A great DIY video Sean. It's easier in your garage to have 2 people to do the exhaust. That Venom system has some good welding on it & hopefully it'll do what you want it to do. Cant wait to see the next video. I went stainless on my VY Series I S Ute. When I bought it back in 2014 I didn't really take any notice of the original exhaust until one day I was pulled over by a young cop trying to make a name for himself. First he said it was too loud. My reply was that hearing is subjective & that he didn't have a decibel meter to record the loudness properly in order to pull me to the side of the road. When he checked underneath I had a muffler delete which he claimed was a problem. He let me go so I went to a local exhaust guy in my area that was known & bought a stainless system which produced the same amount of noise. A couple of weeks later, I got pulled over by the same cop & same thing again with same replies until he looked underneath. He got up & said "Have a good day." and off he went. The joys of living in a small regional town.

I agree with the sound of the stainless versus mild steel- but in Oz the weather helps. I'm in the UK and the weather + salt they have to put down eats them so stainless is the way to go. Also on 4 bangers the rasp is better in stainless as it is a higher pitch I think and you got what you got....so may as well enjoy it.

I just dropped in a new radiator, custom build on the old rad straps and frame but did not trial fit it so after doing up 3 bolts and filling coolant went to put in the 4th and discovered the hole in the frame was just misaligned a half width of the bolt!! Normally not a problem just trim the hole a little - but of course I had filled up rad with coolant! Always trial fit! Torque last!

  • @jamesfrench7299

If it's press bent, at least it's kept the cost down and they did a better job than average. I'm sure heat proof paint wasn't beyond the budget. Surely it won't fry off immediately. Didn't know stainless influenced the sound. So do rust holes! Don't some want that rasp, at least in fours?

after working in a exhaust shop, 2 grades of staino.. 304 an 409, will actually produce a difference resonance from the way the sound vibrates down the pipes. **thickness plays a part too** Xforce (im glad you didnt bother) is a much cheaper brand, an made of less quality (i dont exactly know) an alot of exhaust shops have had fitment issues. venom is a good product.

Yeah it took some tetris'ing to get it in there. I didn't have the rear jacked up very high but I still got it through. From memory I started with the rear muffler/exhaust tip almost under the mud flap (so almost pointing sideways) and as I slowly fed the exhaust through the gap I gradually angled it around until it was facing the right way. If that makes sense... it wasn't fun.

If you're game, do play around with the mounts. I hammered the mount on the middle section DOWN a bit (maybe 1 - 2cm), which would make the exhaust sit higher in that area, and it seemed to help. I also noticed there's some movement in the exhaust when you have the joins loosened off, which allows some limited adjustability in the exhaust placement before you tighten everything off. It might be worth loosening everything, and then use jacks (or anything else you can find) to try and position the exhaust where you want it - and then tighten everything up.

Very tough. It's possible - you have to start with it angled towards the drivers side by maybe 45 degrees or slightly more. Then just keep trying to push it through the gap until you can't anymore, then reduce the angle a bit and try again. Keep repeating that and hopefully you'll get it!
