I’m not the biggest guy in the gym, I’m not the strongest guy in the gym, I’m not the leanest guy in the gym. BUT I am the biggest I’ve ever been, I’m the strongest I’ve ever been, and I’m the leanest I’ve ever been. Thank you guys for helping me fall in love with the journey rather than comparing myself to everyone.

I’m 19 and I’ve been listening for about 6 months now and now I’m almost done with my CPT course I’ve learned so much from MP I’m excited to finally get into training!
Eager to win the RGB bundle :) Adam, Sal, Justin and to the rest of the mind pump team - You have been instrumental in changing my thought patterns about working out and fitness in general. 1. Cardio: I was a huge cardio guy, who thought that cardio was the only effective way to lose weight and fat. The more cardio I did, the better. You absolutely shattered this belief when you explained about strength training and building muscle mass, which in turn would increase metabolism leading to faster fat loss. 2. Full body workouts: I was told by my 'trainers' that bro splits and pushing yourself to failure on every set was the only way to get big muscles. No pain, no gain right!? You explained about effectiveness of Full Body workouts and how they're beneficial for the average person, because the more frequency, the better the muscle responds, rather than intensity. Also, I love "Leg exercises" finally because I can walk after a full body workout now! 3. Nutrition: You explained about mini cuts, mini bulks and how to cut effectively by maintaining an adequate amount of protein intake. Consuming a gallon of water each day, and most importantly sleeping for 7-8 hours for our bodies to recover fully. Thanks to you, I've been training in the gym consistently for 5+ months now. I tried to workout earlier but couldn't go pass a month, as I used to lose motivation. You explained about having dedication, and just working out even if for 30 mins. Love you guys, and thanks for all the knowledge that you've shared with us all. I've been binging your content since the past couple of months and can't wait for your next videos to drop!

True, I was a cardio freak too, and mind pump has changed my relationship to cardio, I'm now more strength focused!
If nothing else….. this podcast has helped me understand that carbs and calories are not the enemy. The nuggets of advice in these shows are extraordinary.
Don’t make “perfect” the enemy of “better.” -Sal The only person I need to beat is the Man in the mirror. He is smarter than me, better looking, faster, stronger, has more endurance, he’s never wrong, his diet is on point, he sleeps better and he’s always 10 steps ahead of me. As long as I’m striving to beat that guy in the mirror, I will reach the level he is at but by then, he’s going to be another 10 steps ahead, always providing new goals. I am always striving to better myself and satisfied knowing I can always get better at something.
Just found out this week we’re expecting baby number four! I was very blessed to have to have only tried for a few months with my husband ❤️ I credit it to my good health and healthy lifestyle in part thanks to Mind Pump! First trimester has got me so tired but still hitting the gym three days a week and doing more hypertrophy work with leaving plenty in the tank. Really listening to my body has been a challenge since I was doing such heavy lifting for progressing for so long. Still keeping my calories up to maintain the muscle while I scale back. I will continue to train the entire pregnancy god willing 😁

Congratulations Maryssa! I hope you can keep lifting throughout pregnancy! I had twins last September and I was able to lift until I delivered! It makes labor and birth so much better!
I’m 8 months post-partum with my twin boys and have gained muscle and lost body fat by eating more, lifting heavy, and doing less cardio! Thank you MP for shaking up my previous false beliefs about exercise and body weight and health!
The content just keeps getting better and better. You guys are so helpful in clarifying fitness for so many people. Thank you.
You guys have completely changed the way I look at fitness. Thanks for all you do and keep up the good work.
I want to thank the Mind Pump team 🙏 You have all helped me stop being so phobic about allowing myself to eat enough to fuel my body. I was doing low calorie for a few years, eating around 2,000 calories a day. I’m now starting to see how counterproductive and harmful to my overall health my past habits were. Now focusing on hypertrophic training while feeding myself well, around 4,000 calories a day. Night and day difference! Growing like a weed in all the right ways! Long-term starve yourself diets to achieve a body composition are truly the enemy.
I'm in the UK. I find some of your content (political etc) isn't so relevant but I still watch the whole episode because you guys are so entertaining, you have a great rapport with each other 😂 your advice and knowledge helps me massively, thank you.
My first time listening but it won’t be my last. So much wisdom shared on this channel. Definitely got my mind pumping 🤯💪🏼

