There is no more miserable person on Earth than the Christian caught up in sin. It's not worth it and it'll never be worth it. Repent because the days are short. Make yesterdays defeat, today's victory. Don't waste another day lamenting over another bad choice. Feed your spirit and starve your flesh. No compromise.

This is a message many Christians like myself need just maintain our own sanity lol. For the longest time after I accepted Christ I was having a mental war with myself. Everytime I would sin I'd tell myself I'm going to hell. I was in mental anguish all the time but nobody has ever helped me more with this than Mr. MacArthur. Nobody preaches better about sanctification than MacArthur in my opinion. He made me understand that we must accept that Jesus sacrifice is sufficient to give us entry into heaven. I pray now more than ever thanking the Holy Spirit for His help because if not for God's spirit we would have no chance to ever overcome sin within us. When you realize this it just makes you love Jesus more and more. Thanks for this video and thank you John MacArthur for breaking down these things so we can drink it in. For all my brothers and sisters out there dont think that when you accept Jesus that you will instantly become perfect. It is a lifelong battle between your flesh and the spirit of Christ inside of you. Always strive to be like Christ!!

Michael Ford amen and thank you for your post I just sinned yesterday and was immediately sorry and sad that I had sinned against my holy God I don't want to sin but yet I still do I used to think I was going straight to hell I thought I was going crazy and still do sometimes..There is no doubt that we war against the flesh I can't wait to throw off this sinful body

@@rileycoffelt907 just the simple fact that you get upset when you sin shows the Holy spirit is in you. Also when you sin you know all sin is against God. It's the ones who feel no conviction at all when they sin who need a faith check. I was like that a long time ago and am so glad God saved me from myself...

@@michaelford712 I was just telling someone the same thing today. If a person is struggling with sin, that is a good indication that he/she is saved. Unsaved people do not "struggle" with sin...which is different from feeling guilt. Every Christian reading this knows what I am talking about.

  • @michaelford712

    @michaelford712

@@TheWorld-xs8ly i totally agree. They dont even like the word "sin" because that implies there is a God you can sin against. You are absolutely correct about guilt too. Grieving when you sin because you know all sin is ultimately against God is totally different than "guilt" like you said. Unbelievers feel guilt if they get caught or if it negatively affects them in some way, where believers feel guilt because they know it offends God whether or not anyone knows or even if it has no affect whatsoever on themselves or anyone else. If you make a bad decision or "sin" and grieve/dwell on it because you know it affects your walk with the Lord you are in a much better place than somebody who never even thinks twice about it. Praise God for the spirit of conviction.

I have been fighting against myself, I keep trying to do everything right and please the Lord, but I keep messing up, I can’t be who I truly want to be, I just hope and pray for Jesus Christ’s mercy and forgiveness, the more I learn the more I can see how much of a selfish person I am.

looking to God's requirements as in - the law for righteousness- is wrong - we are told to look to Christ - for we are complete or perfect in him through his gift of righteousness which we receive by faith --- so we don't chase the law or perform some works of obedience to be saved -we are first saved then we obey...the fact that we are trying to be saved is evidence that we have rejected the atonement or God's gift of righteousness which is found by looking to Christ as our righteousness or completeness - if you look to self you will never see righteousness but only deficiency and incompleteness---then guilt and no sense of salvation...read the book on line called --faith and works by Ellen G. White -the chapter - accepted in Christ..it is only 4 pages but can change your whole experience and give you a true understanding of the balance between law and Grace

Glory be to God. TY pastor John. I'm dying inside everyday. I'm crying right now my soul hurts so much with hearing this truth about my relationship with Jesus, my sinful nature against God kills me. I feel this way, just as Paul is explaining himself here, I hate my fleshy ways and I'm in such a struggle spiritually, mentally, emotional and physically all my waking moments. I need help so I pray continuously, I keep my eyes upon the things of above and I come here on KZread to get my teachings for now, thu Pastor John, R.C. Sir., Lawson and the likes. These are some of my teachings, although I have stopped by Grace Community Church, recently for a Sunday sermon, I need more in person together fellowship. I tithe to GCC even though I'm having troubles getting there in person, due to travel distance I so want to have some (closer) Christian true believing friends for my life support in Jesus. I'm struggling being alone without other believers to hold me accountable and too love and to be loved by. Pray for me beloved, I need strength, encouragement and love from the church. I know I have the Love of Christ in me and I in Him, and I'm in a raging war indeed, I'm so wretched. TY pastor John, I love you brother and Elder of our Christ. I received this message and I ask to be forgiven by our Lord Jesus, and I repent of my sins know and unknown. In Jesus' name. Amen. 🕊🌾🙇👑💜

