Hullo Sara, I have said this to so many people over the years that it does matter what paper you use and it you skimp on anything never skimp on your surface! I have used cheaper pencils, markers even paints, but I learned my lesson and I use good to better papers and quality always! I use Krylon workable fixative when I am not sure if I am done. If I am out or not sure if I am finished, I use a simple layer of watercolor to "fix" my graphite in my sketchbooks or even on loose leaf drawings! I like the tone color gives to a drawing and watercolor paints are luminous and a ready answer to keeping graphite where it belongs!

That’s a great tip! The Krylon is great and an affordable price point, and watercolors over graphite are such a cool look. I think it might be harder to use watercolor over portraits but it would be perfect for landscapes, still life and even animals

@@SaraTepes I love putting a wash over portraits! I use a pink most often but I am often amazed at what a blue or deep purple wash can change the feel of a portrait into something so much more than just a plain portrait! I hope you give this a try and show your viewers an alternative choice in preserving their drawings in their sketchbooks too!

I agree with you that all the products you listed are awesome! I would like to recommend the Neenah 110lb coverstock. The markers and colored pencils work amazingly on it!!

I recently discovered that I love to use markers, especially the Windsor and Newton skin tone set and Copics! 🤗I think you used markers a lot more often in the early days, and I liked the sound of Copic Ciao. Are there any marker brands you like to work with even now? Especially with the Strathmore 400 series Marker Paper?

For sketchbooking Kalour colored pencils from Amazon are great! I don't know how lightfast they are so I would stick with using them for sketching but I love them as a slight step up from Crayola, and I also recommend the BiC Round Stic ballpoint pens!

I just looked up the Kalour pencils and I might have to purchase them! I also have some cheaper colored pencils that work great, I don’t feel the need to buy a really nice expensive set at the moment.

i have almost the same sketch book like that with thick paper and can support watercolor too. for only RM19.90(4.15dollar)

If you use colored pencils, which ones do you like?

I have the Creative Mark Cezanne 72 pencil set, it’s not pricey but I enjoy it! I don’t do photorealistic shading but I think they’re soft and creamy, and I love using them for sketches

I was looking for good drawing sketchbook defiantly going to try one of them out. Anyway , free Palestine🍉🍉
