It probably does automatically however I never do that with any of my spinning reels. I do it by hand.

Never auto close the bail. Bad habit will lead to some line probs.

When you have a saltiga or a Stella , this is a budget reel lol. I picked one up to play with a salty ned rig setup and it’s killer.
