The skin modifier really helped me go from struggling to get a basic character shape to actually being able to create the things I imagine

Great video, thanks! As odd as it sounds, putting constraints (time, medium, subjects, etc) on creativity can help the process. A blank canvas can be paralyzing- you can freeze up from too many options, the fear of where to start/starting wrong (overthinking!), or even expectations of perfection. I love the idea of just cranking out models quickly, knowing that it's an exercise that can be translated into something more finished if you choose. This allows for some fearless creativity which will be less stressful and make modeling more fun/productive.

This is the type of content I need. Perfectionism is often holding me to even start a thing so I end up procrastinating 😒🙈

My bf and I have enjoy speed modeling and have found a true passion in it, so much we made a channel based on battling eachother with speed modeling to get better at Blender! After completing a character or prop it feels so good to be able to get it out as quickly as possible. It also helps when or if we have a commission and a deadline. speed modeling helps with working on things you realized you struggled with during it and then working on that thing you struggled with afterwards and taking your time on getting to know the trials and tribulations that must be worked on. Thank you for this video! =)

Funny thing is I actually started learning 3D stuff after playing around in sculptris -> learning blender sculpting, then moved to box modeling, before having a hard time with motivation. While not technically speed modeling (time constraints are not my friend) I'm starting to think I should maybe go back and see if that kicks me into gear again. Wonderful video as always.
