Neck dive stopped being an issue for me after spending $15 at a thrift store buying a suede-backed leather strap. Would also be a good candidate for hipshot tuners and a hipshot bridge

A better wider strap would make a big difference.

When I get a bit more stable financially, I wont be making the same mistake either. Also when my living space becomes the slightest more permanent lmao

I replaced the bridge with a Hipshot Supertone and the tuners with Hipshot Ultralites and there is no neck dive at all

I just picked one of these up in trade. I’ve got a zero gravity strap and there’s no neck dive. I’m surprised as heavy as the neck is.

Yea the neck goes for a swim towards the Titanic. However if the zero gravity strap alleviates it, I'd be interested in picking that up. You got a link?

That neck dive could be improved if you moved the strap button over to the upper horn on the body. Gibson is just terrible at putting strap buttons in the right place, always picking some fancy aesthetic instead of proper balance. (See also, the SG.)

Yea, that was my first thought! And yes the SG is terrible, I will never buy one. If you ever see me review one, it was given to me lmao. Thanks for watching

@@floofthebassplayer There’s almost no such thing as a “neck dive” guitar. There are just too many damn guitars where the company failed to put the strap buttons in the right places to achieve some balance and player comfort.

Proper strap choice is a lot more effective than going to the ballache of moving the strap button for very minimal gains, followed by tuner replacement with lightweight alternatives - bonus if you can get drop in replacements. Moving the strap button is about the last thing I would recommend someone do.

Neck dive, uncomfortable body shape, body shape is flawed double as it does what I call the "Thunderbird effect" and it makes it feel like you're reaching somewhere between two blocks and the void to reach the first fret. Gibson QC is... Gibson, especially in recent years. The tone is sick though, I just think the rest of the bass is a dealbreaker. Hope this helps!

@@floofthebassplayer Thanks for replying. I had the Gibson 1976 model way back then and some of your points ring a bell. Now I have the Epiphone Thunderbird, the through neck model in Alpine White (from 2014, I think). It is superior to the original in pretty much all respects and only costs a fraction, although without the lovely case. I find it comfortable to hold and to play, the slim neck (exactly the same width as a Strat at the nut) suits my 'short-reach fingers. It has the strap nut where it should be at the back of the neck/body and there is no dive whatsoever. It is better balanced than the Ibanez SR I have. The sound is distinctive and not to everyone's taste and not suitable for all occasions, the pick-ups being a million times better than the originals. I love it. I hope to buy the Jack Casady model next year. It just looks and sounds perfect. Cheers
