NEW Shimano Miravel Unboxing/Initial Impressions

The new Shimano Miravel is a more economical reel with some high end features trickling down into it. Time will tell if this low end reel will hold up and become a staple in my arsenal!

I have a Miravel 4000 which is JDM version. It has 4.7 gear ratio and is wonderful. I use it on my micro jigging setup here in FL with a Major Craft Giant Killer Rod. I have a VANFORD 5000XG and don’t see a major difference

How do you find fishing with a 4.7.1 gear ratio? The version you have is currently half price am tempted but put off by the gear ratio.?

@@BananaGamer257 I love it, I just took it to Panama and slayed some big permit on it. It’s really about how you are fishing and what you are fishing for. I’m using small jigs that flutter or swim and I want to stay as long in the strike zone as possible for the fluttering jigs and not have the jig swim too fast on the retrieve for the swimming ones. Also I’m fishing shallow too only about 100 feet max but mostly 50,75 or 90 feet. So imagine a high speed reel after a few cranks you have to cast again or open the bail again.

Great video as always. I may add when it comes to inshore fishing this miravel would be a great artificial and open water reel. I personally wouldn't use it for any type of structure fishing like docks or heavy mangroves. Having my daughter using the new nasci and new Ultegra and messing with the miravel. Nasci is 99.99 , miravel 129.99 , Ultegra 149.99. all 3 imo are entry level / beginning Shimano reels. If someone came up to me and asked which one I would pick out of the 3 it would hands down be the Ultegra. 2 Biggest things the Ultegra has over the other two is the long stroke spool and the one piece bail. Plus the Ultegra is a great over all reel you can use for little of everything fresh and saltwater , open water and structure and arties and bait. 30 to 50 jump from the other two I feel this is the best choice for over all fishing. And to those that are wondering. Here's a small list of each of the reels. ( You may notice as you go up in price the more features you get ) Nasci FC 3000 - MONO LINE CAPACITY (#TEST/YD) 6/230, 8/170, 10/140 WEIGHT (OZ) 8.5 BEARINGS 5+1 GEAR RATIO 6.2:1 RETRIEVE PER CRANK (IN) 36 POWERPRO BRAID (LB/YDS) 10/200, 20/140, 40/105 MAX DRAG (LB) 20 Core protect Miravel 3000 - MONO LINE CAPACITY (#TEST/YD) 6/230, 8/170, 10/140 WEIGHT (OZ) 7.2 BEARINGS 5+1 GEAR RATIO 6.2:1 RETRIEVE PER CRANK (IN) 36 POWERPRO BRAID (LB/YDS) 10/200, 20/140, 40/105 MAX DRAG (LB) 20 Cross carbon drag Core protect Ultegra 3000 - MONO LINE CAPACITY (#TEST/YD) 6/230, 8/170, 10/140 WEIGHT (OZ) 7.9 BEARINGS 5+1 GEAR RATIO 6.0:1 RETRIEVE PER CRANK (IN) 35 POWERPRO BRAID (LB/YDS) 10/200, 20/140, 40/105 MAX DRAG (LB) 20 Cross carbon drag One piece bail Long stroke spool X protect

How about the Stradic fl? Slightly expensive but is it worth it?

@Tab07 I personally won't use anything below the stradic anymore. To me stradic is where I think anyone thinking of getting a Shimano should get. Few features I like are -HAGANE Body -HAGANE Gear -Micromodule Gear II -Long Stroke Spool -X-Protect -X-Ship -Bearings 6BB + 1RB -Gear Ratio 6.4:1 -Weight 7.9 ( this weight to me is perfect) Just an overall better built reel. To me Ultegra and under are great if you want something for a few years and plan to upgrade to the newer one 4 years down the road. Stradic will last a lifetime. Also the sealing is better on the stradic and up. I've sunk my 3000 multiple times chasing snook around docks and all I've done is rinsed it off and dryed and it's still smooth as butter ( but I do recommend not sinking it at all )

I was looking at the Nasci or the Stradic. To me it doesn't make sense to get an Ultegra vs a Stradic. It's not that much more expensive to move up. I ended up with a Miravel because it's $129. The Vanford will be next though. I ended up really liking the c14 platform, so I'm going to get the Vanford.

@@thesonorandesertangler I had 6 vanfords at one point. Sold them all but one and that's the 2000. I was a big fan of the stradic Ci4 and ci4+ but whatever they did to the vanford it's not as strong as the old ci4+ reels. Once you hit redfish and snook about 25 26" and bigger the reel starts to " bog " down and the drag starts feeling sticky. Heck I've had 22" trout making it bog down. Honestly if you're gonna spend that 239.99 + tax for a vanford I'd would go one of 2 ways. 1. Save up for the sustain which is like 60 70 more but you get the hagane body. ( 3000 van vs 3000 sus there's only like a 1.1oz weight difference ) Or 2. Import a Shimano vanquish from Japan. It's basically a lightweight Stella and you can pick them up for about 400 ish. Reel only weighs 5.9oz 11+1 bearings 20lb of drag and alot more higher end specs and from Japan to my front door takes 3 to 6 business days You can find great condition used ones for around 250 300 on ebay.

I actually purchased a Miravel c300hg last week.i have to confess I'm a Daiwa fanboy however Chevy/Ford.the last Shimanos I had were a JDM EXSENCE BB 3000,21 ULTEGRA C3000 .To be honest, this reel doesn't feel close to the others!!! Right off the bat I noticed a slight -moderate wobble when spinning it at any speed, then there is a hissing type noise coming from underneath the rotor somewhere, took it apart and found nothing.please anyone lmk if you have the same issues!!

I can let you know man. Unfortunately it got super cold here and I haven’t been able to go test it out yet. Looking to here soon though. I know some guys love Daiwa, some love shimano. I just happen to love shimano, but I have no problem at all pointing out issues I find. So once I get out to use it, I’ll definitely make an honest review!

Not so special, because Shimano ultegra fc have Long stroke spool and micro module 2, miravel dont have this and the price is almost the same (ultegra fc runs smooth almost like stradic FL but have ci4+ body and that body is not durable like aluminium).i have 2 stradic fl and i wanna buy the sustain fj. Sustain fj have aluminium body??? I think sustain fj Will be good for me 😁
