My first luxury investment was a Prada bag when I was in Med school in my twenties.I still have it after 30 years.

I'm grateful that you're doing this and explaining why pieces are worth it. I've tried and people just don't understand it. I don't have children, nor a spouse and I do much charity work so I buy something if it's worth it. I have a lucrative career in the public eye so I always have to be dressed well. I attend many black tie events and I purchased my first investment piece when I was 25, I'm 42 now and I still have it so the money was not wasted. I bought a Dior column dress/sheath dress. I'm 5'9" and have a small chest and am thin by nature. I was very self conscious and the best bet was always to show my legs but the sheath is black silk, long, form fitting and it makes me feel stunning and powerful. Men and women turn to look and it did wonders for my self confidence when I was younger to build it up. Even now I wear it and I tell myself for a broad in my 40s I look fabulous. It was the best over $6,000 under $7,000 purchase I ever made. I do want to caution on clothing purchases as the fashion industry isn't kind to people over a size 10 which is ridiculous. It's changing now so that's a good thing. Some Designer Houses have taken serious backlash because they aren't marketable to most of the population due to size. Also be sure to fit your size as there is no wiggle room and if it's too big there are no extra buttons to pull it tighter.

my first luxury item was my Gucci belt. It was my first week of law school and I was walking home from class and there was a gucci store. I walked in and wasn't even sure what I wanted but they had a ton of gucci belts and luckily they carried the classic marmont gucci belt in my size so I picked it up. I wore it almost every single day for the rest of the semester. I still have it and it goes so well with my outfits

This video is really helpful! I’ve never purchased more high end designer products (Gucci, Chanel, Ysl, Prada, etc...) only more mid-level designers like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Kate spade. Right now I’m looking into purchasing a more expensive item and for YEARS I have totally lusted after anything and everything Burberry so I think I’m going to purchase their classic cashmere scarf. After that I think I’d like to get something Chanel.

logo belts DO go out of style. after the logo trend is over it will look very gaudy & tacky imo.

It's an American & Canadian thing, all that logo beoy, huge logos thing (- only chavs do it in England🙄💜) In UK/Europe, particularly Paris, you should wear expensive, designer clothes but any logos should be v discreet.. You wd be tarred & feathered, (& prob thrown out of the country,) for wearing large, obvious logos in Paris - or anywhere expensive in London 🙊🙄😅💜

My 1st purchase years ago was the 25 Speedy from LV. I treated myself. After that I started collecting Pre-loved and just took them back to LV for repairs if needed. I’ve now branched out to Chanel and Goyard. Looking into Hermès now.

my very first designers were - Hermes tan/black gold & silver hardware, CC backpack, GG bardo, LV tote, CC jumbo vintage gold hardware and gold Rolex / diamonds - sold all of them as Im a traveler these days. it was fun owning stuff but cant say I miss any of those items. i'm happy these days to rock a pair of jeans and tee. its all about personal confidence not what you own. loved your video it bought back happy memories xx

Personally, instead of getting a logo brooch/designer jewelry I would recommend going to local art festivals in your area and buying fine jewelry from local artisans or jewelers. They tend to be more unique and you're supporting a local business!

My first luxury purchase was the Chanel Boy Maxi. I wanted to have the big one , to be able to wear it every Day, and not only once a while when going out. I love it soooo much. But now i am addicted to luxury items, because i realized how much fun it is to wear them. So now 2 more Chanels have joined the Maxi, 1 YSL Loulou, several Guccis. Hermes Oran Sandals, ysl tributes. It makes life nicer.

Which 2nd hand stores do you usually shop in?

I love Manolo Blahnik Hangisis! They are my most comfortable heels - I ended up buying several pairs lol. I was getting sick and tired of uncomfortable designer heels. I just wish I could wear them year-round in Canada. The silk is delicate and I'm always paranoid about salt and water stains. My husband has an hermes belt that he rarely wears. I think I may steal it and have it resized for me. I love my chanel Maxi compared to my Jumbo. I'm still gonna hold onto the Jumbo, but you're right about it being an awkward size. It's either medium or maxi for me.