In Romans 7, Paul recounted his struggles under the Law while still seeking a deliverance, which he found in Jesus. In Romans 7:14 he clearly identified himself as being in bondage to sin (compare to John 8:34), so he is not talking of his experience as a born again or saved person, a "new creature in Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:17) so to speak. So, Romans 7 should never be used to explain that a Christian is continuing to live in sin. That's ignoring the foundation for the Christian life laid out in all of Romans 6, and missing the transition from Romans 7 to Romans 8:1 where the apostle Paul speaks of being in Christ Jesus and under no condemnation, not walking according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Only then is he talking of his life as a Christian, having been delivered from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). That is the exact opposite of the situation in Romans 7:23 where he spoke about being in captivity to the law of sin working in his members. Romans 7:14-25 is about the apostle Paul's experience when he was still bound in sin and seeking a deliverance. He did find his deliverance / salvation / freedom from sin in Jesus (John 8:31-36, Romans 6:7, 18). 1 Peter 2:21-25 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, 2 who “committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth.” 23 Who, when he was cursed, did not curse back. When he suffered, did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously; 24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, *that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness;* by whose wounds you were healed. 25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. _____ I heard "we are sinner-saints" at 26:32. That's dangerous talk. A sinner saved by grace is an ex-sinner and that's what a "saint" or "righteous person" is. Someone who has answered the call to die to sin and live to righteousness (1 Peter 2:24) is not a sinner after having answered that call. This came to mind: Colossians 2:8 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. Please examine these things. May God to be your light. Peace to you!

Romans 5:5-6, 7::15-24, 8:3 Its the Righteousness if God that fulfills the righteousness of the law. • @edwahjoshua1206

I'm concerned that many many professing Christ have lost or haven't grasped the significance of faith; "For the promise, that he/ Abraham should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. "For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:” "Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.” "Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,” The faith of Abraham obtained was reckoned to him because he BELIEVED God. Wisdom says if Abraham Believed God, God has spoken to him, and that the promise that he would become a father of many nations. "Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.” 'How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.” The perspective here is it was RECKONED to Abraham that God's Righteousness should be made manifested. Now Abraham may not have known that faith comes by hearing...hearing what, by hearing the Word of God. But God did, and because Abraham believed God reckoned the faith of His Word to Abraham that he grew strong in faith. Beloved never think yo muster up faith in and of yourself. God is only under obligation to manifest what of His Word/ PROMISES you BELIEVE: And if of His Promise/ promises,we know it is God's Will and Purpose and not what we Will and Purpose. Be blessed beloved

When did Sau think the law was unto life? And when did Paul help Saul realized the law was unto death? Before his conversion as Saul a Pharisee a teacher of the law, and after that he as Paul was converted into being IN CHRIST. Paul goes on to speak of the inability to find how to perform the good he delighted after the inward man. This reveals that post born again he was as in Adam but under the law. And if under the law was yet after the flesh and sin that is in the flesh " By the law worked in him all manner of concupiscence. Verse 5 of Romans 7 is very telling; it reveals his audience to whom he is writing. For WHEN we WERE, the key: "For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.” BUT NOW:"But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in ((( newness of spirit,))) and not in the oldness of the letter.” Newness of spirit speaks of the doctrine that delivers us from the old man which sin and sins lust has its play; but In Christ unto newness of life n spirit "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Just as Paul confirms the law convicts of sin so that they may see the beauty of Him who came to save sinners that they may receive the measure of the gift of Christ faith and remove them from under the schoolmaster of the law. So that the promise made to Abraham might be sure to all the seed circumcision and to the uncircumcision BY FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST. Now you can not mix the faith that came with Jesus the OT Prophets spoke of if you reject Him with whom faith came Be blessed beloved

Under the law they are without strength to fulfill the law. But the Righteousness of God, God sheds abroad in our hearts God's kind of Love. Not having be a partakers of God's Divine Nature Eternal life the Love of God IS, Even if we delight in the law of God in the inner man being under the law cannot find to perform the good we would do. Paul stating from his former position as a teacher and Pharisee of the the law thought the law was unto life. But when he was converted and received the Revelation of the Mystery he realized the law was unto death. Paul says as one being g under the law but was not being in Christ an Apostle, he did the very things he didn't want to do and couldn't do the things he willed to do. He said that sin was in his flesh. But he just finished writing the doctrine which delivers us from sin The Baptism into Christ delivers us. So to keep the perspective of the Baptism into Christ that delivers us. He then writes the weakness he experienced being formerly under the law that because the law is spiritual but being under the law and after the flesh the motions of sin which are of the law worked in him to bring forth fruit unto death. In verse 24 he called it the body of sin. Who will deliver him from the body of this death that he said Baptism into Christ delivers from. Like Paul says if we mortify the flesh we will live. That is in the time line of being in Christ after the Spirit. Paul is saying to them that are under the law to mortify the deeds of the flesh is by the Spirit. For this Paul says but you are not after the flesh but after the Spirit/ Spirit if so be that God dwells in you;now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ Colossians 1:27, you are none of His/ Christ Romans 8:9

