So glad to see you're back on the channel.. Great video.. Looking forward to the lifestyle projectors as I'm in the process in buying one for my home cinema.
Good for you Chris! - You must be honored to have been asked to be a judge. - Your reviews have always been articulate, accutate, and honest. - Cheers!
Thank you Chris, great to see you again! I hope you do a comparision video between the Formovie Theater vs the new Awol PRO models

Welcome back ❤ glad to have you back
Great video and a great shootout!
Thanks for that insightful video. As the happy owner of a lifestyle projector (Epson EF12), I look forward to your future video on those!
I would like to see more UST projectors set up in theatre environments without the use of ALR screens, to see their true performance

In a light controlled environment, where extra brightness isn’t really an advantage for a projector, the USTs with the best contrast will have an even greater edge.
Chris is an honest man, check out was he says starting at the 3:00 mark "The Formovie Theater that I have in My Testing Room isn't quite as bright as it appeared in the Showdown or it's possible that the hardware has changed or maybe their is some variance in hardware perfromance between units." Red Flag.

A projector's image looks different with different environment, screen, and possibly settings is a red flag? Lmaoo
Very cool! Info I've been waiting for! Nothing like a demo fail, though... Bummer. Thanks for all you do!
I loved your video. I'm looking for something that can do 3D well too and not cost an arm and a leg. XGIMI so far looks like a winner. The formovie sounds good, but no 3D. Thanks again.👍

Do you also have an ALR screen? I’ve been considering getting an ultra short throw projector but I really don’t want to replace my existing screen or pay for an ALR screen if it doesn’t make a huge difference in a light-controlled room.
@apmendoza15

@@jimshinosky9041 I don’t. Some people recommend it and some say a white screen performs just as fine. I have a white screen and the PQ is very very good. However, I don’t think the same can be said if in a non-light controlled room. I have dark walls and ceilings and no windows so it gets dark in my theater room.

Hi Chris…amazing videos…congratulations What’s your pick between AWOL 3500 and Ultemia Thor 60. My theatre room is extension of a large basement with some ambient light during day time. I plan to use 120-130 ALR fixed screen. Thanks in advance
Hi, love your contents Very interested about ur thoughts in benq ht4550i in dark room ? Would you do a review in future or best projectors in 2024?
Thanks for all the informations you give about colors, contrats and luminosity. I wonder how loud they sound in a room? How db the fans produced? Is it quiet, annoying? Its a big criteria that I would like to know more. Thanks
So i´m gonna keep my Formovie Theater a bit longer. Was looking in to the V5000i. Thx for the Shootout, saved me some money 😁😁😁
@chris I need your help. I have read many reviews, but I am a big fan of yours. I am between these four projectors. I care a lot about sharpness, black levels and color depth. Lastly would by brightness, but most of the time I watch movies mainly at night. Nexigo Aurora Pro (great black levels and colar depth with Dolby Vision) Epson LS800 (the high average of everything) Formovie (professionals pick of the year) Hisense Px2 Pro (also an average overall good choice) Help me! A cheap option would be the Optoma D2.
Is it worth paying extra for a ceiling mount projector like the epson LS12000 or a cheaper UST like the formovie or AWOL. My new house is being cabled for a traditional theatre setup but now I’m thinking UST. Any thoughts?
Hi Chris, I have the LG HU70LA, do you recommend to upgrade to the Formovie Theater? Is it worth it? Thanks
For your home theater, what projector do you use? Why?
I'm looking the best wisa supported wireless surround system. Right now I'm looking at enclave cinehome 2 and enclave cinehome pro. Are there better options. What is the main difference between these 2?
Nice work chris, Is the hisense l9g come close in performance & picture quality to these ust projectors?? Because in my country they offering l9g 120 screen for only $3000

