THE BEST DIVING SIPADAN ISLAND - SABAH - BORNEO - MALASIA - MALAYSIA
Sipadan island is a protected area, all resorts are located on the nearby islands of Mabul and Kapalai.
There are 12 dive sites off Sipadan Island -- the most popular are Barracuda Point, Turtle Cavern, South Point and Hanging Gardens.
The island is open for divers from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- no night dives allowed.
The number of divers allowed to access Sipadan has been limited to 120 per day in an effort to preserve the island’s pristine state.

Hi Paulo, I am traveling to Borneo next month. Still haven't make up my mind about going to Sabah Islands due to safety warnings. British Foreign Travel Advice office advice against travelling to all islands off the coast of eastern Sabah. Could you tell me what are the current recommendations in the actual region? Please share your thoughts if you have any first hand information. Thanks, Tp.

Hey, Tp! We heard about the warnings and decided to arrange everything directly with the resort in Sipadan, so they took care of all the details about our trip from the airport through the island and all went extremely well. They were very professional in all levels and we truly recommend it without any doubt. Warnings change all the time, so it's advisible to check the most recent one at the time of your trip. My best advise around that region would really be contacting the resort directly, even for security reasons - cause they'll guide you through the whole proccess there and you wouldn't have to deal with all that goes around.
