It would be great if you did some picking since that's what a lot of us want a baritone for.

I have a Clearwater baritone. However as an experiment I put baritone strings in a tenor uke with a scale length of 17 inches and it works well even though it is not as loud.

I just bought myself a Horse baritone Ukelele, and ill be getting a tenor soon too. The reviews are stellar, full mahogany body and high quality fit and finish, and the price is fantastic. What would you recommend to someone who wants to really become fluent in playing this instrument? Obviously time and effort, but I want to be able to just play spontaniously, what type of learning best gets me going in that direction?

Nice. There's a Kanilea Ukulele shop in my home town on O'ahu. I need to check it out.

In my opinion the Cordova 20B sounds more like a warm spanish guitar sound rather than the typical high tenor Hawaii ukulele sound from the others.

Hello great video, After watching your videos I have decided to buy a baritone. But when I reviewing my options there is a difference in the size of the scale, some of 19 inches and others of 20 inches, I have searched all over the web and I can not find information on whether the sound varies, and which would be the most recommended scale to buy. Thanks.

This is really helpful - as are your other videos. It’s great to see the comparison of not only sound but also the materials. (You have also totally sold me on a the baritone as a gateway instrument to either the more standard ukuleles or the guitar! I play cello and piano and would like to play guitar but do not want to fully commit…). The sound of even the less expensive baritones is impressive!

I have the Kanile'a Premium and no regrets. It absolutely shines for fingerstyle. I'd really like to have a good cedar-top baritone uke too, and probably will someday, but that would be a complement to the Kanile'a, _not_ a replacement for it.

The Pono Master Series, cedar top with rosewood back and sides, would be a great choice! I have a K1-B and a Pono RB(C)MS - and they compliment wonderfully.

in search of a deep rich tone.....I play baritone because its easy, I prefer the sound of the guitar. I get tired of the higher pitch of the ukulele, even the baritone...any suggestions?

Does anyone know of affordable resonator baritones? Anything I've found online seems to cost a grand, at least. Somewhere in the region of $500 / €500 would fit my budget better. Thanks.

I find your choices of “the best” really odd. The Kanile’a K-1 B is fantastic, but in all the other price ranges, you’ve recommended ones I wouldn’t choose. There are so many other models that are both more attractive and better in sound. Also, with your sound setup and/or my device, I don’t hear a difference between the instruments when you play them.

@@exitthemachine6208 In the entry level price range, the Oscar Schmidt OU53 is fantastic. I would choose it over any of the ones recommended here except the Kanile’a.

Yeah, the way this is mic'ed you'd think there was not significant difference in buying a professional level Uke. There is lol, but I think you'd need to do a proper 2-mic setup and get it up close to the sound hole etc. To provide an accurate demonstration of tonal differences.

Do you have any other/more recommendations? I search for 100 to 150€ approximately and I am totally confused by all the letters behind the specific brand. I wanna give it a try after playing concert.

great info... i'm looking for a baritone ukulele that has smaller nut and bridge string spacing (similar to a guitar, but even smaller). even though ukuleles are smaller instruments, the string spacing is greater than the average guitar.

Do ANY of those brands make a lefty baritone ukulele? If not, they're no good to me. It would be EXTREMELY helpful to at least mention if they make a left-handed version in your videos because now I have to look it up myself which I could have done without watching this video. It might be nice to at least pretend we lefties exist . . . 🙄

We understand how frustrating it is for lefties. We convert many baritones to lefty at our shop. The only issue you might have is if the baritone has a cutaway or EQ system built in, but other than that most baritones can be converted to lefty with a new set of strings and a setup.
