Wow, underneath. I've been checking out the pads that you stick on top. I was wondering why they told me to place the pads where it's not even my problem area. Makes total sense now. Thank you.
I cut such a foam profile, glued it to the place as you showed it, put on shoes and left on foot without pain. Thank you very much sir!
Thank you, best information! Foot pain is really evil and many people suggest more arch support, which endures extra hours of misery when your feet are flat. Appreciate all you discussed and explained!
Well explained, thanks for sharing!!!
Best advice I’ve seen…thank you.

Ive been dealing with a ball of foot pain since last September. I have found a place to put a pad maybe twice in my shoes ever since I’ve gotten new shoes I’m not able to find the perfect spot and if I’m running with the metatarsal pad out of place I start getting hamstring issues I start getting knee pain and I’m a mess I getting a full scale pain and I have to stop doing whatever I do so I like to know if there’s anyway possible if you can do a video visit with me or I could pay you for a consultation or if you’re in California I could even visit you please let me know I really like your video I think it’s the best video I’ve seen on metatarsal pads .

I have bone marrow edema in my second and third metatarsal... consistently for over a year now. I think I'll try something like this unless you have another suggestion/advice for it! so far all the health appointments I have been to have been pretty unhelpful as far as treatment (diagnosis was helpful though!).
Thank you for this, very useful. What are the forecasts for a 54-year-old? Only an improvement or possibly a return to the previous ones, ie. recovery?

I have custom orthotics that were built for Morton's, recently went to the Orthotic foot specialist and he diagnosed me with Metartarsalgia, he said the built up part for the falling off of the met heads is not high enough, should I do as you recommended in the video until I can get my new orthotics made. Been having pain for one and a half years now and am desperate for relief. Also how long does it take to get better from this problem. I thought your video was very well done.
Great videos, Paul. Question: Are calf / toe raises appropriate for metatarsalgia or should they be avoided? Thanks.
@OrthoEvalPal
Ай бұрын
I avoid it. Causes a lot of trauma to the metatarsals. If needing to do them though, do it on an Airex pad.
I saw your video on Tread labs insoles. My problem is just the ball of my foot. My arches are so high it's the contact point and of coarse the heel. I have to wait for new shoes to break in so the ball of my foot can fit into the deep well it creates during break in period.
Super video! I was just diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma and the chiro said it is a result of my high arches and how that affects my gate. Have you had success treating MN with just a foot pad or is a whole orthotic with high arch support needed?

HI Matt, varies with everyone, offload the metatarsals and stretch the calves. This is what I use with all my patients ezslant.com Athletes love this for the portability and adjustability.
I have developed this pain on my left foot. I am experiencing the pain in my 2nd toe joint. The pain just came overnight, I do work in a factory, I average 8,000 steps a day. I will look into the orthotics inserts for shoes. This pain is unbearable!
What material should I use to cut the cliff ? Place under insert or on top
My pain is at the base of my large toe and the large ball connected to it. I keep being told nothings wrong with it. Arch supports made it worse. What do you advise?

I went to see chiropodist who advised I had metatarsalgia in pre-subluxation syndrome in both feet. She advised me to buy budin splints and she put a foam piece on the shoe insert similar to your foam piece but looked like a ball. She also prescribed toe stretching exercises and using a tennis ball to relieve arch cramps. It has been several months and things are still pretty painful but not quite as bad. Do you think the splintes are a good idea As they are right underneath the area that hurts. It hurts when I walk depending on the shoes I wear I try to wear the good ones that I bought on her recommendation. Is it usual to have this in both feet? Also my winter boots are a problem I am just wondering what I could buy that would work better than what I have I live in a very snowy part of Canada

Try wide shoes. Red wing insoles that you bake in the oven to mold helps. Roll a ball on your arch and strtch your lower back.
This is my first day eith that pain, i have a foot massager, will it help or make it worse? Because i was off my feet with plantar fasciitis for weeks untill i used the foot massager & it cured it in two days
My discomfort is under my big toe. What suggestions could you give me?
I have been to so many types of doctors, from chiropractors to orthopedic, over the years. None have ever been able to source my pain. Finally, I bought some hard-soled Birks and the tarsal arch support did the trick!!! Problem is..... I can't find boots for the fieldwork I do that support this. Do you recommend trying this trick for workboots, or is there a product with the tarsal pad already built in? Thanks so much for this!

HI Zoan, I would seek the help of an orthotist and get a custom orthotic made.
Is it normal for an orthopedist to not know how to put on a metatarsal pad? I asked mine for help putting it on and he put it directly under the heads, which hurt. I eventually moved it further back as per this and other videos and it was so much better. So wondering if that's a sign I need to switch to a different orthopedist.
Thanks for the video! My podiatrist said I have metatarsalgia and suggested pads as well as metatarsal show inserts, which I've been wearing. I've been wearing them for about 5 months but my foot still hurts the next day after even taking a slow walk. Any other suggestions? Do I just need to get orthotics for all my shoes and wear them the rest of my life?
Can you recommend or advise any padding to cut to place under the orthotic? The balls of my feet constantly ache and ramp up as I walk. Thank you.
I've developed nerve damage in the ball of the foot and under my 2nd toe, the pads and ordoctics don't seem to work! Any ideas??
Would this work with insoles? I no longer use orthodics i realized they made my feet weaker.
It is the leg length that affected me and then a greedy pod charged me a fortune for insoles that make it worse !!! I got cheap ones and they work. Madge released the nerves and so far so good
I bought metatarsal pads , hope so it would helpful
Thank you. Well done. Can custom orthotic work in a high top basketball shoe, playing competitively. Will it stay in the correct place during lateral defensive moves or offensive push-offs? Or are my ball playing days over?

I have just got custom made orthotics and I am experiencing more pain on the top of each foot. Should I continue until the pain goes away or should I have them adjusted? I am two weeks in. The feet hurt whether I have them in or not
I have been having pain in the ball of my foot below my big toe. After a year of experiencing that pain, I saw a podiatrist. He placed that tape in such a way that it took the pressure off of the metatarsal area below my big toe. Yesterday I went hiking and I sprained my foot. Now I have metatarsalgia below my third toe. It looks like my podiatrist made it more likely for me to develop this new problem. I wish he were to use the padding in the shape shown in this video, that allows the pressure to be taken off of all of the areas. This injury is devastating for me. It will heal within the next 6-8 weeks. This means that I will be completely losing the remainder of the summer (I am writing this on July 24)...

I am perfectly comfortable in my various shoes but recently I've noticed when I walk barefoot on a hard floor I have a sensation as if there is something on the ball of my foot, but it's not painful. I have recently started doing a small amount of running along with my other exercises. I have intense foot pain in the ball of my foot all the way across. I work for the largest snack food provider. I've had mris and been to 2 podiatrists. And nobody has been able to help. I had custom Orthodics and they didn't help. The podiatrist told me he would prefer them to be softer so I got a 70 dollar pair of inserts off Amazon m100s and they were a micro better. All I feel I have left to do is get dermal or fat injections wich I feel will only deform my feet due to pressure of walking.
