This mod has a lot of tiny bugs (that others reported like crashes and rifts timer pausing in caves) and it doesn't work with cloud saves, however, I definitely recommend it to those who are with a potato / play with integrated graphics on their laptops. Personally I have never experienced any bug but it might conflict with other mods.

I can copy paste some of them here but you can go to the mod's pages and read the comments... One example I managed to reproduce was Maxwell having seperate shadow hat chests both in caves and in overworld making it way more OP than it needs to be. Probably happens with woby as well.@@guille6785 EDIT sorry i redact my statement maxwell thing is not a bug it's in the game on purpose. EDIT just tested with woby lol it's working properly. too lazy to test each bug written in the comment section. it's probably things you might not even see in a normal playthrough.

yes but be mindful: this mod reduces lag by not running the caves and the overworld simultaniously. This means that nothing gets wet, and maybe (just maybe) nothing spoils nor grows either

@@trifilosgr Removing a feature specifically designed for having multiple players seems like it would be desirable for someone playing solo.

I have a decent PC and Don't Starve Alone still helps a lot. The tighter controls and near-instant reactions really improve the gameplay experience.

Lardee just forgot to mention one thing, a serious risk that this mod can cause... which is making you never want to play with your friends again, because the difference in optimization with and without this mod is brutal 💀🤯

I imagine a global vote to enter the cave to make this work with multiplayer, that is a bit of an odd mechanic to add though (I imagine such vote system for playing with friends, not randoms)

i agree. this mod really takes alot of frustration out of the game from input lag to loading times. you sumed it up really well.

You have no idea how helpful this video is. I run DST on a 2007 Macbook pro and everything lags badly, so much so that 3-4 killer bee hives worth of bees chasing you could crash DST. This mod makes PvE so so so much easier and made me realize how easy kiting everything is

I remember finding it while scrolling for the basic mods (combined status, emote wheel and so) when I first got the game and its one of the best ones in my list yet, however here are some things you might notice if you use it 1) anything that grows or takes time to re-harvest will stop until you reach back that area, meaning if you pick up some shrooms and then leave the underground, they will not regrow, so you gotta keep an eye on that 2) it might mess up the timing on some time based events like idk wildrifts or giants so you might be oon the overworld to get all that 3) hound rounds might wait you up if you go to caves so its not a safe heaven anymore, this might also happen with antlion but I'm not sure even with those I still enjoy it and use it with my bad pc

Damn I didn't realize the difference in loading times between a good PC and a laptop. Without the mod it still boots in about 43 seconds for me -- 1.6 minutes is super long. Glad this mod exists.

also input lag is present regardless of how good your pc is when caves are enabled, the game is simply terribly optimized

I remember I tried animation skipping as the weremoose to hit dragonfly 6 times instead of 5, I didnt know how to do it. After some time I try again with the ds alone mod and I can kite her reliably now

I do like the mod, but it doesnt work well with rifts as it will make it so lunar and shadow rifts only work when you're in their respective world (the lunar rift timer will only tick when you're in the overworld and shadows only when you're in the caves) Another issue is if when you use it, it changes the exits of sinkholes so if you use it on a world you've already played on it will mess things up.

True, love this mod

this is a cool and all mod but there is a massive downside, this mod might reset caves of the world. my 200+ days world's caves got reseted. But this mod is still worth it, pretty much the best mod to ever exist.

It is a great mod. Even on computers that are capable of hosting without huge performance bogging still have noticeable performance benefits, at least in my case.

Finally a reason for me to go back to dont starve 😄

im still having some trouble when me and my brother play dst on our regular laptops and when we play on weekends whoever is not the host of the server, he always get 200-400 ping (i always use backspace to check to my ping) and it doesnt matter if we reduce the mods or no mods at all, i see no difference in our ping. I still havent find an answer on how to reduce the ping on our dst servers (and if i join an SG server on the best connection, i get 70-75 ping)

i tried using it for a while it indeed get smoother but there is some weird problem where the game freezes for a few sec every minute when using this mod not sure why

I wonder how does this effect work in multiplayer?

I have a high end pc so those technical issues don't apply for me. Also I've become accustomed to the input lag the game provides and disabling that would make the experience better but what if I want to play on pubs? Muscle memory will be different and could cause problems having to get used to input lag and 0 lag. I've always had this mod installed but I have never used it.

It's quite disappointing that singleplayer optimization has to come from a mod and not as a QoL feature from within the base game. :r Or at the very least as an option (in the case choosing so disables the world to be turned multiplayer in the future).

DO NOT USE THIS MOD: VERY frequent crashes when going to and from caves, and disabling the mod again is a lengthy process that can erase your caves on the world entirely. the load time saves is NOT worth the crashes

40 fps in caves with this mod. Stable 60 without it. What the heck did they do that it no longer works? What is the point of it since it has been corrupting saves sometimes or messing up with rollbacks? I thing there's something devs need to fix about this mod

If the mod adds something that you could normally do in the game but it just makes it easier, it's a good mod. The exception is dont starve alone here are select mods i reccommend: Dont auto attack gem deer (You dont auto attack gem deer during klaus fight) Snow tile disabler (removes the snow tiles on the floor during winter, could be considered cheat-y) pick up filters (makes you do thing such as when you press spacebar pick up meat before anything else, or dont pick flowers with spacebar, ect) coloured percent (simply shows percents through color, easier on the eyes) status announcements (quickly tell a group if you have something or what your health is) minimap hud (Shows the map in the corner during play. you dont need this mod and you could always just press m)

hello, i made a mod for tweak of the auto attack in a more flexible way, it called "Highlight /Lock Attack Target", you can just exclude someone by Shift+Leftclick the guy then it'll highlight in green, and you will not attack it when you hold F or Ctrl+F.

I play on a super overkill pc that ive built and honestly i dont need this mod, then again i ask myself why do i have the pc when i only play dst and lol and then again i ask why im watching this

yea i really hate randomly my character just randomly choosing not to attack right away. just awful, after playing DS its so strangely awful edit: mod maker doesnt seem to read the comments, they havent patched mega lag spikes in game, and shadow rifts do not function normally

It makes me feel bad for the devs that originally made everything about this game based around "Play together" yet people play alone, complain that it's difficult alone, and the devs eventually make things single player accessible. Like seriously, I feel like with some stuff we need to realize that maybe we need friends to beat this boss.

What we need is an "alone mode", because the reason people play the Game alone even tho you should with friend is that don't starve together started as ds but with multiplayer, but then It turned into ds' sequel, making It get new stuff that old ds does not have and Will never get, so yea i get your point but its not fair that i ""can't play"" the full don't starve sequel that i paid for just because old bosses need friends if you don't want them to be a nightmare, that's why people complain about difficulty, because the bosses rn are very unbalanced, for example the new crystal deerclops has only like 6.000 health, even tho It's an end Game Boss, but the the pre-end Game bosses have a absurd amount of health and mostly in fuelweaver's case, alone he is completely unfair

We have to face reality and accept that one game is for single player and the other one is for multi player, even if the multi player one has more content. 🫤

Do you approve of beefalo timer? it shows your beefalo's taming level (client) and when it will buck you off (also client) using a calculator. I find it useful for pub servs.

Problem is I do not play alone. So sad. It just optimizes the game when you are alone .. . I hope there are some mods that help with performances other than DSA.
