    We are getting ready to start using the Alveary for the first time next school year and I am so excited!! I’ve been looking at other CM curricula but I really wanted something that had more current info and books with some color. I thought I was looking for something that didn’t exist until I heard about Alveary. Can’t wait to get started!

    Thanks for your videos!!! The one on the different CM curriculum was especially helpful. The information you’ve shared has convinced me that Alveary is the right curriculum for our family. Thanks for sharing your thoughts too! Do you have an affiliate link so we can both get $25?😊

    I am really stressed out about what to use for 4th geade. I like hard copy and not online school resources, i am considering using Charlotte Mason, or this, or My Father's World. I only know My Father's World, and Homeschooling Torah. Ive spent a lot time printing this year, havent read the best literature and just... Burnt out with homeschool. I need to find joy again in this process especially finding something my child will enjoy.

    My friend just started My Father’s World and she is liking it. There is quite a bit of deskwork and workbook pages, but lessons are planner out well! I personally think the Alveary is so simple to use and the lessons plans are all done for you. No workbook pages, but narrations and copywork, etc. You don’t need to do it all either… it can be a lot of subjects! If it’s a stressful time, I would focus on math, reading & writing, and any subjects your kids are interested in like history or science! Grade 4 is still young! Cutting back and gradually adding things in when you feel ready can really help to reduce the stress! ❤️

    Hi Natasha! Thank you so much for this in depth video. I have a question for you regarding the Alveary's books. In your opinion, how many of the books for the lesson plans are available for in print, versus ebooks? One of the things I'm hesitant about with the Alveary is that I don't want to be using my computer or tablet for reading books. Alsl, I read in their viewbook that members can get their lesson plans printed and shipped to their home. Can you tell me roundabouts what to expect price wise for that? I'm not able to get that info perusing their website. The paywall is definitely a bit frustrating.

    Most of the books are in print. In fact, all of the books are available in print, unless you are looking for free options. But it’s not many. Most have to be bought and are in print. I have found a few e-books through our library, and I’m only using those options to save on cost. It will vary from year to year, and depending on how many children you are buying for… but I spent approximately $200-$250 on additional books per child.

    Does this membership to the Alveary come with any physical books? I looked at website and I’m trying to see what it includes. Is it just the access to the community and lesson guide for grades 1-12?

  • @littlebitsofbliss

    @littlebitsofbliss

    It gives you access to the community, resources to help you on your CM journey (the Alveary hosts weekly zoom meetings to address our questions live, which are recorded and can be watched later), all the lesson plans & guides from grade 1-12, and the book lists. Some of the books are provided as e-books and pdf files. But all the living books and texts are extra. What is different about the Alveary and Ambleside online & other similar CM homeschooling companies, is their lesson plans. The Alveary is essentially “open & go” doing all that work for us.

    Hi! I’m so intrigued by this! Do they have the entire year planned for each student? I was turned off by ambleside because I had to not only piece the lessons together but also piece the year. I know that lesson plans are prepared but is having a ready to go manual an option with Alveary or do I have to choose the topics I want to cover and essentially plan the year? I was looking for something with the entire year planned already. Thanks in advance!

    Do they use books or share alternatives that appeal to boys? My son doesn't mind a few well written female centric books, but we have noticed an overwhelming female lead character swing in the literature choices of most homeschool programs. They look amazing for girls, but not so much for boys.

    That’s interesting! So far I would say I have noticed the opposite: from explorer Matthew Henson, to the Wright Brothers, to Elephant Bill and many others. Honestly, I have yet to see a female role model. I’m sure there will be some, but I haven’t seen any female-centric books so far!

    I’ve heard the CMEC takes all day…there is not time for everything they want you to do. How is the Alveary related to this?

  • @littlebitsofbliss

    @littlebitsofbliss

    3 ай бұрын

    The Alveary definitely doesn’t take all day! They have a beginner/modified schedule, where Form 1 (grades 1-3) have 1.5 hours of work, Form 2 (grades 4-6) have 2-2.5 hours, and Form 3 (grade 7-8) has 3.5-4 hours, and high-schoolers have 5.5 hours of work. The complete schedule would have approx 2.5, 3.5, 4.5-5, and 5.5 hours of work. It’s completely up to you to pick and choose what you would like to do. Many people don’t do it all! And from experience, the lessons are truly short, the way CM intended them! I made a video of our upcoming schedule for my grade 1 and grade 5 students. You may be referring to sharing a flip through of the lesson plans? I went through the “terms of use” with a fine tooth comb, but I didn’t see anything about sharing it via social media. It seems their concern is more about it being replicated for sale. But I went ahead and deleted that part of the video! Thanks so much for the heads up! I don’t want to do anything I shouldn’t! Sorry to the rest of my viewers! I will definitely post a video soon about the details of the lesson plans without sharing actual images of it.

    Are there a lot of books to buy?

  • @littlebitsofbliss

    @littlebitsofbliss

    3 ай бұрын

    There are a fair amount of books to buy. It’s comparable to AO and CMEC in the number of books. But again, you don’t have to do it all. And as I mentioned, several are free, can be found at the library, or are fairly inexpensive. They don’t choose hard to find, out of print books 😊This past year we have selected only some of the books for geography and science and stretched them out over a couple of terms!
