I bought my 99 CV LX 20 years ago this June with 50,000 miles. I am right at 370,000 right now, original motor, transmission, starter, water pump, etc. About time for brakes for only the 2nd time. Changed the intake manifold, fan and radiator, added dual exhaust, fuel pump twice, and new blower motor. Everything else is pretty much original. Most reliable car I have ever had.

No question about it. I won the commuter lottery. EDIT: the front wheels won't flop out if ya take the car to a shop once a year and ask them to check it out. I asked the mechanic to check the front end when I had him change the transmission filter & fluid. It was already up in the air, so why not? One of the ways Ford worked on the development of the fleet vehicle program was sending a handful of specially prepared Lincoln's to the Kansas City Police department for testing. They were all supposed to get set back to Ford after the study and be destroyed but I know of a couple that slipped through the cracks and ended up as budget taxi's. I discovered this the hard way when I was running the maintenance shop for a cab company and went to replace a transmission in one of these Lincoln's. Needless to say I took it out of service and kept it for myself for many months.

Basically thicker sway bars, heavy duty transmission cooler and no air ride. An ID tag on the door piller was stamped property of the Ford Motor Company. The cars were featured in a commercial for Mobil One oil and had Mobil One Synthetic oil only in 3 places under the hood, one next to the Property of Ford tag and one on the dash that someone had tried removing. I tried my best to buy it from my work but my boss saw I wanted it way too bad so he figured it was worth as much as a damn new 2000 Lincoln... I told him what he could do with the Lincoln, his garage, the tow truck of his that I also drove, packed my tools and loaded up my two cars I was building and quit and never saw the Lincoln again. Did have a friend try to buy it but, the jerk wouldn't come off of it. From what I've heard it ended up wrecked and scrapped 🙁

Great video! I just bought a 1997 Crown Victoria LX, the car is mint. Runs great, just did about 4000 mile trip with it last week. Always garage kept, undercoated, no rot in the frame. Needs either an intake or the gaskets/seals. I always wanted a 2004-11, but the last of the areo type is fine for me, plus the A/C is ice cold!! Came with a stack of papers, I have every single invoice from the purchase of the car, up to the last service the lady had on it in 2021.

I picked up a '02 GM LSE with floor shift and Handling Performance Package(HPP) with 120K miles for 2K. The front bushings and ball joints were original and worn out so I replaced the upper and lower arms with Moog But, I might put the stock lowers back on because it seems the Moogs raised the front almost an inch. It had a nice low stance before. I think the HPP option used different lowers than the other GM's. Coincidently my truck also raised up with new lower Moog arms whereas I thought I might have not set my torsion bars to the original height and now maybe not so. The GM originally had the airbag rear suspension that was removed before I bought it. I do need to replace the rear shocks(not looking forward to that) but, also wondering if it is worth it to put the airbags back in. I've never driven one with the bags so I have nothing to compare ride and handling to. This is my first Panther and I'm loving it so far. Parts are fairly cheap and plentiful and even last a long time.

I have got a 2004 Ford Crown vic here in Norway . I really love it. The only issue I have had, is the headlight automatic in the black boks. The 4 mini card relays on the control board had to be changed. The headlights did suddenly cut out in dark. I did solder 4 new Omron relays. No all works fine. The frame on this is very rigid. But I had repainted with hammerite on some surface rust. They has salted ice roads here in Norway in winter. Has replaced Rusty rotors and brake parts. I use only Kendall motor and transmission oil for smooth ride.

7:21 Spark plugs are blown out of the heads because many mechanics don't seem to understand that you CANNOT remove a steel bolt from aluminum while the metal is hot. When you do, you take out all of the threads with the bolt. I know from more than one instance of experience because I didn't listen the first time I was told.

Great vid, man! Thanks for sharing! I’ve had two P71’s: a ‘98 and an ‘06. I don’t know of any better “bang for your buck” car than Crown Vic cop cars! Ran ‘em both up to about 200k miles before letting them go. Currently driving a 2013 Charger Pursuit with the 5.7 HEMI. Better power, handling and modern refinement…but the CVPI will always have a special place in my car guy heart. I’ll probably have another at some point…and/or a Lincoln Town Car toward the end of their run. There’s no substitute for a big-a$$ American sedan with a V8 and rear wheel drive! …90’s Fleetwood and Roadmaster are also on the radar…

Just picked up my first Vic, she's a '99 Police Interceptor with 131k apparently from Vegas that made its way up to Canada here after it was auctioned off, and I LOVE IT! Such a fun car, and definitely has an aggressive feeling tune for being one of the lower horsepower vic's. The trac lock chirps the tires every time I pull out from a stop on just an 1/8th of the throttle! I saved it from rotting away in a buddys parents yard after she spit out a plug and he decided to just leave the poor thing for a year instead of getting it repaired. Its been a wild ride doing all the maintenance and fixing what was neglected on it for years, but it's a solid project so far and back to being a daily driver. Currently doing the suspension and next up a better exhaust! And maybe I'll get rid of the crappy cone filter that came on it if I can manage to find a stock airbox somewhere... Anyway really enjoy your videos dude, cheers!

