These are incredible Bible studies and I am truly grateful for this ministry. Dr. Lawson's passion for the word of God and for the edification of the church of Jesus Christ is an immense encouragement to me.

This discussion is a blessing. As I fought myself daily, I second guessed whether I was saved or deceived. Being a Christian is not the easy walk as others think. The perception that our fight within is a conviction from the Holy Ghost provides true hope. Thank you!!

Wow! So much in one verse!! Thank you! And your 6th point on why this is referring to Paul as a mature spiritual believer was incredible. And hearing the list of men in the Bible when you were expounding that point was eye opening.

52:20min .. ‘what if we feel like we are losing the war?”. remember Romans 12:12, through Christ we can ‘Rejoice in hope .. be patient in tribulation, remain constant in prayer’.

Brother, you haven't done an authentic exegesis od this passage apparently. You simply compliment to what has already been taught to you by your seminary professors. Now here are my reasons to say it is not Paul's personal experience as a mature believer. 1. A believer is no more a slave to sin. Ref: Rom 6:14, 6:17, 6:20-22, (These verses suggest a believer has been set free from the bondage of sin. 2. You observed the usage of "I". Why you failed to observe the usage of the "Law"? There are 33 times (including derivatives)in chapter 7! So the predominant topics of this chapter is "Law" and "I". There is no mention of Christ or Holy Spirit. So we conclude the theme is, "when I am under Law".. What is Paul's purpose here? To give a personal testimony? Never! His intention is to continue his discourse on sanctification which he began in Romans 5 (second half) and here in Romans 7 he is showing why the Law çannot accomplish sanctification. He is defending the law and at the same time saying it is inadequate for bringing salvation. The"I" is anyone under the law seeking salvation. Finally he arrives at the point of helplessness and laments, "I am a slave to sin, who shall deliver me from this slavery. The law has done a solid work in him and convinced him about the need of a Savior! So he cries out, Who shall set me free?"
