Yh plus the white + rgb is SOOOOOOO overused it’s crazy, I used to want it but then I really thought and was like “wait this isn’t my own thing” I realised I’m starting to like more reserved, peaceful and relaxed builds (still with a little rgb) it’s a perfect mix for me

Butcher blocks are made out of softer wood to catch the blade of the knife and not have bouncy like harder woods. Definitely looks like a real block to me and if you see very old ones they are usually very tarnished

The wood is acacia I was researching one and you have to oil it down every few months or it will get dry and scuff easily sturdy though. It’s an African tree

I did butcher block for my desk and boy is that mf heavy, but just like yours it’s beautiful. Would highly recommend.

I got a 8 foot butcher block in espresso, coated it in polyurethane a few times and slapped two file cabinets from Walmart under it. It’s a great desk with plenty of space

you've seen me say this before but I love your desktop wallpaper lmao, I opt for a deskmat and sff pc but I have a similar design philosophy for my setup

To upgrade it you can use galvanized square steel and eco friendly wood veneer put together by the bolts you borrowed from your 7th aunt

Really good desk. I bought oak desk myself but it isnt as good as yours. Much better desk than average gaming desk available on the market. Good choice.

I think there’s only one actual kind of Alex drawer, the ones from Ikea. To the top of the butcher block i believe it’s about 29 inches from the carpet.

How long have you had it and have you noticed any bowing in the middle. That’s my only concern with buying this kind of set up and making it that large.

Been rocking it since January. No perceptible bowing at all - I've always had two monitors in the middle and all my desk shelf stuff and it's been great. You could always add a $15 adjustable leg in the middle for extra prevention, but this thing has been sturdy. The opening itself between the Alex drawers is 40" if that helps too.

Yo - nah, the block is just right on the drawers. I know a lot of people do furniture risers and what not and that’d be nice for cable management but it’s been totally fine as is

It not real wood it's cardboard on the Inside. That's why I went to Lowe's and order solid wood countertops weighed about 150lbs per 6ft I sanded and put a dark walnut finish in it and sealed it with a satin polyurethane coat. Mounted it to the wall studs and used 3/4inch thick black galvanized piping for corner support. The desk is 20ft long and I live it

@@seangus01 No no nothing like that - there is a hardline crack in the right side that probably happened when I moved earlier this year, but the rest is just normal day use related scuffs. I honestly like it - has some more character haha

It's a Godox TL120 Tube Light. The battery tripped out and blinks if it's not plugged in so I keep it under there for some under glow.