Hey Chris I. Can’t wait to see your review on the XGIMI Horizon Ultra. I did purchase this and I am now looking for an ALR screen. I was wondering if you could answer me these questions. I want to get the AWOL floor rising screen instead of the obsidian long throw alr screen from Vividstorm. As I’m not sure if there site is a legit site order from seeing how cheap their screens are. So I wanted to know if it would work with a regular Alr screen. My other question since it’s a lifestyle projector & sits in the back of your room can you pair a soundbar up to it with Bluetooth for your sound. I can’t seem to find any reviewers that ever speak on whether this is option that works well for audio for movie viewing. Thanks and look forward to your reviews
Formovie Theater or Nexigo Aurora Pro? Please!!
last year I was very enthusiastic about this type of content, but since since massive drop in large tvs, sadly i think the writing is on the wall for UST projectors. I mean for the price of UST+screen, you are looking at a 98-100 inch tcl/hisense miniled tv that is 5 -10 time brighter with almost oled like contrast and black levels. I still defend the use of traditional long throws in dedicated light controlled HT space.
@blackcaesar8387

@@PaulC-xv4zr I get what you're saying. I used an epson projector (not ust, but just as bright) in living room for 2 years. made my own ALR screen. There is a reason why I specifically called out the miniled tvs, which are the higher end lcd tvs. Tvs like tcl qm8 and hisense u8k have generally excellent blooming control, anti glare technology, super high brightness and oled like deep blacks (local dimming). you can find 100inch versions of these tvs for roughly the price of a UST + CLR screen. I would never recommend some cheap crappy lcd tv over a good projector. Also most living rooms (for which USTs are generally intended) are not light controlled.
Any idea why my Formovie projects a fuzzy image on scenes that are white?

Can you explain why you mentioned that the Epson LS 800 is not true 4K? Thx.
@PSYCHOV3N0M

A lot of UST projectors aren't true native 4K. They use pixel shifting with 1080p to artificially create a 4K image. A native 4K UST projector is usually much more expensive.
Didn't test the samsung stp??? Seems like a miss to not include them. You mentioned the reasons why but they don't add up. Thr samsung short throw has been top pc the list last couple of years so unsure why you'd exclude
@ProjectorScreen

The Samsung came in 4th out of 6th place in the 2022 Showdown and is on its way to being discontinued and replaced with a newer version. It has had no updates since the first Showdown so there would be no reason to think it would have done any better against all of these superior, newer units. I would expect the new version(s) will be included in the 2024 Showdown.

Am I missing something here?
The winner of this test has rainbow effect, so no go for me. I assume every other has it too except Epsons model.
For the love of God man, please tell these manufactures to give us multi resolution projectors. 1080p and 4k alone is garbage. We need 21:9 and 1440p. Why on earth are projectors limited to 16:9. 16:9 is tv format, this should've never been the only option on projectors. Even ViewSonic 10 years ago had had 21:9. All they are doing here is creating the same features in projectors over and over. The gaming ones should have 21:9 and most movie are filmed in 2:35.1 which is basically 21:9. We need options man.
No awol. And formovie technically won twice. Hahahaha. No, they weren't persuaded in anyway!!
Why you omitted AWOL 3500 pro it's the best I have compared even with formovie and it's the only projector which can project to 150 even formovie cannot

@jaychanne|8558 • 0s ago Chris Did you know that Ratingscom rated the Formovie a 7.1 out of ten, rated 1800 Lumens when they advertise 2800. They came in 9th out of 9 projectors by the Hook Up and Formovie is being sued by Epson for fraud and misleading Advertising claiming 2800 Lumens when everyone else can't get to 1800. I know he pays you for sponsorships but really, all these complaints about Formovie having dim HDR and DV, and the picture with the lights on get washed out? Have you ever asked him why he did the first shoot out with the lights off and didn't include brightness. The second shoot out he put dim lights BEHIND the screens and didn't include HDR. Also can you elaborate what you meant when you said in this video that your not sure what they did with the Formovie, maybe different hardware, but your Formovie doesn't look like the one in the competition.
4:11 is the LGBTQI+ community okay with that? 😅
Wasted comparison, biggest formovie competitors are not included which is huge disappointment