That last question was one I definitely would have asked, great question and great answers.
As a personal trainer approaching his 50s this year, I am thoroughly enjoying Maps Prime pro and Maps symmetry. Addressing mobility and imbalances has been a great focus for me as I have been diagnosed this year with lower right abdomen inguinal hernia. I think this is a result of ignoring a 30 year right knee arthritis issue, and training in different sports without addressing it. Maps Symmetry is highlighting the weakness in my right leg and hip and I love it. Truly humbled. As I progress, I am looking forward to putting on muscle in my 50s with your programs, and would love the combo you guys are giving away. Love from the Gold Coast in Sunny Queensland, Australia!
Love you guys and the content that you give out! I have a few of your programs and I love them. Thank you guys!

So far I have anabolic, aesthetic, butt mod, and got the April bundle with the primes. I prefer when you three demonstrate and narrate the exercises. I love your guys content, it’s priceless. I have never worked out in my life until 9 months ago started. I’m 36 years old. Down 60 lbs now but still not lean. I really enjoyed this episode because how it help me understand that some athletic workouts such as maps performance can help in everyday life and not just to focus on bodybuilding and losing fat.
Sal! I was a head banger as a child! I can tell you with 100% certainty it was a soothing thing. And I’m also glad to hear I’m not alone in this! Lol

Great episode once again👍🏻 and Im realizing that I’ve been doin it all wrong I’ve been at 1500 calories and weight 200 lb at about 15 percent body fat and I’ve stoped losing weight I think I’ve been over training so gotta work on that maybe even try to rebuild my metabolism enough about me thanks for the great content and knowledge it makes more difference than y’all can know
As you said the goal should always be to build muscle, even in cutting so we set the build muscle signal and as side effect is a faster metabolism and easier fat loss process. Great episode as always, you’re truly motivational 💪🏻

OG'er here-- I rarely watch you guys!! It's so strange to be watching while you drop knowledge!
Great episode and explanation about macros and carbs. I am a recovering ‘ketoholic’ and can attest to the benefit of having healthy carbs in the diet when lifting heavy.
Hi guys watching from New Zealand🇳🇿Hoping to score the RGB bundle giveaway. I’ve yo-yo dieted for years but always gained the weight back and more every time. My grandfather was 103 when he passed and my grandmother is 105 and still going. These are my dad's parents.
Seeing a loss of strength after spending months watching it go up is the hardest part about cutting for me. I go over so many different scenarios about what I did wrong but it was just the calorie deficit. Cutting takes fortitude!
When I was working as a trainer I would always preach the importance of focusing on building muscle and getting stronger. I would always get a lot of resistance from clients who wanted to “tone up” with high reps circuit training or excessive calorie restrictions. It’s such a tough idea to get into peoples heads that they should focus on building more muscle/getting stronger and eat accordingly if they’re wanting to lose weight. So many people want to focus on “now” results rather than setting themselves up to maintain results later. You guys do a great job of getting that message across and I’m glad you guys are out there doing the damn thing.

