Thanks Daniel, my Greek teacher here on Syros has us using a similar book, all in Greek, called Ellinika A. It looks similar to your workbooks (no English and simple drawings). I am in the final ('Champion') phase of Duolingo. But I see now that I am doing classes, and back in Greece, that my pronunciation and grammar need work - poli! People criticise Duolingo but I think it is good for other things - vocabulary, the gameification. When I say the word for milk (gala) or even tea (tsai), people don't understand my pronunciation (being an Australian - I think it might be different for say a Spanish speaker like yourself). I am at the struggling phase that you mentioned! You know what you don't know:)

That's hardly surprising considering that your native language doesn't even belong in the Indo European language family. As a rule, it gets harder the more "distance" there is between the language you're speaking and the language you're learning.

I love Greece…my favorite place is Nafplion, which I plan to visit before I go back to the States. Perhaps I’ll run into you there. Keep the videos coming and be well my friend…σ’αγαπώ.

I learn through LingQ. There is no better way as you lean with content you like so you are less likely to get bored. I read crime stories off of KZread and other things and you get so used to the word orders and such so there's no real need to learn grammar.

Great video. Went to Greek language school attached to a Greek Orthodox Church here in Montreal. Had to stop as it was expensive, inaccessible in the city and the teacher was not the best. Maybe resume our studies in Greece. Your Greek is better than mine and I'm Greek!!! Off subject: we are both retired and thinking of Nafplio. Is the local hospital good?

Buy whatever books you like, as long as they are not published before 2012 (when it really dawned to people that there was a spelling reform since DECADES and they should print accordingly). Be prepared for inaccuracies, personal preferences in vocabulary (I've never heard some of the expressions they use or I've heard them in a local/idiomatic context, unsuitable for A1/A2 and also some slang is either too outdated or with a very limited "audience", probably the authors use it within their social circle or locality) and most of them don't follow the "school" guidelines (e.g. they use the German order for cases, while school books use a different order, or they consider the neutral and masculine pronouns as "the same thing" and don't mention all three, and several other details like that) . The most important thing is to make really sure you are buying books for learning Modern Greek (Δημοτική) and not any of the pre-70s versions.
