Two things that comes together for me in this episode. "If i had all the money in the world" And Golf. I would buy a Golf II any day, And with limitless amount of money it would be a 4x4 turbo intercooler Diesel with the pump wrenched up to rolling serious coal. And if it could be shoehorned in the engine will be minimum a 2,5 l.

I love old Top Gear. Seeing people enthuse over Vauxhall Omegas and Fiat Tempra is hilarious nowadays.

I've seen 2 of them now, and the second one I saw spent half the info sheet at the car show telling people how few are left

From humble beginnings

We had a Tempra in our family for 14 years or so. It was an 1991 carburetor version 1.6L SX sedan. Current owners of the car are also 8th owners. Car has done well over 600.000km, God knows how much over 🤣. Not a single engine rebuild, not a single critical rust points. Unlike the Vectra or Sierra, Tempra keeps going.. and sadly, all Vectras and Sierras are scrape metal now :)

Not quite, a Sierra with over 600k on the clock went for a good price at auction a few years back.

Golf MK3 much criticism in its later life (& then regarding power output) but think it was summed up well by the reviewer it was designed perfectly for the market of the time yes 115bhp was poor from a 2.0Ltr but it was quality & handling feel. Still have a MK3 GTI over what else was around hot hatch wise in that bunch of cars he had lined up.

Thanks, I enjoyed Tiff's piece on the NSX and the ever slick Quentin's piece on car auctions.

loved it,thanks alot,,,,brought back so many memories of the good,bad and ugly of motoring ,,oh the metro,such a rust bucket,,buth my dad had a lancia thema,,what a great car.,pity he didnt have the ferrarri version tho!

I remember seeing alot of rover Metros everywhere when I was a kid but haven't seen any in about 10 years, I think they have all been on the scrap heap for a long time.

My dad hired a white one in 1993 or was it 94 was a k plate. Loved that week cos he had been without a car since 89. Not having a car is one thing I hold a grudge against him for. All kids had cars at my school. Meant cars took in a significance in my life my uncle always had niceish company ones scorpios sterlings s types etc. in an era before everybody had financed 3series and merc c220ds and x overs his cars were fairly premium.

Hah I never watched this but it's somehow so calming and just nice, it's almost strange Am I the only one who likes this more than the new megaHD supernew show, despite the quality?

This over caffeinated american also uses it for naptime. Also, ever thought of using motorweek as well? But old top gear is in a class of its own.

@@donnerblitzen1388 I Americas not particularly caffeinated it's very popular in the Muslim world you're very sober compared to Europeans and very full of the business end of bullets but not particularly caffeinated there's more caffeine in tea than coffee by volume it's like racism buy volume Japan and Israel are the worst offenders as so-called Western countries but America is pretty racist to lol

Back in the day…those 220 turbo coupes were quick old things

Used to drive an "F" reg Range Rover vogue, in white, back in 1991. Superb car, although the fuel economy was shocking with the V8!

Two things to remember for Mr Goffey, put the boot catch high up and whatever you do make sure the SPARE WHEEL IS UNDER THE CAR!

Quentin, Tiff, and Vicki are very underrated.

I miss 90s cars. yes these were cramped and thin metal, but the engines were revvy and connected to the car body, it was a tactile experience. Cars today have become too disconnected

im just couple of minutes into watching and i feel myself struggling to stay awake

Can I just say, the problem with a spare wheel under the boot floor. Want it outside, good, but you still need to get at the screw to lower the wheel from the bottom of the boot floor. So you still need to empty the boot. I hate to say this, but Rover, the P6, with the wheel on the boot lid, that is or was the only real good solution.

A few more Pixels would be nice if you have any!

I never realized that Vauxhall is just geo, only noticed when he called the Geo Tracker a Vauxhall frontera

Vauxhall has same line up as Opel, they are just right hand steering versions for UK. Geo Tracker has nothing to do with Vauxhall, it's was made by GM Canada and Suzuki and was roughly same as Suzuki Escudo.

Sean Bassett another 8 yo toddler with full diapers fighting hard for attention. Same comment just like under every Old Top Gear video. Toddler, you would be surprised but there are people on this planet that don't considered explosions and piano gag in each episode as funny. And also there are people that don't consider scripted "accidental" situations recognizable minutes ahead as funny.
