I’ve been turned on to some fantastic little Asian food joints, hole in the wall places. And some I have yet to try. Most of these places have a good variety of dishes they offer, while others not so much. But it’s OK, they are all over the place. And for the most part they have been inexpensive, tasty, fresh and filling. When you’ve got all four components, you’ve found value for your money BIG TIME… Looking forward to more of your discoveries……. rock on….!!!

What a delicious meal and really cheap too. Thaifood is some of the best food in the world. You really found a pearl on the soi there for sure. I ran into bad luck myself staying in Phuket, I got food poisoning (not from Thai-food, but from a western resturant) I was timed out for 4 days and had the pleasure to go see a doctor as well... it was really really bad, to lose 4 days of a 2 weeks vacation is quite a lot. I believe one of the key reasons Thailand has been able to remain so stable despite many undercurrents of political discontent is that there has been so little inflation in food prices. Since I first went to Thailand 8 years ago, prices at venues populated by locals have pretty much stayed below a 10% increase for the entire period. And yes, the ambiance of Thai restaurants has little to no correlation with the skill of those preparing the food.

I have eaten the most authentically delicious Thai food at local joints. My girlfriend at the time was a government nurse awaiting transfer opening to Khon Kaen. We would meet our Thai friends at various Restos on the outskirts and outside of Pattaya. The food never failed to knock my socks off. The prices were unbelievably cheap per dish. I would often hear when I inquired about the check, "No, No, Pay already." I avoid eating in tourist spots like the plaque.

Did she go to one of the free nursing colleges where you entered into a service agreement for the public hospitals? My first Thai girlfriend was in such a program, but ended up with a posting in a district of Nakhon Sawan where there are no foreigners as opposed to Muang Nakhon Sawan where there are only a handful of foreigners. The thing is those are dishes not meals, if that's all you have in one go you'll need 5 of those in a day, 3 of those if you're sharing one meal. Hell, 40 kilo Thai girls are grazing 24 hours a day, ever wonder why? My mate and I always have a western meal if going to the bars because those 'meals' don't cut it, either that or we start AND end up with a meal. And MSG is brilliant.

@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean I was supposed to be going to Chiang Mai but the burning season is too bad. I am going to Ayutthaya for a few days first and then Kanchanaburi. I will stop at Pattaya for a day or 2 and then I want to do Koh Chang for a week if possible. I will be back out later in year. Phuket is favourite then. Thanks for the contacts details, it is appreciated Mark 🍻🍻🍻

Well actually there's a reason why there's not an obesity problem here it's because people don't eat like gluttonous North Americans! It is extremely rare to see a tie person or someone from Cambodia China Korea for any of these Asian countries obese because they don't eat like pigs.... When in Rome my good man when in Rome.... Thank you for your support Cheers Mate 🍺

@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean Dude take a girl to a Western restaurant a really good one such as Marios's Swiss Garden in Rawai and tell me if they eat like birds. I went to Fitness Street Soi Ta Iaed and was eating 2-3 portions of their food at seating and without mentioning the constant semi-diarrhea and massive diarrhea after eating 2-3 of their portions, I went from 235 pounds solid muscle to 210 in 2 weeks. Their food has too little protein it's very low-calorie, tiny portions ,on the plus side often have veggies

@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean It's the lack of exercise more than the food. Thai food is very greasy.

@@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean no obesity problem? Many Thai girls are fat as they eat ALL the time. They used to be all skinny when I was there in mid 2000s, now they are grazing most of waking hours. There is very little protein in Thai food, all empty and refined carbs with load of flavor enhancers which makes westerners think food is "delicious". Its all illusion just like their cheap fake alcohol they sell in buckets and cocktails. Real whole food doesn't need so many additives and chemicals

@@yiannis.demetriou9696Most of your 11kg plus weight loss in two weeks would have been body fluids from diarrhea plus obviously some muscle mass...I always travel with rehydration tablets...drinking fresh coconut water is also great as it contains electrolytes and it's a pretty healthy natural snack!
