Worked at Walters for 3 summers in highschool/college. Can't say enough about how much I love this place.
Next on Eater: Dry aged Hot Dogs.

I ate at Walter's today. First time in more than 20 years, because I don't find myself in Mamaroneck much anymore. It was as good as I remembered it.
Nick is actually a good presenter with a unique style of his own. keep up the good work Nick!!

From the age of 6-12 (in the 1960s) I lived right down the street from Walter's. I don't think there were too many weeks that went by that I didn't have at least one of those great dogs. It's wonderful to see it's still there and still serving the same mouth watering dogs!
Walters.. Yay. Delicious!! I can't get enough of your channel!
Went to Mamaroneck HS (across Palmer Ave. from Walter's), graduated 1961; almost lived on these Hot Dogs, especially when rehearsing HS theater productions in the auditorium after school.

This guys accent is blowing my mind! he sounds British one second and then out of nowhere comes a New York accent. Also, that hot dog looks amazing but I prefer Rutts Hut across the river in Jersey.
Great vid man
Nick is the only guy who could make a hotdog sound so exclusive.

Love Walter's but I just had a dog at a food truck in New Rochelle on Pelham road and it might be even better. I think it's called Lauren's pelham road spot. She uses a hot dog from Hofmann's from upstate NY. I used to get them when I lived up there at a place called Heids of liverpool.
I bet she wished Lucas was coming, not Nick
That surface area trick for the charring is genius
1:46 The old lady on the right is like "I don't want to talk to you, stop annoying me...." lol
I wish there were more places like this around were I live there isn't enough really good hot dog stands in south bend/mishawaka

i just watch this show for the comments
Good looking dogs. My second favorite way to eat a hot dog. 1-Carolina, 2-mustard only, 3-Chicago. Not sure I'll ever make it to Mamaroneck but fun video nonetheless.

Mamaroneck is an amazing town for food. Lots of variety and great quality spots.
Veal, Beef and Pork..meatloaf mix at the supermarket.
I live in mamaroneck and Walter's is pretty good. It's just a simple hot dog. Dobbs Dawg House in Dobbs Ferry is with a road trip. They are truly unique!
"...because of the unique architecture of the hotdog...". Dude, it's just a split hotdog in a wrinkly bun. Take it easy.

If you're animate to travel a long distance for a hotdog, you should travel to Barranquilla, Colombia. You will try hotdogs you never thought could be possible to create. It's a city wide delicious extravaganza. You should look into it. Love your videos.
I would always eat here growing up! BEST HOT DOGS ever!!!!!!!!!! This is the only reason I miss living in Westchester.
I love when Nick tries to pick up old ladies. Profound technique my man
Lol my home town
Gotta come to NC and get a Bright Leaf "Carolina Packer" hot dog.
Has Nick ever been to Bæjarins Beztu hot dog stand in Reykjavík?
I live a 2 minute walk from this place
Being nostalgic for before you lived!?!? What a hotdog that must be...

I don't get people's problem with this guy. I think he's doing a great job!
@matthewd1963

I think it stems from the forced juxtaposition between his vocabulary and his dining preferences. He loves to use the most unnecessarily technical jargon throughout the entire clip but then verbally masterbates over the "quintessentially simplistic nature of the perfectly cooked (rare) hamburger". It just reeks try hard. Saying that i do like the videos for the food.

That and he doesn't like ketchup on his burgers and hotdogs.
@Kenshinhugo
7 жыл бұрын
+Ash neither do I need ketchup. all the components of ketchup are in a normal burger. acidity by the pickles. fruityness and umami from thinly sliced tomatos. why double any of these by putting ketchup. before getting rolled over I generally hate sauce on burger. it just doesn't elevate the patty taste.
@Ash_Wen-li
7 жыл бұрын
Kenshinhugo Personally I feel the same way. Normally i'll make a special sauce and i'll use it very sparingly.
wow
What's your opinion on skirt steak?
Anyone else notice he said '19th century" and "20th century" by mistake? I doubt they ate hotdogs in 1850 lol
@andy_cooks
3 жыл бұрын
The hotdog was invented in 1871, last time i checked that's in the 19th century...
The Walters Hot Dogs are good but they definitely seem to have shrunk in size compared to the ones I got in the 70s and 80s.
if the two buns don't connect then is it still consider a hot dog? What i mean is from the video it shows that the way the (suppose) hot dog is cooked the bun is split in two and grilled, but then that would mean the end product would be a top and bottom bun with sausage in the middle, then wouldn't that just be a sandwich instead of a hot dog. Also he eats the hot dog with the bun in a top and bottom position which is for sandwich but for people who eat hot dogs, have anybody eaten it that way?
I love the mean "criticisms" lol keep it up!
4:05 pick up after yourself, lady!
There's nothing like a grilled hot dog.
You haven't had a hot dog until you've tasted Walters 😂

@toadbear

Probably to attract attention! In your case it worked :)
I actually agree with the hotdog being further than the burger. Burgers I think are easier than a hotdog which takes a special blend
Those New York old ladies made the episode
I'm assuming he's never been to Gene and Judes, Chicago.
Ayyyy Murda squad represent
One question; Have you tried the Danish hotdogs?! You have not tasted hot dogs till you try that
I think Nick is getting better actually... But can i just say... I find the "Best in the World" title often given to be annoying at best and click bait at its worst... like lets just be real, this is just a Hot Dog worth checking out if you are into hot dogs, just like a hundred other places all over the world
the architecture
I agree that food can be very complex but this guy overthinks so many things about food: "it takes me back to a time before I lived". What does that even mean? It literally does make any sense.
@kuruptzZz

The whole old school vibe you get eating at a vintage joint, who haven't changed anything for 70 80 years. It's not that it's complex, quite the opposite actually

Fred Perry t-shirt, spider web tattoo at his hand, I smell skinhead lover...
Looks good.........but, Chicago also has some great hot dogs too.
Do they make beef hotdogs or only pork?
I hope people who hate on this video and how he talks about the food he's eating understand that they're also hating on the people who make the food. Sure, it might be just a split hot dog to you, but I'm sure the owner of this joint take immense joy in the food they make and are super happy he's talking celebrating it. It's their craft, pride, and ultimately, livelihood.
At the table, the elderly lady on the left seems or looks to have a smeared mustard stain on her right cheek,lol

Wrong.. The best hot dogs in the world are in Iceland. New York hasn't got anything even slightly close.
montreal steamies are the best.
Best dogs on the planet. Not fancy with toppings snd not huge at all,BUT the flavor and ingredients that are in these hot dogs are top notch. Also, you will never have those nasty hot dog burps from Walters.And their New England clam chowder is topps…..
