Fun story, wanted the new steamdeck but i already had the old one. Showed my wife balatro and it became tough to get her off those "Calantro runs" as we call it. Got that new oled deck and shes still playing, beat the game with every deck. Got her watching Danny G videos now 😂.

I buy stuff that doesn't go together all the time, or I did when I first started playing. I get a taste for how good something is, and then buy it in the completely wrong context. No discard jokers while I'm playing some hand that requires discards to build was a frequent dumb. I got over it in a couple of weeks but man I played poorly.

2 bad legendaries back to back is crazy

Full houses are a bit easier to make if you're not limiting yourself to the fibonacci numbers, probably a big part of the struggle at the beginning 20 minutes or so was buffing 4 of a kind and full house but rarely being able to play such hands. You either need more deck modification to get the 4 of a kind or you need more ranks to pick from to get those full houses more. Those were low odds and needed a lot of discards or wasted hands to find, so you were squeaking by a bit. Worked out, but there were some headaches.

Jokers that would go well with double fib: The ones that buff pairs or higher since you're playing ranks not suits (jolly and sly are underpowered late, but fine early) Half joker since fib works well with small hands based on ranks. one, two, or three of a kind of the fib numbers.