All four mentions of Paul Romans 6:3-4, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Galatians 3:26, Colossians 2:11-12 are by Demonstration of the Spirit with power. Baptism with water is that of man water from a hose bib. Romans 6:4 " By the glory of the Father" in 1 Corinthians 12:12 " By One Spirit" in Colossians 1:12 " through the faith of the Operation of God. All four are the result of One Baptism Ephesians 4:5, Romans the old man is out off destroyed mortified, the result. In 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 the result is being members of His Body and Spirit. In Colossians 2:11-12 the circumcision of Christ made without hands which speaks of God's working, and is the result of being Baptized into Christ through the faith of the operation of God. The result of this self same Baptism into Christ is the putting in Christ Galatians 3:27. Although Paul mentions four times Baptism he also includes that it is Baptism into Christ Not water. Water from a hose cannot give birth to a New Creature. Neither does water Baptism present death to the old man and birthing of a new man. Water Baptism is Baptism unto repentance of thinking that following the Righteousness of the law could be fulfilled being carnal after the flesh for the law is spiritual Romans 9:30-33

I have to put a comment here that doesn't really pertain to this particular message because most of the comment area's are not allowed on his other videos. In my opinion John MacArthur is one of the best preachers in America. But if you listen to all his sermons you will here him say that he is a Calvinist yet in many of his sermons he speaks like an arminian. So he can be very contradictory because he avoids certain scriptures that do not go along with some of his doctrines; mainly Calvinism and eternal security. Check out this sermon by Adrian Rogers at kzread.info/dash/bejne/nYScsadreLTan8o.html he is a more accurate preacher.

Also chapter 8 should read,: there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. My friend, the answer is that Romans 7:14-25 is not the life of one who has surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Romans 7 is a self-led “Christian” while Romans 8 is a true Spirit-led Christian. The solution Romans 7:14-24 is verse 25 (Jesus Christ). And to know why Paul is thanking Jesus Christ you must go back to Romans 5:6-8 and also Romans 6:6. So Paul is saying Jesus Christ is the one who is able to deliver on from the body of death stated in Romans 7:24 (which subject to the law of sin and death) because the old man was crucified with Christ that the body of sin might be done away with (Romans 6:6). Finally, Romans 7:14-25 speaks about being in captivity to the law of sin and death, but Romans 8:2 speaks about those who are in Christ being freed from the captivity of the law of sin and death by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ because of the work of Christ on the cross. The sermon by John MacArthur is not representative of Christianity. John MacArthur and others still living like the description in Romans 7 need to be set free by Christ. You need to die to your pride and understanding, doctrine, and put your faith in what Christ did. Not on what you can do by yourself. All you can do by yourself is struggle against sin. You need to understand that the old man was crucified with Christ on the cross. And if you have that faith that Christ took your sin upon Him and that you were there with Him on the cross and that you died with Him and was resurrected with Him, you will be emancipated by the work of Christ and indwelled by the Holy Ghost. And your faith will be on Christ alone and not your ability. You will be free from sin and live holy by faith in Christ Jesus. Get your eyes off of you and go to the cross with humility and get on the cross with Christ. Stop listening to MacArthur, listen to people like Paris Reidhead or Leonard Ravenhill if you want to live free from sin and self.

when he says those who do this things meaning as a normal way of life can inherit the kingdom. we all lie everyday sometimes we do it and don't even know we are doing it, like if someone calls you at work and you don't want to speak to this person we might tell a co working to lie for us and say we are not there, right? but if we making a living our of lying to people knowing that this kind of living is wrong and refuse to change this life then your endanger of hell, its not the lying that's going to send you to hell its the lack of repentance that will send you to hell.

dean yash. Paul says; "I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Those sins that are of the flesh that he is talking about are clearly sins that one is living in. When you say "after the list Paul says those who do these things will not inherit the kingdom of God which I would have thought means that we cannot slip up" You just don't slip up as a regenerated person who has been given a new heart and spirit and the go join in on an orgy or get involved with sorcery. Will you mess up and have an impure thought, or get jealous? Yes, but the Holy Spirit will convict you of that and you will repent and turn from it. The key here is to walk in that new life you have been given; walk in the Holy Spirit that now encompasses your soul. The flesh will rare it's ugly head, but you must, through the power of the Spirit that lives in you kill that flesh, don't let it control you any more, live in the Spirit and in that new life. Paul tells us to bring every thought captive into the obedience of Christ; that my friend is living in the Spirit. Pray without ceasing, be in constant fellowship with the Heavenly Father through the Son; Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Like John was saying, we don't have to live in submission to sin when we have the Holy God living in us. When your born again, Christ has purified your Soul, 1 Peter 1:22-23. So put on the new self. Ephesians 4:24 You are a new creation by means of regeneration through the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:5 Walk in newness of Life !

