way is to buy them abd return them if not satisfied. Kind of a bummer.

Check out Graber harness and saddlery. He's a leather worker in Indiana. For near the same price, he can make you custom bags to fit your needs. You can take features that you like from multiple different tool bags and combine them to make yours perfect

bit late, but my diamondback pouches (wrangell 2.0 and mule) fit awesome on the belt. The top part of the pouches that the belt loops through are really small (buckaroo pouches are wide so it takes the entire space of the belt) so I'm still able to fit other smaller pouches, chisel holders on the side of them etc. The only downside I have is because the top bit is so small, the pouches slide around super easy and you've got to readjust the pouches to the right position. It isn't too much of a hassle though.

How long do they last

How did you find sizing what size of pant are you and what size of belt did you get been looking to get that same belt for my Occidental pouches

Christopher Dobbin I wear size 33 pants. This belt it a 34. If I’m wearing a coat or multiple layers when it’s cold, I’m on the second to last hole on the belt. With a tshirt I’m about 4 holes from the end. So I guess it might depend on how many layers of clothing you wear. But there’s not a lot of adjustment for the holes so it’s pretty important to get the right size.

That pocket shield is for Chisels its perfect..

Why not get the adjust to fit light framers ?

The Occidental comfort belt is better than the buckaroo belt imo.

Thanks for the helpful video I’ve got a couple questions I’m left handed and I’d like to go with the same setup as you pouches and tool belt but a lot of guys have been saying because I decided to go with the exact same just your right handed pouch I picked the left handed which is on my left hip and your other one that you have on your left I have the right version to go on my right hip and they said it should be the other way round as it’s a specific fixing pouch but i’m left handed hope you can help I’m 14 from Australia I was also wondering if you have Instagram or Facebook thanks so much it would mean a lot if you replied thanks

That would definitely work! That’s what I would do if I was left handed.. just get the left handed versions of the pouches you want should be no problem. They make left handed versions of all their pouches I believe. I have Instagram but I’m not super active on there. @jalon_matt. Good luck to you mate, I’d love to know what you end up going with.

Joey Tagg I would just like to be more specific here for you so your marking tools ie. pencil markers and hammer should be on your dominant side yours being the left and things such as your speed square tape measure fasteners ie. nails screws should be on the other side yours being your right hand also if you take better care of you occidental tool bags there is no reason they should look like that after five years there are many many master carpenters with occidental bags that they have had for ten years plus. Ive been carrying the occidental fat lip 5058 adjust to fit for the last seven years and they still look brand new best of luck to you on your journey into the carpentry world my friend

The outer belt is not leather. If you look in the prong holes you will notice fibers indicating it is TPU or PVC coated webbing which is better than leather. The glossy/textured area on the signature belt is also coated webbing merely in a translucent finish. The main belt attachment infront is the only leather on this belt. Biothane is a good example of a company specializing in TPU and PVC coated load bearing webbings. Leather, no matter the type, will break down quickly with chemicals and sweat so Buckaroo opted for the most resilient option that is more durable than leather and actually load rated to carry weight. Many horse bridles are made from Biothane and the like. The leather portion of the Buckaroo belt is similar to a full grain Double Shot leather where it is treated through with wax and or oils before dye. This leaves a buttery soft finish and good water resistance but it will break down over time/stretch.

Dude you just broke that leather belt in. You can get another 10 years outtake that bad boy

How long did it take you to break in that buckeroo belt?

Not for me. That felt ends up stinking over time... nothing beats a leather belt and suspenders IMO. Have been using Occidental for 25 years and tried DB bags and test the the Buckaroo setup and will stick with OL.

@@stevemcgee99 I think that might work, maybe some dawn dish soap and warm water. Or some febreeze, let sit for couple mins, than soap/water than rinse
