Honestly grease is the only thing I've found that gives my 4b/4c hair that healthy shine, that i've been looking for. My hair usually has that ashy look that i don't particularly like. Oils don't do it, butters neither.

We need to realize that our black hair is unique and we cannot fight it. Sometimes we just have to go back to childhood basics because it’s what works for us. When I was a kid I had long and thicker hair with Dax, Kuza, African pride and blue magic. Those were the household hair staples and will be going back to them❤️. Just looks lovely, simple and natural!

You go gurl! Petroleum is a natural substance and can be used for many things. Could be why Dax, Palmers, Sulfer 8, Blue Magic, Original Murray n Vasaline is still being sold on the market in stores. Did someone say Alcohol? Mmm Any who my Nana n Grandma n Mother n Myself used those productsn Dax best thing is that you only need one to accomplish what todays multihair products do like shine, thickness, softness, retain moisture, keep the curl, strength, length, rapid growth etc. When I do use a line of products, because not just one will do the job, I find I go back to the original OG's above. My generation of women has long strong thick healthy shiny hair ALL 4C type n it reaches our buttocks this from the old school product total of 1 jar "priceless" And our hair maintains the shine, curl n moisture for days n days with no crunch.... go figure. Makes me wonder what exactly is in the other products that are said to be all natural I use, because within 24-72hrs I loose shine, moisture, n get the crunch feeling in my hair because it's dry or drying out. Things that make me go mmmmmm.... I've tried many n lots of other products but nothing works like Dax n them above. Enough Said! Just Sayin!

Tina moni . After putting in a deep conditioner, then a leave in conditioner, that old school hair grease seals in the before applied conditioner, gives shine and manageability and helps with that frizz. Old is new again. Right Tina?😄👏👏

You're right! Back in the day we had rocking n rolling fro's and we used nothing but grease! That's all we had! In the nineties we started using glue and all that mess tearing our hair out!😣 I know women who are bald today from all that mess! I started using Dax grease in early 2000 hair is thick and long!❤

So try story.... I went to a professional stylist last week and she said “are you still using hair grease in your hair” so me all Confidently replied “yes I am”.. she continued to drill me about “in her prodessional opinion, hair grease is not meant for your hair” So I told her grease is the only product keeping my hair moisture’s for almost a week if not more. She was like “I can send you a list of products “ ummm NO THANK you haha. They she keep saying, Inhabe shampoo your hair 3 times and that grease is still not out(well sounded like SHE needed a better product huh? 🤣 anyway I love her and she’s great but she was so annoyed by my grease , she kept saying “and I can still smell it! She was annoyed y’all. She told me petroleum is means to scrapes and cuts not hair! She said all it does is make your hair shiny, I was like ummm NO that’s. Or it for me! I tipped her anyway tho, although I found the overage unnecessary. My hair is healthy, and flourishing 👊🏾. You do what you want with your hair and imma do what I want with mine. Love your videos

Agreed. From what i understand, all the hype is that grease seals the moisture in to the point nothing can get in the hair folicle. So if you go to remoisturize, you need to wash the grease off. Like it seals the hair shaft. Seems like my hair was fine as a kid using grease and i was natural. all these oils, i can only use castor oil which is the thickest oil out there. i may need to go back to grease!

If grease kept the " MOISTURE OUT" then " WE" would " NEVER" have hair, because as little girls what else did our moms use? Does grease only work on kids☺? I went back 2mos ago and man! I ABSOLUTELY love it! The oils kept drying my hair out. Except for jbco, that stuff is great. Well, that's my 2 cents😅

Instead of water I've been using the ole school So Fro spray activator ( in the brown bottle ) OR the S Curl ( in blue & white spray bottle ) it's for natural, waves, & perms. My hair LOVES IT !! I DONT KNOW WHAT'S ALL IN IT, BUT MY HAIR loves it !!! Then I layer with grease. Moisturized and soft. Ohh... by the way both formulas are drip free now, not like back in the day. Hair retention as well.

DAX?!!!! Y'ALL!!! DAX is a goodin' NOT a good one but a goodin'! I use to put this is my girls hair when they were younger and it was awesome! They had so much hair and it was strong. Now we have become so modernized like hair grease is so EEEW....SO "beneath us"...so out dated...OH PA-LEASE!! and THAT'S WHY some of y'all hair won't grow past ur temples YOU BETTER SLAP THAT HAIR GREASE ON UR HEAD LIKE MOMMA USE TO DO!! Ur hair will stop breaking off for real!! Don't just turn away from what worked for us as children. many of us had longer hair back then but we allowed "others" to turn us away and we started using everything but the right thing. Everytime I see a new hair fade come across KZread and everyone is going crazy over it I don't run out like a headless rat mole and hurry to get it I just sit back and patiently watch.....and watch....and listen....then shortly the videos start changing from YES HONEY IT IS THE BOMB GIRL to the sound of crickets with maybe 1 or 2 that are bold enough or care enough to save others that they will get back on here and tell the truth of what happened to THEIR hair. That's when I say to myself what a wonderful hair grease world. 😁 PRAYER, (much prayer)- DAX, sulfer 8, Jamaican caster oil - those are the things I use to keep my scalp & hair moist and it all works wonderfully. I have prayed & asked God to bless my hair to grow and maintain it's length and it did and has. So I'm just bearing witness to the video - DAX was a good product when I was a child and it still is. 😊

@@seredaparker8212 GM..have you ever tried AFFIRM? My beautician has been using that on my hair for the past 25 years or so. It's for super sensitive scalps. I love that relaxer! You should look into that since u don't want to go natural. I feel you because I don't want to either - I've had a relaxer for decades but with this virus shutting down everything my relaxer is holding by a thread!! I did go thru my hair with a hot comb last week. I don't think a hot comb will affect the color of ur hair. Just don't make it too hot to where you burn it off! I hope u find what works for you. God bless and keep you & ur family in Jesus Christ's name amen. 😊

Jacquline Alexander Yeah, Dax has a smell I don't really like, even though it's my childhood brand. I still have jar, as well as one from Kuza and Softee.

Love the outcome. Laughed at the warning sound. Wish you said something in the end. It ended too abruptly.

Nonhlanhla Nkambule Hi. I Googled "hair type categories". Most of our hair types have are between 3b, 3c, 4a-4c hair. I then watched a lot of KZread videos based on the different categories until I found people with similar hair textures. Keep in mind the chart is simply a guide that cannot be taken literally all the time because there are so many "undiscovered" textures and categories. Hope this helps

Our hair is unique. Be proud of who you are even the hair he created for you. I have thick hair and at times it can get on my nerves but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