Yes, obviously. What McArthur is saying here is flat-out wrong. Romans 7 does not describe a Christian walking with God. It is Paul's pre-conversion experience.

JMJ, O HOLY SPRIT PLEASE HELP ME. MY dear Mr, Macarthur, I am a Catholic and I would like to ask you this, you are a believer of Mighty of Mighty GOD Jesus Christ, and talking about anti Christ, and as you well aware, OUR LORD AND GOD JESUS CHRIST taught to us about this, well ahead before we started to create this unwanted matter, and all believers of GOD JESUS also know, GOD Jesus Christ anointed HIS twelve diciples, and given the key to Peter, now saint Peter the first HOLY SEE of the MOTHER CHURCH, how beautifully our Lord has build up HIS HOLY CHURCH. The king, I think king Henry the eight, need a second wife, against the will of GOD, and the church didn't allowed, HE divided from the MOTHER CHURCH, and then Martin Luther king, HE was so cynical, and expecting church farthers and the elders to listen to him, it is not happen, and he left from the Holy church, and the anti Christ ( I will say as anti Catholic) vastly spreading out around the world, How can you talk bad about HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH, which is build up by OUR ALMIGHTY GOD JESUS CHRIST. You know after these two guys namely Martin Luther and king Henry, now there are more than hundreds thousands of divided Christmas denominations is operating around the world, however with so much of problems and attracts from all sides still our MOTHER CHURCH is been BLESSED, because this is our MIGHTY GOD JESUS CHRIST church, and OUR BLESSED HOLY MOTHER AND MOTHER OF GOD is there. Anyway Mr, Macarthur, I am sorry, if my this message have hurting you, MAY OUR ALMIGHTY AND RISEN LORD AND GOD JESUS CHRIST BLESS AND OUR BLESSED HOLY MOTHER GUIDE AND GUARD YOU FOREVER and EVER. AMEN.

Christians are not carnal sold under sin! That judgment is to them that are under the law. You know Paul begins the chapter saying I speak to them that that know the law. How that the law has dominion over them as long as they live/ married to Moses. But if they die to Moses and the law and be Married to Him that is raised from the dead which is Christ. We know that In Baptism into Christ we die to Moses and are married In Christ to Christ

I think this is evidence number one why Johnny Mac is not a biblical theologian. This is a good example of poor exegesis in action. He appriaches the whole matter as if Paul is focusing upon an anthropology ..new nature..new man.. change within etc... but even quotes "the first fruits of the Spirit" but misses the exegetical point completely..the change is that the new aeon has entered NOW inChrist and experience in the Spirit. The groaning is not a result of a fallen body..but a body of this aeon...that Christ also had before his resurrection. Our body is NOT an unholy shell.. (sounds Gnotic). Pauls focus was escatological not anthropological

The trouble with this teaching is that it's false in so far as he tries to support it from Romans 7. I agree with a portion with his premise, but Romans 7 does CAN NOT be used to support it. He's presented 2 categories of people, believers and unbelievers. This is true in the eternal sense, for one is either in Christ or not, but false in the sense of the category that Paul presents in verse 1. Rom 7:1 - Or do you not know, brethren 👉(for I speak to those who know the law)👈, that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? Do all unbelievers know the law of Moses? No, of course not. Thereby invalidating John's argument. The context and category of Romans 7 is the Torah observant Jew that DOES know and love God's law, yet realizes his sinfulness and does not have the power to defeat or conquer it. This 3rd category is simply skipped over by Johnny Mac, but is the key to understanding this passage rightly.

" and greater things he will do, because I go to the Father". As John understand Paul' speech and as I know that few of you who hear, would not understand the WRITINGS as it is written: "Acts 7:28, Do you want to kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday"( as you are going to sin in every word)) because when you have seen It, it is written #27:3;13 for it is a sayings of Exodus 31:13 " SURELY written: Jeremiah's 17:1 and you will never understand , sadly enough, ROMANS, nevermind Paul. (( So then, with the Mind I Myself serve Me, Myself and I, but with the heart the law of sin against you!!)) And again the unconsiveble MINE: Obi4am da Vi mrazq !!! I have sewn sackcloth over my skin and laid my head in the dust and on my eyelids is the shadow of death and although no violence is in my hands and my heart is pure, Vsi4ki ste mi e 4erni pred o4ite !

This is not error. You by lack of communicating to others what you believe is truth proves that you do not know the truth. The truth will speak to glorify God and edify others. You provided neither. Just voicing your opinion to be heard. Be careful.