Suspension, front end overhaul, exhaust, brakes/calipers/rotors, alternator, air box + MAF, TPS, diff fluid, tires+rims, bunch more little things like that. Crazy enough she's been an absolute solid daily throughout all of that. These cars are tanks! All that's left is a paint job - Gotta love that peelformance white... And yeah we call them Pick n' Pulls up here in Canadastan, but there's been pretty much no vic's in yards around here for miles. Managed to get most of what she needed from rockauto on great deals though. @@mikk0 hey thats awesome bro. I'm looking into these as they seemed to be pretty affordable, and I remembered my dad had one. Was a late 80s model. The boxed type with that 2 tone paint. Like tan body and dark brown around the backend, top area, by the back glass if that makes sense. Folks were saying they got them for $900 or $1500 here and there, but the cheapest I found in deep south TX was like 5 grand. The hell is up with THAT $ht... Are they super rare now or something? Was thinking a p71 would be very good to have since it's got High performance parts and durable as hell. I'm not looking for pretty, I'm needing function without getting pulled over etc. I can do cosmetic crap way down the road. Folks saying they go 500k miles on original engines etc definitely caught my eye. I recently got cleaned out by my ex a year ago and this year of having NO CAR for the first time in 20 years, definitely opened my eyes to just how much a person needs one despite Uber existing. 😂 I figured these would be easy to work on, even tho I'm not a mechanic. I want that sense of pride of fixing something I've never worked on before. And figured I could build up my mechanical knowledge on the vic if I ever get one. I don't feel very confident messing with motors etc bc I've never really done it. The most I can do is plug in the obd2 scanner, read the code, go get the correct part. Problem is I don't know how to swap it out. Afraid IL break something and turn a $50 jib into a $500 one 😂 Sorry long post. Anyways, is there a Web page or something that u know of that u use to look for these cars ???

Also have a friend who has a 94 Town Car that we're working on fixing up. Luckily I already know my way around that engine configuration thanks to my ownership of a 97 Thunderbird and a 94 Cougar. Huge sigh of relief came when I saw it did not come factory with the rear air suspension. But now that you've mentioned valve seals, an issue I didn't have with either my Cougar or Thunderbird, is making me wonder if that's why the engine is burning oil. If that's the case, he may end up just selling it.

I have a 2005.5 that was built in June of 2005; have had this car since early 2014 and it runs like a top. Despite the fact it has almost 300k miles on it now. I also swapped the instrument cluster for a 2006 (which needed a 2006 PCM to run it). Oh, and since it was built so late in the MY (June 28th), many of the factory installed parts on it sport 2006 part numbers.

Also, in 2005 these cars adopted electronic throttle, or throttle-by-wire. So the throttle body was different and so was the transmission. The pre-05 cars have the 4R70W transmission and the '05-up cars have the 4R70E. Although not super widespread, there were issues in the first few years, I think about '05-07 or so, of a bad signal being sent and opening up the throttle fully even without a foot anywhere near the accelerator. I actually experienced this myself in a 2006 Grand Marquis sitting at a red light and nearly rear-ended the guy in front of me. Thankfully I quickly threw it into neutral and cut the engine off. Again, I do not think this was a super common issue, but there are several hundred complaints about this same thing, so I certainly wasn't the only one. Not sure what they did, if anything, to resolve it, but personally I am staying away from the 2005-11s. I have a 1997 Grand Marquis now with 256k miles and it's my daily. Great, reliable car.

My spring mounts were so rotted out on my rear end i had to replace it, frame seems pretty decent no rot but anyway. This is a 2005 LX vic not the cop or the sport so i had something like a 255 ratio rear end ratio on the gears i was able to install a 2013 rear end from the junk yard purely stating "2013 crown vic 373" This has added a nice lil kick to my pickup. Don't get me wrong the harder you push the car the slower it seems to go so don't beat your tranny up! Nice middle of the road peddle push and let the gearing take you there these are comfortable cruising cars not rockets, you throw yourself and your personal belongings in this ride talking 5 thousand pounds + in weight. Now i have the new springs and shock or struts whatever they are idc they look like shocks, the 373 ratio has thrown my speedo off about 10 mph on the low end 60 mph is really 50 and 110 mph i believe is really 90 mph. so that will be my next project on my vic but cheers to all you vic owners they aren't going to make them like this anymore and i mean well built, fully loaded, smooth ride on the cheap!
