    This episode made me realize what a pearl the LMG is. It just isn't showing products, it's that they made the showing of products as some kind of vehicle for a house full of 'characters'. As someone who has lived in China for nearly 15 years, hearing Dennis say "I don't like peeling" @ 11:49 made me laugh! Almost all my Chinese friends will purposely leave on almost all protective films on every single possible item for as long as possible, to hopefully keep it looking new for the day they eventually DO decide to peel it off. I think one of the reasons I love to watch all of the different LTT videos/channels is that you guys have done an amazing job of hiring people who seem genuinely kind, knowledgeable, and just fun to be around. My dad was a history professor for the past 25 years but outside of his teaching/office role would never wear formal clothes and despised ties. He would always remind us that while we have a responsibility to take our commitments seriously, we shouldn't take ourselves seriously. That's how LTT has always felt to me. You deeply care about the business, the content, and the products you produce while also being willing to laugh at yourselves and enjoy your time. That's all. Also a dope desk :)

    I honestly was thinking this was going to be just another sit/stand desk, but this just seems well made and the extra features you could buy down the road is nice too. I like the tower mount the cable routing and the finish on it. Plus the full table pad is nice. The price tag was surprising also, I really did think this would be at most 2k just with how it looks, how quiet it is and all the stuff you can hid and get for it.

    @@ianvisser7899 One of the safety challenges from that kind of approach is you'd need to figure out a way to make sure everything moves at exactly the same speed. Otherwise you get gaps opening up between sections, which them close and potentially remove fingers. You'd also need to make sure motors are aligned so everything stops in the same places. Not impossible, but will add a fair bit of expense.

  • @TheDeltaMoo

    @TheDeltaMoo

    @@ianvisser7899 Or just add encoders and follow the actual position of the legs instead of guessing how much they've traveled. Most manufacturers probably do this already . There also are desks that have a third leg in the same system. The only calibration needed is the initial zeroing where the legs are set to their shortest position. All of my electric desks have already had daisy chained legs. There's on controller connected to one leg. Then the second leg is connected to the first leg and power. Most of those systems wouldn't care if you added a third leg in the middle of that chain as long as they had enough power to run.

    Dennis and Colton are so fun ♥ The desk seems super nice. It's a shame you'd need to consider the mount cost of the PC and monitors in addition to adding a mat as I think they're all pretty required for this desk. That really drives the cost up an already £1000 desk but it does look amazing. I'd love a standing desk too

    While I have a different manufacturers desk... this one is very cool. Two different suggestions... 1) Replace the feet with heavy duty castors. (Now you can roll the desk around the office as needed. 2) Since I have either laptops or my iMac, I bought the PC holder to hold my APC battery backup. So I can unplug, move my desk and plug back in without losing power or having to shut things down. The only small nit is that I use stands for my iMac which is Vesa mounted, a second monitor which I use for my work laptop or as a second display and then a second stand for a camera and key light for Zoom calls. With SecretLab's cable management system... I'd have to figure something else out, although if the main tube is the same diameter, I could make it work.

    1000 dollars for a desk is totally ridiculous. The premium gamer tax is just way too high. For that kind of price monitor stand and case mount should come as standard, not as almost 100 $ extras each. Another thing that all of these electric desks saddly miss is storage space. My normal desk's drawers are completely full of stuff. I know there are purpose built small cabinets you can fit under electric desks, but IMO those just look detached and ugly.

    @@Shaibuli standing desks are fantastic. I've had one at work for 3 years and I would never part with it - they're amazing for your posture and health in general when working long hours in front of a computer. Your issue with drawers is easily fixed by having a shelf nearby or putting the drawer elsewhere. You can definitely get a good standing desk for less than this, and the accessories are definitely overpriced. But as long as the quality is good and the company isn't draconian, I'd say let people buy what they want. Some people buy a cheaper desk and spend the rest of the money on a designer lamp - others buy this desk and get an Ikea lamp to go with it.

    @@Shaibuli Honestly I think my current office desk was also >1000. Can't remember exactly though as I've had it for >20 years. In my opinion, money spent on a quality working environment is rarely wasted. That goes not just for the desk, but also the monitor(s), keyboard, mouse, etc. If you use that stuff all day every day you'll get plenty of chance to enjoy it, or if you cheap out, suffer from it. Also I don't mind the lack of storage options, as it tends to take away from leg space, and I like to be able to move mine.

    @@SleepyFen I have also had a standing desk at our office space for years, but actually very rarely end up using it these days. After the initial stand-in enthusiasm, I'd say overall the amount of people standing has continuously been declining in our office. Surely, it definetely is a preference thing, and sitting will kill you eventually, but people are also lazy by nature. Secondly, you do not know where or how I live, so don't pretend to. I do not have space to have any more shelves nearby and a huge desk with only dust under it is a huge waste of space in a tiny apartment. I also didn't say that people shouldn't buy this desk. People can spend their money on whatever they like. I have an Ikea lamp, but also an expensive office chair :) My initial comment was only meant to critizise the fact that a large piece of MDF, couple of metal legs and a simple electric motor somehow cost 1000 $, for which you can get e.g. a very good computer or TV for.
