The Before and After of The Ambulance Build. How to Convert One!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

#transformation #offgrid #ambulanceconversion
Here is a video that stitches together the original ambo and the remodeling and changes done to it.
This starts from the first look at the ambulance as we walk thru it together to showing you the couch design, water system cabinet before and after as well as the electrical system before and after.
It was fulfilling to transform this into something unique.
Take notes and pause when you need to.
Become the scientist.
Encourage you to find something, even if it isn't an ambo and make it your own. You will have a great personal journey of development and learn new skills and meet new people. Maybe even meet yourself!
Ciao for now,
Keith

I am looking for a rear lift like that. Was there a manufacturer label ?

Keith, if you don’t want that Bariatric Lift I could be willing to take that off your hands. I have a 2003 Freightliner M2 Ambulance that I’m slowly converting. I have MS and use a wheelchair 97% of the time and I’ve been looking for those lifts with little luck. I was looking for your email but don’t see it. Is it on a page I’ve not seen, I don’t think so. Any suggestions? Mark R. Weaver

Hey Keith, question for ya. The person I have helping me convert my ambo is insisting that I can use a larger inverter generator only to power rooftop ac/heater (especially for overnight to sleep) induction stove top and fridge like yours- and it can be made to be quiet enough to sleep And be carried / operating onboard rig in rear compartment with pull out shelf. What is your thinking on this versus solar with smaller generator back up. *note: I do have limited budget.

Christine To make sure I understand your question, you reference "inverter generator" and then in your last sentence "smaller generator back up". If the person helping with the conversion is suggesting to use, like a 3K inverter like I have to power all items, you'd need to do a load calculation first. Knowing what is running at one time is essential. If the person is saying you also need a generator, regardless of what you have to operate as this is more cost effective to address peak load and running load? Most fuel powered generators are often higher decibel and you might need to run a long extension cord to be far enough away to not hear it. Then you have the fuel issue to contend with; carrying it around. And the maintenance of the generator. And the space/weight of the generator. Also, think about where you live and where you will be going. This plays into the calculus of the decision tree. And budget: I'm not fully clear what your budget is, correlated to your load profile. So I'd need more info to respond with any strong ideas.

@@dailydestinations9416 he is suggesting to put a large inverter generator like 8,000 watts in the rig (one of the back outside storage areas toward the double doors) and run it while it's inside. He says he can quiet it and make sure there are no fume issues by venting it with like a stack that goes above the roof line etc. I live in far northeast Wisconsin My biggest concern is summertime heat and humidity here where air conditioning is needed. This probably is more needed than heat though I plan to take it to go on snow showing trips. Budget is as little as possible within reason to make sure things are safe and work correctly. Thank you so much for your time and thought. The whole power thing for powering air conditioning fridge lights has me baffled as far as solar being functional all the time since we have so many cloudy rainy days and a tremendous amount of shaded camping spots both rustic in state and national sites, as well as boondocking sites. So I know that solar alone is not going to do it. So having an onboard generator seems like a necessity though I'm not sure how to do this and keep it quiet as well as safe.

To clarify, it sounds like a generator only at 8k. I'm confident it can be made quieter, but they still make noise. And yeah, carbon monoxide and exhaust fumes should be addressed and get a couple of CM detectors. It is hard to predict how much fuel it will consume due to the variable nature of anyone's load profile. Did you do an audit of your needs? And is the generator diesel? Yeah, it is cloudier in NE WI for sure. Each market often requires evaluating the circumstances and taking the appropriate modifications to the ideal plan sometimes. Are you still installing an inverter? What kind? Type? Batteries? As you last wrote, "quiet". We endeavor to go into the wilderness for the sounds of nature, then we start the generator. Try and find a middle ground or a hybrid approach if you can.
