I ran the. same. exact. concept. Big nickel, C2, put your apex in the middle third. And go from there. Depending on the wide/ short side you can cover 6 it.

😂I watched this while playing my one and only game for the night… blew buddy out 45 to 7 and forced like 5 picks. Been a while since I had a margin that big in regs.

One of my favorite things to do out of Big Nickel is to come out in Cover 3 and then set it up so it's essentially a cover 3 shell deep but it plays like a cover 2 underneath in the flats. I'll put the boundary corners in flat zones with zone drops... and then I'll put the nickel corner in a deep outside third, and the strong side safety also in a deep outside third...basically just flipping their responsibilities. Something you can do to confuse your opponent and give him a bit of a different look and these adjustments are one of the things that make Big Nickel pretty unique imo. Chiefs defensive playbook also has BNOG, but you won't get that nickel double mug look out of it.

my buddy has been working our madden league all year with the bengals offense playbook. specifically shotgun tight slots hb wk, flood. it seems like no matter what zone im in, nobody can stay outside of that corner route. the safety and nickle get pulled inside from the skinny post. if the outside corner drops too far back to stop the corner route, then the underneath te drag or rb flat routes are wide open with a blocker. it seems like madden only gives you about 3 seconds to see the formation and rip off some 12 button combo to get some individual adjustments in the right places. what is the easiest individual adjustments button combo to stop a flood concept where there are 4 or 5 receivers on the outside 1/3 of the field, its hard to get enough defenders over there.

So how do you know which defensive shell to pick? I'm not sure when to pick Cover 2, 3, etc. I know that Cover 0 can be good on first downs because a run is likely, but that's about it lol

I think you should also look at it like what you would do if you were the QB. Even though you're controlling defense if you know the play because you run it a bunch you know where you might throw it. Depending on the game mode it will tell you the play afterwards. When you get better at that start trying to recognize formations. These are all great indicators on what the offense might do. Playing defense can be a guessing game but experience and understanding the game can make all the difference.

Can you make a video explaining defense at an intermediate level? I love your tut videos but there are so many things you gloss over too quickly. For example, you say for routes on a side for zone. I pick a spot on the field and set 4 routes to hit it with each route intersecting at a different angle. That works a lot but when someone figures it out idk what to do. I'd be very interested in a video explaining zone coverage rules and their hierarchy.

The reason why you can’t adjust because of the lag is the reason custom playbooks should be a thing. Let me actually make adjustments and not whole memorized setups
