The only issue I see, and we're trying this at our company for 50+ pieces of equipment, is that you can use the play sound button once your iphone tells you that the airtag is around and they can ping it and listen to remove it. The work around to this is to remove the internal speaker in the airtag.

Got some recently put on my dump trailer and all my a equipment. Definitely best bang for the buck and no monthly subscription.

Great video. I lost two expensive vintage cameras shipping via usps and ups. What I started doing is putting AirTags inside the shipping boxes and it’s saved me a set of lenses. A package I sent to Louisiana got lost and it went to the wrong usps branch and it was sitting there and I tracked it and told usps where it was and they went and got it.

The problem with using these as a tracker for stolen equipment is that someone with an iPhone will be alerted that there is an Airtag moving with them. Then, they can make the Airtag make a sound so that it can be located. It can also be disabled with their iPhone.

By the time they get that notification we will pretty much know where they are, and I’m sure someone’s camera will pick it up

You can drill out the speaker. Always use two. One with a working speaker and one without

Now the crooks have blockers that block the Air tags.. We need tougher laws where when you catch someone you can send them to go meat Jesus.

Yes it is the best tracker ever, just had my truck stolen with my tools I gave the cops the location and they tracked it immediately. I installed an Apple air tag on all my trucks and trailers in hidden compartments 👍

I had one on anew dump trailer that got stolen I didn’t get a ping for 4 weeks and when I did it was on the side of the road near the dump. Good news is I found the 29$ airTag to bad I lost my trailer

cant really type that but its to funny about the vibrator enjoy the video and like the air tag ideals

These are cool but don't offer real time tracking and require cell towers where as GPS trackers albeit more expensive have real time tracking and do not need cell service. Where I live in Arizona stolen equipment heads directly for the border and many rural areas have no cell service. The only way your getting your equipment back is to find it before it hits the border. I wouldn't put my faith in cell networks.

Yes or you can technically have someone friend/family with a iPhone set it up

Apple keeps updating it, I thought the same thing. Anyone with an iPhone within 5 mins will know they are being tracked. Also its start making sounds within a min of it being taken away from the iPhone tracking it. So the thief will know right away that they are being tracked and will try to find it and through it away. They are pretty useless now. Dumb people complaining that they are being stalked by them. Blaming this when they can be stalked in any other way too. This was meant for thieves and lost items. Sad.

Lol I don’t think it’s “a plastic cube” it’s not a cube and it has a bunch of tech and a 2032 battery in there. Get a waterproof case if it’s going to be exposed to weather

Apple AirTags are probably the worst possible choice for tracking your equipment. If someone steals your equipment, and they have an iPhone, they will be notified on their phone that an AirTag has been found moving with them. And they will be given the option to disable the AirTags tracking ability.then you will not know where your equipment has gone to because they have disabled the tracker. Don’t believe me? Have someone with an iPhone Travel with your equipment and they will get the notification.

The Apple Air tag is a horrible device to track stolen items, if the thief has an iPhone, he will get a notification that an air tag is tracking him and he has the option to disable it LOL Spend the money and get real GPS trackers