I have the Ana Luisa ring (and the drop earrings you suggested in a former video - both of which, I love and wear often). Also, the halterneck bodysuit and wide leg pants from Zara are every bit as good as you said! They are comfortable and flattering! I am much older than you (shorter and heavier, too;) but I just love shopping your videos when I can and I truly appreciate you, your honesty, your style and your content.

A few years ago I invested in a Tiffany pendant & necklace and a classic Gucci ring. Now they're like twice the price so I'm very happy with them and I'm planning to save them for my best friend's daughter, hope the ring fits her tho ^^' I also got a Channel mini pouch "pre loved" that I gave to my mother as a gift, she barely uses it so is in great condition, maybe she'll hand it back to me one day.

I mean we - American Consumers - I personally NEVER buy anything luxury I bought a wallet from LV once and it got worn out very quickly - I always buy very high quality dupes from Turkey and they wear even better than that wallet that I spent $500 on

I just purchased a Telfar shopping bag, it's not a high priced luxury bag (which is perfect for me since I'm a college student) I was able to use Klarna to make it more palatable bc I'm on a low budget and that's how I'm starting. I do want an Hermés scarf and when I get my PhD I'll treat myself to the Louis Vuitton Iconoclast shopping bag that they did with Christian Louboutin and a Phoebe Philo Céline luggage tote I've been in love with those bags forever but they are soooo out of my budget rn.

Luxury handbags have increased in price throughout 2020; since this video was released.

How about investing in yourself, investing in things that you will benefit from all your life. Every single item in this video are things that you see on every little instagram "influencers". Life is way more than a designer bag. I don't understand why are those things even considered as needed.

Am a second child….I am so over hand me downs or secondhand or the new term for the same thing, pre-loved.

I’ve always been hesitant to buy Chanel since I disagree with Coco Chanel’s anti-Semitic views. I know it is now owned by a Jewish family which does make me feel better but I have a hard time supporting her name.

Then you shouldn't buy products from the US or Central or South America because of slavery, no African products because the tribes sold their conquered enemies to slavers, no Arabic products necause they facilitated the deals between the African slave sellers and slave buyers all over the world and still practice slavery today, no European products because of colonization, no Asian products because of child labor and appalling working conditions, no products from any indigenous population because it would be exploitative and also, duh, cultural appropriation. Which leaves Antarctica, but the plane ride to get there will destroy the planet so that's right out, too.

My advice is always to keep the majority in ETFs that cover multiple sectors. Then have a couple stocks, as a small percentage, picked out that you feel personally attached to or interested in. That way you can mitigate a lot of the risk but also have a personal touch to your portfolio. I feel this mitigates some of the emotional downsides or disinterest people have with investing. Also helps with the urge to constantly buy/sell with fluxes in the market. Grateful i have an adviser at this point. major Thanks to Rita Wildrin Mora.

How do you take care of the red sole on your Christian Louboutins?

Louboutins are meant to be worn and loved, it gives them character :) so i don't worry about it until they are really worn on the bottoms. then i take them to a certified shoe repair in my city and they apply a super thin red sole to the bottoms that match the original CL paint xx

I will also wear them until they become really worn and then I will take them to the Louboutin store where they send it to London or Paris for them to re-apply a red rubber sole with the CL print (they take around 4-8 weeks though so please bear this in mind). I find that this adds a couple mm of height due to it being a rubber material but in my opinion they are actually more comfortable after this. Please see a photo below of what I am talking about. How do you trust any of them? Personally, I think that unless the employees Are former workers that actually construct these items, then they’re all really just guessing. It also confuses me as to why people pick on TheRealReal when Fashionphile, Yoogi’s Closet, and others have been also found to sell non-authentic items. It’s just amazing to me how everyone gushes over Fashionphile.
