Krueg, your take on Pearsall is so odd. I dont understand your questions of his toughness, he’s shown on multiple occasions he’s willing to take a hit. i.e The catch of the year where he got rocked by 3 defenders and got up immediately?

I think the jetlag must be getting to Larry. Being able to outjump a guy by 14 inches and outrun him by 0.3 seconds are a completely different player entirely. Danny was a great route runner and ball catcher, but he wasn't nearly the athlete that Pearsall is. If they want to keep doing ethnically challenged comparisons with the guy, then compare him to Cooper Kupp. Keep in mind though that Kupp wasn't NEARLY the athlete coming out of Eastern Washington that this kid is. Kupp ran a 4.62 40 with a 31 inch vert to Pearsall's 4.41 40 and 42 inch vert... Again, night and day difference in athletic traits

Which ever one show more promise makes the their respective comp expendable next season when decisions have to get made. Not perfect moving towards a second year player but the Niners have found diamonds and duds in the draft. With 2 opportunities you have a better chance.

Why did you just chastise people for comparing Ricky to all the other white receivers and then instantly do the same thing? You guys really need to stop looking at his skin color and just evaluate him based on his skill set and athleticism. You say he can't win over the top and isn't big enough to play outside, he's bigger than Aiyuk and has a better vertical and is faster.

Pearsall is an inch taller and much skinnier. When it comes to play strength, they’re not even on the same planet. Aiyuik is WAAAAAAAY stronger. And don’t tell me how many reps of bench press Pearsall did. I’m talking about PLAY STRENGTH and these two dudes aren’t even on the same planet when you watch the tape and look at the play strength.

@@joeynickles7962 Pearsall has a stronger base than Aiyuk. Dude has some quads! He looks pretty built for his weight. Thinking maybe he’s added a couple pounds post combine. He looked bigger than he did in college at the rookie minicamp. Ricky had better combine metrics than BA. BA has an NFL body now that he’s been in the league for a bit, but coming into the NFL he didn’t. He was a bad blocker. Probably the best in the NFL now. But as rookies? Ricky has BA coming in.

@@49ersSportsTalk Absolutely, 100% false. Pearsall is a twig compared to Aiyuk and doesn’t even have close to the same strength in his base as Brandon Aiyuk. These dudes aren’t even on the same planet in terms of play strength. And granted, Aiyuk has been a professional for 4 years now so you’d expect him to be way stronger. So it makes sense. But to say that Ricky Pearsall has a stronger base (!) than Aiyuk is totally, 100%, unequivocally false. In fact, it is Pearsall’s relative lack of play strength (not toughness - Larry’s wrong about that - he’s plenty tough) that shows up on tape in contested catch situations way too often. It is also shows up in him being rerouted in his stem at times and in some difficulties getting off the jam at times (though his short area quicks help him immensely in that part of his game). Ricky Pearsall literally has YEARS of physical development to go before he’s anywhere even remotely close to having the play strength of Brandon Aiyuk. Years. Watch the full game cutups closely. I like Ricky but he’s got a long ways to go in terms of play strength. Thankfully he has other traits to help win while he’s developing his body.

@@joeynickles7962 You can say "100% false" but it doesn't make it so. BA was a twig coming in as a rookie too my guy. He now has an NFL body after 3-4 years in an NFL weight room. He was basically 6'0, 200 lbs. Pretty average. Also BA only did 11 reps on the bench, Pearsall 17. To act like he is some skinny little weak ass weasel coming in, is NOT being intellectually honest. Straight up, point blank, period.

@@49ersSportsTalk If you actually study the game tape and know how to evaluate it properly - I mean really know what to look for - the difference in play strength is unmistakable. I mean it absolutely jumps off the screen. So for you to go back to “well , he had this many reps on the bench press” shows me that you either haven’t spent to the time to seriously study full game cutups closely (I have - both the coach’s copy and the tv copy), or you don’t know what you’re looking at. Play strength and weight room strength are NOT always equivalents and that is definitely the case with Pearsall. Aiyuk is obviously stronger, and he was way stronger coming into the league as well. Wanna compare notes of our respective deep dives? I think I have about 4 pages on Ricky, including the charting of specific plays in specific games.
