@@4MRRanch alright, thanks man, appreciate the info
That distance entry is the most important feature, You use that with the smart crosshair which is also a ffp crosshair. I think it is the bottom left crosshair in the rectical menu. Once you enter your bullet information into the profile section, the weight, type, velocity, coefficient etc you then select the smart rectical. If you are zeroed at 100 yards you enter your targets range say 60 yards into the scopes distance entry this will give you a teal green dot on your rectical. This dot is your point of aim. So that distance entry is very important indeed. Don't ignore it. Great vid by the way.

Dear sir. I am letting you know that really enjoy your videos. I will however have to say that the ATN thor 4 is not all it's cracked up to be. I purchased a 4.5 to 18 and have had nothing but trouble with it and ATN customer service is non existent. I own a pulsar core 30 and for 2 years it has never left me down. What I find of more value or equal value is ,What company has the better Customer service and my husband has the ATN THOR4 and has had to send it back for repairs and has had the hardest time to get anyone to help him out with either a R/A number or any information as to how to send the scope in for repair ,after finally returning the scope you will not here anything as to what was wrong with the scope or otherwise .The scope will just show up . I love this scope and would love to purchase another (BUT) their Customer service is SUB par. I also have friends that own Pulsar scopes and also had to send them back and had NO ISSUES in contacting or service of any kind .Replaced Scope with out ISSUE. This a very Important step when Purchasing an Expensive Scope.

@@thewatcher611 it's a great '80s action movie that's still relatable. They're out in the jungle and using weapons that are still issued worldwide. so other than maybe the lack of smartphones, (they're in a jungle with no service anyway), the story works today.
@andrewsinclair7159

@@Gideon_Judges6 Weapons issued worldwide today, except that handheld GE M134 minigun with the huge backpack, or at least not the way they used it in the film. In the real world, the M134 minigun weighs 85 lbs, and fires at 2000-6000 rounds per minute using a powerful electric motor, so it's impossible for one man to carry the gun, plus ammo, plus a sufficient power supply. In Predator, Jesse Ventura carries the gun using a special harness. The backpack only has enough ammo in it for 4 seconds of continuous fire, and the power supply is actually a gas generator connected to the gun by a cable that you can actually see in a couple scenes if you look close. It's just too damn much gun for any one person to handle so they did a lot of tricks to make it look possible. Fun fact though, Arnold carries and uses the exact same minigun in Terminator 2, and by exact same, I mean they literally dug up the very same prop gun from Predator and put it in Terminator 2. That makes more sense to me, since Arnold has robot super strength.
@Gideon_Judges6

@@andrewsinclair7159 yeah I heard all that before on some making of and/or propmaster kinda show, but thanks for recounting it all. I love both those films from my childhood... before Arnie got political, and cheated on his wife, etc... another fun factoid, that minugun is made by Dillon, which is Carl Weathers' character in the movie. A lot of sources will just call it "GE" because they designed it, and the bigger Vulcan it was based on but Dillon is also one of the licenced manufacturers. BTW if you haven't heard, you should check out IMFDB. They're like the IMDB of movie gun info.
@andrewsinclair7159
3 жыл бұрын
@@Gideon_Judges6 Now that bit about Dillon I didn't know, but it makes sense with military contracting the way it is. And IMFDB is great. I'm one of those people that compulsively tries to ID guns I see in movies, so I love being able to confirm if I'm right or not.
Ok. Is it just me, or is everyone else pretty sure whom ever was coming up with the different color schemes for the thermal was a wee bit high? LoL! As for the port covers popping off, yeah that was my concern when I first started looking at it. Two thoughts come to mind while waiting for them to come up with a solution. One simple but a Scout Fix. Other a little more work. For the first one, spread a think coat of lubricant that won't dissolve the rubber on each cap, then cover the entire side with a piece of duct-tape. For the other, rig some connector to the scope-mounts and stretch a piece of rubber across the entire side. Get even more creative and do it to both sides and you'll have extra impact protection. ;-)
Great vid but for zeroing all you need is an a4 shoot n see black sheet, for your shot at the paper and then zero your crosshair to the point of impact, Make your own shoot n see using high vis paper, a laminator, and some black line marker paint.
I have seen ATN thermal scopes in the lower resolution at 1200.00 1400.00 every other manufacturer of thermal scopes start at 3000.00 I can see spending the lower amount for the limited use I would put it through but if I was out eradicating hogs on a regular basis the high priced models would be worth the cost it's nice to at least have a company with a product that is at a more affordable price point for occasionally night hunting coyotes.
Do you still use this scope or have you moved on?
Thanks for the video
Two things. Does this site have natural site? Meaning can you set it up to look like any other scope or is just thermal? This is the very best product review I have watched and I have watched numerous other reviews. Well done young man and thank you.

Mark Smith you’re looking for the 4K pro model if that’s what you’re after, it’s a night vision scope that also has “normal” daytime view. I have a video of this on my channel as well in a similar fashion as this video. To my knowledge there are not thermal scopes that let you have the option to toggle thermal on and off. You can also look into clip on thermal as an option. ATN is releasing something like this as well, and I plan to review that too!

@@4MRRanch Do you have problems with recorder videos being out of sync with the Audio? I upgraded to the latest firmware and it is still out of sync bad. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4ttsLd8cc7ReJc.html
Since the optic uses an app on a smartphone, can you update software through wifi/bt, via the app versus having to remove an sd card?
Do you have a video showing how the ABL 1000/1500 works with the ThOR 4? I'm interested in a solution to the topic where the ABL's reticle does not align to the same spot "on target" with the ThOR 4's reticle. For example, when viewing a target in the viewfinder, it's awkward to have to adjust/move your gun due to the "Position" of the two reticles. In short, the ABL's reticle appears in a different location in the viewfinder as does the ThOR'4 reticle when pressing the Function Key to Range a Target. Assumptions: The ThOR 4's Firmware is up-to-date, the Ballistics data is entered, the scope has been Zeroed via the "One Shot Zero", the devices are Paired, and the Zero ABL step has been performed.
Genial! ☺

For the price of those scope they should NOT pixilate to that extreme when zooming in.

@4MRRanch
4 жыл бұрын
eric bertrand I would give the model reviewed in my video a shot. The 4.5-18x range gives you the best of both worlds. At 4.5x it’s still very capable for taking shots at 50-100 yards with a wide enough field of view to keep shooting when they’re on the run. And you can crank up the magnification for further shots with some resolution loss.
@christiansmith7254
4 жыл бұрын
that much zoom is completely useless in the field. For digital optics, you cut your resolution in half with every time you double the zoom. So, 2X and 4X are usable. 6X is stretching it. 8X, 10X, etc above that, you'll never use in the field. Start at 640 and you're at 80 res just after 6X. Thats basically duck hunt on the first nintendo. And thats with a 640 unit. If you're using a 384, it gets worse twice as fast. Looks good on paper, but not functional at all.
is there a thermal out there that is just a thermal scope? (no data card, wifi blutooth..etc.) I just want a bare bones thermal. any ideas?
What kind of batteries does it use? How long do they last? what sort of shelf life? I assume there's not "regular" or Day sight mode so if the batteries run out its a brick then, right? It sounds really neat but I'm wary of anything claiming to be "smart", I mean, after you set it up why would it need updates? seems odd to me...