You guys rock 🤙🏻
Me, my daughters and my wife have all benefited from not just the fitness advice but the life advice. I sound like a pro after explaining it to all to them lol. Thanks!
I made the mistake back in 2017 when I started intermittent fasting to drop lbs, I was sticking to a 16/8 all the way up to a 20/4 and had amazing weight loss results. Unfortunately, I didn’t come across the info about strength training while cutting so I ended up at 170lbs 6’2 and a dad bod. Now the up side is I managed to make a lifestyle change in the years since and managed to fluctuate between 170-178 lbs. I started weight training in January and have seen amazing results since, “newby gains” . Just really wish I came across your channel back then. Unfortunately, good information is way to hard to find. Your channel and Sean Nalewanyi, have made a huge difference in my fitness journey. There needs to be a better way for newer weight training people to sort thru these channels, and get to the few good ones. Love the channel boys, keep up the great work. 💪🏻
Hi guys, Japanese listener here. I search on this Japanese lady who lived 119 years. And I watched a few clips and she really liked Coca Cola and chocolates! In one of the interview, she was asked about the best time of her life. Her response was “NOW”. When she was 115 years old, she expressed her wish to live another 5 years. I thought it was amazing so I wanted to share with you. ❤❤❤
I’m SO grateful for the three of you! I’ve been binging Mind Pump for the past few months and, not only have you rekindled my fire as a Personal Trainer of 20 years, but you’ve convinced this 53 year old to move away from calorie restriction and try my first actual bulk after over 30 years of strength training! Thank you…THANK YOU!! 💛💛💛
20:25 sal: yeah I had a buddy whose his son uh who was trying to draw like circles and triangles on the carpet with his pee" Justin: wow sal: yeah and so his daw was like ... Justin: he's an artist! 😂😂
Stumbled across this channel not too long ago and I’ve gotta say the absolute wealth and depth of knowledge shared here is amazing. A real lift to the fitness community overall. With the info I’ve picked up here and on a couple of other great channels I’ve managed to add 20 pounds of newbie gains in the last month and shed a ton of fat. Down from 34% to 26% and still going! You guys are great; thanks for all that you do!
Evening mind pump brothers! Missed you guys this morning, and thought maybe you guys were taking a day off, so listened to an old video that I hadn't seen. So many videos to watch and catch up on as I'm a relatively late follower. Tried a 5 by 5 yesterday and loved it. I don't really have a solid routine at the moment so just trying different things that I hear you guys talk about. Definitely keeping my muscles guessing what I'm gonna put them through next. Hope you all had a great day.
I've built up my strength but have too much body fat for my arthritic knees. I worry a cut will be hard but really should do it. So much to ponder . . .
Can't wait to finally win one of these free programs
That’s so crazy literally just this morning I was watching old MP episodes/clips about bulking and cutting, appreciate this guys
I worked 14 on and 14 off for several years in the oil field. Almost a perfect schedule with exception of having to show up and move the rig. It was great but to Sal's point it was hard with younger kids
PLEASE START YOUR OWN PERSONAL TRAINING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I’ve only been following the channel for a couple of months and came to realize how incorrect and the lack of knowledge I had about fitness. Excited to continue to apply what I’m learning in every one of your videos. Great information. Come for the fitness knowledge, stay for Sal’s Twitter rants.
Your podcast has been life changing for me. I can’t wait to see what I can do by the end of this first bulk/cut cycle.
my parents are 81 and 77, they work out at the gym and the other plays basketball. their friend's mom had a birthday, she's 108. she likes to read the paper
@Adam in regards to the whole 3n1 work schedule for LMNT, over here in Western Australia, many of us work FIFO (fly in fly out) on mine sites with work a variety of swings. Some good ones (2 weeks on 2 weeks off, 8 days on 6 days off) and some less desirable ones (2 and 1, 3 and 1, 4 and 2 etc...) Currently on the 2:1 roster. Definitely good if you're young, single, no responsibilitys or dependents. Can be alot harder if you have a family as you're physically away from them for most of the year.
Hey guyz..just wanted to let you know I benefited tremendously from your videos and I can’t thank you enough…my goal at the beginning of the year was to just lose weight but since stumbling on your channel in February, I changed tactics completely..I am 6ft3 and weighed around 265pounds in January..I started with a drastic calorie deficit and eating only 1800 to 2000 calories a day..while I lost some weight(251), I did not notice big changes in my physique..I started lifting weights again after a 2 year hiatus(covid) and increased my calories to around 2800-3000 calories…weight went back up a little bit but boy oh boy the difference in my physique is just astonishing..note I have been fit before and used to be around 10% bodyfat and muscle memory as you said is a wonderful thing…I will continue down that path for the next 3 months and make some tweaks here and there on my training regimen..thank you guyz!!! You are really a game changer in the fitness industry!!!
