This is a review and overview of the Uplift V2 Standing Desk! During this video I'll cover the options that are available for the desk frames, tops, and additional accessories (of which there are very, very many!) I'll also give my overall impressions of the quality of the desk including quality of construction and quality of the movement, as well as a comparison to a previous standing desk that I was using that came from a very similar price point.
Also thank you to Uplift for providing me with a desk to allow me to do this review, it's very much appreciated!
Have any questions about what you've seen in the video? Feel free to leave a comment!

    I've been planning mine out for a week or so now and I will have to get the commercial C frame. I'm 548, but I have long legs and need that shorter height. It's a bummer that the commercial has that brace because that means I cannot put a short file cabinet or Pc underneath without it sticking out quite a bit. The manufacturer said that several people in the office don't put up that crossbar and it seems okay. However if I'm putting two large PCS and three monitors on top of an 80 inch desk, I think I'm going to need to keep it. Unfortunately, I cannot get the hammock because it's the commercial version C frame. LOL

    Honestly this is the one thing stopping me from buying a standing desk. I've seen dozens of reviews where the desk wobbles, which turns me off completely. Uplift seems to be the best, and you can upgrade the frame to have a stability crossbar (definitely a must if stability is your priority).

    Great video and thanks for the review on the desk frame! I was curious if you could share the height dimension of the middle crossbar that you slide into each side piece? I have a drawer that will need to clear this and I'm hoping is less than an inch! Also, what is the width of each side piece that connects into that middle crossbar? Again, thanks for your video and the help!

  • @MattBorchert

    @MattBorchert

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Timothy! So the middle crossbar at its highest appears to be right around 1.5 inches. There are some triangular slants that connect the legs to the desktop for some additional support, and those appear to go 3.5 inches out. Here is the computer case I have under my desk so you can reference the dimensions: www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/define/define-7/black/ It fits very easily, but it sounds like your drawer may be quite a bit taller.

    nice review! are the edges of the desk soft? My current desk hurts my wrists/under my forearms when typing for longer periods of time due to it having sharper edges... the curved style looks nice too but not sue I want to lose out on the extra space.

    I have the laminate version so I cannot speak to the real wood one, but I do not consider these edges to be sharp at all. The corners are all rounded. I also use a wrist rest for my keyboard and mouse though, so I don't ever really have my arms on the edges directly.

    Matt, you were upfront about Uplift sending you the desk. I only wish you had said whether (or how much) that may have influenced you. I guess it might be hard to be objective about that, but people are naturally going to wonder. Did the company give you any review guidelines/restrictions/instructions as a prerequisite for receiving that? I noticed you said to someone else that it wasn't a paid review, but, I mean, you got a _desk._ I'm open-minded, and I know it's still possible to be objective; just saying.

  • @MattBorchert

    @MattBorchert

    4 күн бұрын

    I was as objective as I was able to be. These things will always influence someone's view, so it's just a matter of how much. Years later I'm still using the desk, and independently paid for a larger top. I've had no issues with it.

  • @MikeAnn193

    @MikeAnn193

    3 күн бұрын

    @@MattBorchert That's fair, and you're correct, it's a matter of how _much_ you were influenced. That's what viewers don't know, and without it, we can't get a reasonable impression. As a consumer yourself, I'm sure you understand that. It's easy to believe you were as objective as you were _able_ to be, but I don't know what might be "disabling" you, so to speak, 😏whether a sense of obligation for the gift, or instructions/guidelines from the company. Having said that, I thought the review was well done, and believable. I have nothing against Uplift, and I'm strongly considering this desk. I'm just a careful consumer, and wary of a company's marketing practices, such as gifting review items. Frankly, I think the world would be far better off if its inhabitants were less credulous and more skeptical of unknown claims on all manner of topics, but I'll spare you. This isn't the place for that speech. Thank you.

    This wasn't a paid review, they just sent the desk over. I've used the desk a couple of years now without issue. I'm sure if you were standing on top of the desk at max height it may wobble, but I personally haven't experienced that.

    @@aguiremedia I've had no issue with stability, but to be honest, I use the desk at a regular table height 95%+ of the time. As for the commercial model, I have no regrets not buying it. I specifically didn't want the cross bar at the back so I could push my desktop PC back all the way, so for that reason, the commercial model wouldn't have been great for me. I think it I was getting one of the longest desktops they offered, then a commercial would make more sense. The longer the desk, the more chance there is of sway etc.

    I stand by what I said. I've used cheap standing desks and there is a reason they're cheaper. Cheaper motors, cheaper construction -- they tend to feel low quality and suffer from a variety of issues. If I were to ever use a much lower priced desk that I felt held up to the standards of those that cost double what they do, I would certainly change my opinion. That just hasn't been the case thus far.

  • @MattBorchert

    Compressed wood is extraordinary typical in desk tops, although they also offer natural wood options. Natural wood is far more likely to encounter issues like warping which will lead to a top that isn't as good at being a desk surface, but real wood certainly looks better.

    The top that I picked? It was walnut. Having used it several months now it's holding up great. The only thing I don't love are the portions that cover the sides and have a little bit of plastic showing through. Also, an alternative route would be to have a good wood top made (or make it yourself), then just drill the holes to mount it. Should still be fairly basic to do, and would be way cheaper than the tops they offer. I don't know if you can buy a base without a top for cheaper, but that would make sense.
