    Did you try the bluetooth mode where you connect your phone to the screen and also via Bluetooth to the car for better audio and working steering wheel controls?

    Yes, comes packed with the Newsmy C1 bluetooth adapter, decent sound quality.

    The device displays only mode, equivalent to the device not participating in the sound. The sound is your mobile phone and car Bluetooth, all your current experience remains the same, multi-functional steering wheel button control, the original car microphone is OK. And in this mode, the music delay problem of wireless carplay itself has been completely solved.

    It would be very interesting for basic cheap EVs without an OEM touchscreen (like the new Citroën e-C3 YOU) to get EV routing in Apple Maps when using CarPlay on such a product (like what only Porsche on the Taycan and Ford on the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning are doing in the whole automotive industry, although the function has been provided in vain by Apple to automakers for years). This could be achieved using a Bluetooth OBD-II dongle that would transmit the EV battery status to the unit, and a bit of software engineering. I doubt the Chinese will go that clever route though.

    Does Navigation instructions and music playback both come from the car stereo via Bluetooth? Also does the screen allow pinch to zoom when you use Google Maps or Waze?

  • @iSimplifiedTech

    @iSimplifiedTech

    Answer is yes. Regarding the pinch to zoom, that is not supported on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto - basically pinch to zoom won't work on any of the screens.

    Does double tapping on any of the maps apps enable the zooming function?@@iSimplifiedTech

  • @iSimplifiedTech

    No. The maps apps on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are designed to work differently than what is on the actual phone. These complex tap sequences are considered not safe to use for car screens.

    @@leryeo If you look at all the models, including Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes and BMW, they are not supported. This is a well-known answer that has been used for weeks. I also see that you have a copy and paste problem in the comments section of several videos, I don't think it is necessary. Because Apple and Google's parent companies don't do this, in-car systems aren't phones.

    If I connect this unit to my vehicle (Ford Transit) via Bluetooth, then how can I have my phone also connected to the car through BT? The reason I want to do this is because I will use the unit mostly for Navigation and when you're doing that, you don't want to interrupt your navigation screen when you want to listen to music or make/receive phone calls, etc.

  • @iSimplifiedTech

    If your car doesn't have bluetooth then You take the bluetooth adapter and connect it to any usb outlet, or you can buy a mini adaptor from usb type A to usb C and connect it in the extra usb port of the Carpodgo then you take the other end and plug it into the aux port. Then set the unit on the Bluetooth/Screen only sound and it will work! You don't connect the actual screen to anything besides your phone. If your car has bluetooth, then connect phone to bluetooth and thats it. The way it works is phone going to be connected via bluetooth to the car sound system or bluetooth adapter and Carpodgo but it will idolize the car bluetooth or bluetooth adapter as an output source to play sounds.

    @@iSimplifiedTech Thanks for the detailed explanation, but there are couple of confusing things. First of all, my car has BT so that will be easy and straightforward. What I am not sure is going to happen is if I connect my phone to car, then I can't connect it to the CarpodGo at the same time, UNLESS the phone to CarpodGo connection is not by BT but by WiFi or some other way.

  • @iSimplifiedTech

    @iSimplifiedTech

    Phone will connect with both CarpodGo and car bluetooth at the same time seamlessly after the first pairing. It will auto connect so you won't have to manually pair every time, it will remember that CarpodGo bluetooth is for CarPlay and the Car bluetooth is for sound output. This is where CarpodGo stands out from the other portable CarPlay screens and allows the CarPlay sound to be played via bluetooth. Hope this is helpful. The actual data exchange between phone and CarpodGo happens over wifi.

    @@iSimplifiedTech OK not to ask same question again, I'll take your word for it that it's different from other similar devices such that you're able to connect your phone to CarpodGo and at the same time to your car audio via BT. Thanks again for your explanation.

    @@dougconley My car doesn't have bluetooth or an aux-in. I'd have to remove half the dash and pay around $180 just to buy a 2-din facia plate and bracket. Then I'd need to buy a new stereo with android auto (another $300). This is over priced compared to a lot of very similar products (usually they're $100, not $280 like this), but this is plug+play and adds the option of a reverse camera too.

  • @iSimplifiedTech

    You are right. This is a little higher in price because if Apple would make a screen like this, this would be the closest thing to that. You pay for the reliability and stability of the system. All the other screens out there are mass produced, and they are not polished as good as this unit.