I wish I had the rgb bundle. Been at maintenance for like 3 months. Just started cutting this Monday, going to do that for 2 months. Dial in for my clean bulk for 6 months and see if I can add 10 pounds of muscle. I haven’t found the last piece to the puzzle yet but I think this time I’ll get it.
I’ve watched so many hours of this podcast! I love it. My knowledge has expanded so much and you all have gotten me to my goals! Thank you!
You guys continue to put out quality content, no BS. Look forward to watching the videos every time they are uploaded!! Using a lot of this information in my coaching!
I lost 38lbs (227 currently) so far, this video will help me cut to the next level to achieve those abs. I’m 25% bf right now
Sal is so on point with the political and voting stuff.
When I was little I would do the same thing with the blankets my mom found me in a pool of sweat one time because I had fell asleep upside down in my little sleeping bag. She took it away from me after that because she thought I was gonna suffocate myself.
I went to take my CPT and failed it by 5 points. Im disappointed about the exam is that most of the stuff is out dated and I just learn much better when I perform a movement and understand the body better too. Then I found you guys and I learned much more than me reading that thick textbook. Obviously CNS is important and how to body moves, what moves first. But the questions on the exam they don’t ask about CNS. The exercise questions they ask are ridiculous and I have never seen a personal trainer use the exercises from the text book. They need to update to today’s science .
Thank you so much for all the info. I don’t miss any of your videos. Is it possible/convenient to go to a low body fat % after turning 40.
This episode has the information I have been reserching for the past week. Currently trying to shed some fat without loosing the little muscle I have developed with the poor program I was following. Thank you guys for the hard work and great information
I love it that all of your programs can be run on a bulk or a cut, it literally takes the thinking out of it and makes it so much easier.
The goal should always to maintain strength at a lower weight.
16:45 I used to do this, it’s not that weird, it is a soothing thing like Sal said. I called it cocooning myself. I did it maybe till I was a young teenager? That I grew out of it, every once in a while though, if I’m really tired or cold, I’ll do it as I fall asleep and then kind of unwind it in my sleep. I don’t think you should worry
hey! yall have convinced me i need to hit the gym. i've been doing jiu jitsu for a little over a year and its going ok but i feel like i could really benefit from getting stronger. Now, i've done done class type workouts ( crossfit, spinning, jiu jitsu) but im nervous of walking in to a gym with no plan or doing my own thing. do you have any tips to make a new guy more comfortable walking in to a gym?
I've been so confused on this whole bulking/cutting thing. I'm not sure if I'm skinny fat or just have more fat to get off me. I'm 5'3, 127lbs but I still see belly fat. I managed to lose a lot of weight over the last year & I'm well aware that you can't spot reduce. This is so confusing. I cut down on the cardio as I was doing 30 minutes a day, 6 days a week & 30 mins of light weight lifting. In January I increased weight lifting to about an hour & 15 mins of cardio, 5 days a week. But my mind is fighting against increasing nutrition although I did increase protein to a gram per body weight. Lately I've slowly started to increase my calories to around 2000 cal per the indirect advice from these guys, Lol. Pray for me because I'm scared but I do feel they are the most genuine I've seen on KZread outside a few others.

You sound like you’re on the right path! Eating 2k calories as a woman is a good sign. Is your weight going up or down or staying the same? At your weight, I would recommend you do a small bulk and keep weight lifting. You’ll see the scale go up but you won’t gain a ton of fat. Do like a 3-4 month bulk then reevaluate. If you’re getting stronger and haven’t put on much fat, keep going for another 3-4 months. This excess amount of calories will raise your metabolism and will make cutting that last bit of belly fat much easier! That being said, women tend to store a bit of fat around the reproductive organs so you could be battling Mother Nature. The amount of cutting that it would take to get it off could put you in the unhealthy lean area. Good luck! Sounds like you’re doing great!
Hey, I am a big fan of your content. Can you make a video on how to adjust yourself in everyday life when you are heavier. Lately I've been getting bigger and stronger, I've gained about 25llb, (some muscle, water, fat) but my athletic ability has been completely off. I sometimes have trouble walking, or running. I gained little to no fat, in my bulk phase, but I'm still finding some things difficult. Do you have any advice!! I think a video like this might benefit a lot of people who've gained weight from bodybuilding.
Are there any isometric or other exercises you guys can recommend for hip shift during barbell back squats on the up part?
