Fast Eddie saved me from being ejected from the Glasgow Apollo many years ago. He'd been up in the circle, near where we were sitting, watching Saxon's support slot. There were only about twenty punters in the circle at the time. One of the Apollo's infamous tuxedo-wearing bouncers randomly decided to chuck me out (they did this if they didn't like the band/crowd). I'd just been gripped from behind in a death-lock when I heard this voice that sounded a lot like Neil from the Young Ones, "No man, put him down .." as FE appeared in front of us, flapping his arms. Bouncer grunts and drops me. I go on to enjoy a grass-destroying gig - but I never did get a chance to express my thanks to the massively talented Fast Eddie.

I have just learned of Eddie's passing, and I'm in shock to hear it. He did a European tour just this past Summer as Fastway with his old friends Girls School. He said in an interview several months ago that he wanted to tour the US one last time, and it would probably be next year. He admitted that he had advanced Emphysema from years of cigarette smoking, and was getting out of breath and tired easily. He also admonished people to quit smoking. I think he knew he didn't have long to live, and was saying his good byes this way. With COPD, you catch a cold or the flu, and it could be your last one. This is what happened to Eddie. He caught the flu, it went into Pneumonia, and he died. He was one of the most underrated guitarist in the business. So long old friend.

@@Penfold-zr2be If you ask me, Eddie was just burnt out at that point, the drama, extra work, trivial bullshit can turn snowballs in an avalanche from a business PoV, the work with the Plasmatics was just to keep exposure, who cares if it was crap I'll bet Eddie wasn't having any of that, because his burnout was focusing on getting quality results from Motorhead, the "attention"-side was at that point, not his concern He became serious, so any hijinks did nothing else but sour his mood and motivation even more

Back in 82, when Eddie left the sacrosanct Motorhead's 3rd trio formation, everyone was calling him a ''traitor'', when actually he had given his best for M and even decently produced Iron Fist ( listen to it again - it's a chockfull of perks, that is). Clarke was visibly on the level and a dedicated musician, but out of musical differences come apocryphal stories of treason and backstabbing that just weren't there in the first place. if there is any musician who has clearly laid down tracks for forthcoming lute players in M, that was Fast Eddie Clark. Robbo, Würzel, Phil Campbell all had their own personal attributes as M's axemen and their craft helped building the legend, but as deep as guitar blueprints go in Motörhead , Eddie was the culprit, not Larry Wallis.

Me and my mate Jim bumped into Eddie in Leicester after his sound check by chance as he walked out the back of DeMonfort Hall in the afternoon. What a cool dude. Spoke to us and even remembered us after the gig. He signed my concert programme. Top bloke!
I love Eddie's expression when he mentions Speedy and how he was knocking about with them and "having a bit of fun". He's trying to suppress a smile and there's definitely a twinkle in his eye. Would love to have hung out with those fellas. Eddie's stories are awesome.

THANK YOU MR. CLARKE. I ALWAYS LOVED AND RESPECTED YOU. R.I.P.
One of the best interviews ever. His honesty cracks me up.
There will never ever be Rock Stars like his kind again..thank God for the 80s!!
Met Eddie a couple of times in the late 70’s when I was in my early teens. Absolutely lovely bloke who always had time for his fans. Will be sorely missed 😔
Lemmy,Fast and Animal....the BEST MOTORHEAD
Rip eddie..best line up for me
Fast Eddie you can tell has that Motorhead attitude and it's easy to see why he was perfect for them.
"Phil was un-fucking-believable....we had a lot of fun as well."
"what's the point in having a dog and barking yourself" that's the best one I've heard in a long time god bless Eddie great character
R.I.P Eddie. The original and best speed guitarist. Heaven now has the original line-up together.
REAL LEGEND . He's the reason I stopped by earth . He's piloting the 3 man space craft with Lemmy on the maps & Phil on the gunners.

Best metal hair ever. Middle parting, down to his waist, and bullet belt to finish. Fast Eddie. You ruled.
Rip Eddie Great Guitarist and a smashing bloke
His 'Crap' rant just cracks me up! R.I.P. Fast Eddie.
This guy had charisma in bucket loads I could listen to him all day :)
Eddie was a true classic....Best lineup ever.
Great story teller. RIP FAST EDDIE...don't know why he's so down on IRON FIST, it's top notch in my book.
A true original, no holds barred!! Love him!!
Nothing before or since has been the icon that Motörhead is.
After watching this who wouldn't wanna be in a band and go on the road, the real rock n rock life, its a shame he couldn't stay around longer to tell more stories of this great band, weird how they've have all gone in such a short space of time, all 3 were characters, rest in peace Ed.
I could sit down with him for hours and listen to all these mega stories!
Eddie ! Could listen to him all day!
People who can talk and talk, and it's all interesting and funny ... their brains are wired in a special way. I wish I had it like that.
I love listening to Eddie, broke my heart when he died, I thought he would be around for years.
Man o fuckin Man i could listen to Fast Eddie rant all day.
‘’. . . alright if I watch the fucking telly, I’m on in a minute.’’ 🤣
Mr Clark Class act in his own way I could listen to him all day what great story's now all 3 I believe are together in one place again I can even see Lemmy saying Let's get it right this time no break ups while Phil and Eddie go no wobblers here don't need money here just fun jamming and no corporate types to deal with ,,Now that's the only way to go ,,and when Micky and cambell get there it can be one huge jam session
A Kings ransom !!!... Great line
Please let me say, One of the best rock guitarist ever.
The band has had some great musicians and some great personalities.
Thanks for all the fun, music and energy Eddie - unique, loud and unbelievable when it began. Just amazing. No point saying Rest in Peace really as you will obviously not be doing anything peaceful with the three of you together now .....
"Phil wanted to leave the band... as usual." :D

@@Penfold-zr2be If you ask me, Eddie was just burnt out at that point, the drama, extra work, trivial bullshit can turn snowballs in an avalanche from a business PoV, the work with the Plasmatics was just to keep exposure, who cares if it was crap I'll bet Eddie wasn't having any of that, because his burnout was focusing on getting quality results from Motorhead, the "attention"-side was at that point, not his concern He became serious, so any hijinks did nothing else but sour his mood and motivation even more
"We were keen as mustard, ya know what I mean..." I've been practicing my English since I was just about born and never heard that one....awesome.
