After a hormone positive (ER+) breast cancer diagnosis women are commonly prescribed Tamoxifen which blocks oestrogen from getting to any breast cancer cells. You’d think a small daily tablet wouldn’t do much but the side effects can be horrific. From hot flushes, to achy joints, to weight gain to brain fog. Today I caught up with former breast cancer consultant Liz O’Riordan who had breast cancer twice about how best to cope. Visit us at www.the-c-list.com or @thetittygritty on Instagram x

We all have been so gullible! I refused chemo! Praise God! I had double mastectomies with 21 lymph nodes removed. 19 bad!! I have been on anastrozole 4 years. I will be 73. I was a hospice RN 18 years. I learned too much about the lying! The money making priority blew me away! Why were all of my breast cancer patients bald?? Because chemo is a cash cow! May God give us courage!!

I’m so happy to find this video. I will spend the end of my 40s on this terrible drug. I should be enjoying the rest of my youth right now, but no, I’m in menopause after a horrible year of fighting cancer. It’s frustrating too because everyone thinks your done at the end of treatment.

Dr Liz is a consultant breast surgeon in Ipswich UK with Phd in cancer biology. She herself had breast cancer twice and runs an advisory for breast cancer patients. Bravo to the good doctor, God bless her.

My oncologist wanted me on this drug. Instead I went to Oasis for Hope in Tijuana Mexico. Had Dendritic cell vaccines and Lymphocyte Activated cancer killer cell vaccine. Also, high dose IV vitamin C, K and ozone therapy. My oncologist there in Mexico told me Tamoxfen would interfere with their vaccine therapy. So I didn't do it. At , my stay there, there was a lecture by one of the doctors. He said within 10 years chemo will be a thing of the past (with the exception of some blood cancers). I hope he is right.

I'm so happy I came across your video. I've been taking tamoxifen for about 1,5 years now and when I talk about my side effects at my breast surgeon it is as if he doesn't hear me. Not only my surgeon, even the nurses, psychologists, etc... do not seem to realize how it affects my quality of life. So nice to hear that my fogginess and not being able to function 100% anymore is something 'real' and not something that's only in my mind. Thanks for that and keep well.

My oncologist want me on this, I have asked again and again about how side effects are manged ... they don't answer other than 'not everyone gets all the side effects you can read about on the internet' - or they just stare me out, like it was never said. Any how, I'm not going to take it. After reading 'How not to die' & 'Eat to beat diease' I'll continue to not eat refined sugar, (just what is in fruit, not jiuce), not eat diary, or eggs. (the word easter comes from eostrogen, from when the hens start laying.) Plant based foods that contain eostrogen like soya milk, actually block the eostrogen receptors, but don't give the side effects of no eostrogen. A table spoon of flax also helps, its all in the bmj ...

Tamoxibollocks!! Love it. It’s new name in our house. I feel like I’m 90! Pain in my ankles and feet is so much fun. I’m on Tamoxifen and Zoladex which is quite difficult. Still better than the alternative. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for this fantastic video. I been taking tamoxifen for 2 years and at the beginning I was prescribed letrozol. This gave me join pain and it seems my body can handle tamoxifen much better. I use aromatherapy, herbs and lots of oils, Sage really helps in any form but specially the essential oil, I keep a mixture of oils on my night table. I also keep sage bonbons no sugar! I am 60 years old and probably my counteracting medicine is being positive and very busy! I’ve learned to meditate and practice Qi gong for beginners. I follow Qi gong on KZread 💖 Shaolin. The very best for all the women who goes through this.

Thank you so much for sharing your valuable information and expertise ❤ I have stage 3 breast cancer and MS and had a hysterectomy recently. I am on Tamoxifen as letrazole caused joint stiffness more than the Tamoxifen. Tamoxibollocks now being the new brand 😅. It is so hard to get good honest information so thank you 😊 🙏

Thank you so much for this video! I stopped taking Tamoxifen 2 weeks ago after taking it for 6 months, secondary to horrible side effects. How long does it take for the side effects of: extreme hip pain, peripheral edema, lower metabolism, lack of libido and high blood pressure to go away? Most of these side effects aren't mentioned in the literature or I would have never taken it or would have stopped it sooner if I had realized that was what was causing it. I am 65 with a stage one lobular ca, no lymph node involvement. Thank you for a response. I have ordered your book as you are the first female breast surgeon I have run across who has the the medical background plus personal experience to discuss these issues. I am actually considering checking if I have any estrogen and progesterone left to help with these side effects.

I am also stage 1 lobular no node involvement Triple positive. Lumpectomy 72 yrs old. I'm on Arimidex 1 yr now. I hate it and want to go off if it too, but I'm scared to do it. I heard that if you are post menopause you don't take tamoxifen.

What about just taking half a dose? I read that there have been tests to prove that 10mg is as effective but less toxicity. Trials took place at karolinska hospital

I wish I could stay on tamoxifen but it's side effect of uterine cancer is too high of a risk. That's why they put me on anastrozole. Anastrozole made me lose my hair, pain in my hips, knees, shoulders and back. Sporadic and different stages of pain even when I'm sleeping. The pain would wake me up.
