Had one for quite a while. Love it. It’s better than I’ll ever be.
I have a 30 inch version and love using it as a clay gun. Was tempted by a silver pigeon but not a fan of engraved actions , so the simplicity of the black action was an attraction. Paid less than 2K for it new.
Now we need a 694 black and we're good to go
Did you measure the drop at comb and heel of this gun? The statement "standard Beretta dimensions [which are] low in the comb" doesn't match the spec sheet. I see these were offered in 35/55 or 38/60mm drop at comb/heel, both of which are higher than or the same as Browning 725 Sporting. While shooting the gun, having the video orientation mirrored was confusing (you were moving opposite the way the clays were flying).
When these came out a shooting friend of mine bought one. It broke the stock inside two weeks. I then bought a 692 which I thought was agricultural and always got very hot so I ditched it.
They start production of 690 black again?
690 black are so beautiful and one of the best !!!
My honest opinion after 8+ years of ownership of a 30” fixed choke trap model. I hasten to add it’s not my primary competition gun but gets used fairly regularly by me and other shooters in the family. Pro’s. For trap its well balanced, steady in the hold and moves smoothly to target. No complaints with pattern using a variety of 24g and 28g loads. Con’s. I had two issues early on both needing GMK support to resolve. Firstly, swarf/debris in the action caused it to lock up solid after a first barrel around 200 carts from new. Couldn’t open, operate the trigger or apply safety. A tad awkward on the range during a practice session especially with the top barrel still with a live round! Secondly, the set screws that let you (unnecessarily in my view) turn off the ejectors broke up without even using them. Again this was very early in its life and a factory mod retrofitted by GMK. Longer term it’s been perfectly reliable and mechanically stood up to quite lot of use. Unfortunately despite keeping it clean and lightly oiled the black action is slowly turning a bit off colour and wearing off in places .
I was very tempted to get one of these. A friend has one I’ve shot serval hundred cartridges though it. It’s not a bad gun whatsoever. Nice and light comes up well a little front heavy. Much prefer my Browning that David sold me especially with the higher comb
David, in what way are modern Beretta not as good in their manufacturing? Do you have any specific examples of where they're falling short? The 694 (the newest gun in this product line) is widely regarded as one of the best mid-range sporting guns on the market, and anecdotally, friends that shoot them appear to have less issues with quality than those with Browning, CG, and other rivals.

I think people always say that of older vs newer guns. Boomers claim barrels in the 80's are better than they are today. Maybe they were they prob just charge more for the same gun and their comparing a £1000 gun to a £1000 gun today 😂
0:08 - footage credit to Beretta (you seem to have forgotten this from your description)
A Few Years ago I found a used Beretta 682 Gold E Trap w/32 inch raised Rib....Sweet Gun!
I was going to say how amazing the close-ups were of this gun and something your videos are consistently lacking over others, then the beretta logo came in at the end and I realised it’s the marketing video lol
Like the new shooting style. Gun going opposite direction to the target. 😮😂
Very nice David 💯 thanks for sharing💥💥💥💥💥💥
Looks a lovely gun
saying that the 690 is almost the same as the 692 is strange, is the same action but a different gun, adjustable trigger, different barrels 692 is Steelium Plus, different balancing system with the 692 having already weights for the stock and barrels. it's a shame that they took out the 692.
hi there i used to have a 690 field 3 great gun
Berretta black onyx was the first one that came out David
Perhaps you should try reviewing the F.A.I. R. shotguns. I think they give many shotguns a run for their money, particularly the Carrera.
DT10EELL.... Need I say more!? Game and Clay gun.
So, is it barrel heavy or does it balance perfectly between the hands? Surely it can't be both can it?

I have one and it balances perfectly on the pin. When he shows the very quick clip of him balancing the gun his hand is slightly behind the pin, thus creating in his view a barrel heaviness.
Nice music in the intro
I was wanting to buy one, when it came time they had been discontinued

@@N0ggie odd as a few gun shops I’ve been to in the UK say it’s no longer available to buy new
Why are these guns including the browning so much cheaper In the uk vs the US.
Never saw one of the low right to lefts.
David nice review they also sell a 690 black fixed choke trap gun hats off too beretta for trying new designs over the years
same stuff, different video. something is missing in your reviews...
J just sold mine , I really didn’t like the feel of it,quite unbalanced and I didn’t feel comfortable shooting it.
Please, please, please - stop breaking and closing every gun you review over and over and over again! One or twice, check its empty then leave it alone, either made or broken - its soooo irritating! Other than that, what's not to like about any Beretta!

Correct! It's like constantly opening & closing the doors on a Ferrari, whilst you are doing a car review.

Modern ones are kiln dried tat with a rizzla paper thickness of blueing, they have very 1980s dimensions and are generally awful and unforgiving to shoot. They tried to improve on the old 680 series with new flamboyant stuff like orange stickers and black actions, which actually turned out to be a lot worse and less reliable than the original. I agree with the opening and closing thing. Modern Berettas don't exactly need help wearing out.
Its awful tacky
ATA supersport is legitimately a better gun at half the price. If you want a new Beretta save up for a 694 if you can. 690 just isnt it
