Please do not hesitate I agree he is simple marvelous, fantastic, and incredibly unique. No one can match his singing abilities. In our musical era only 3 men can be given that distinction for uniqueness..... Robin Gibb, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie. They cannot be replaced. Their voices are so unique. No one can compare. Robin made the Bee Gees noticeable with his voice and his songs that he wrote. ❤❤❤❤ Robin

I love all the brothers but Robin is by far the stand- out of the Gibb Brothers for me! His voice is unexplainable beautiful, with that haunting angst always present. @@musicalyte1 - Exactly. "Jingle jangle" is a beautiful haunting song that makes me think of a gypsy caravan. It is sad that the song was interrupted by inappropriate silliness. Wouldn't be surprised if both Mo and Barry were high on pot which both use. It might have been OK in an upbeat song but NOT for a ballad like this. I'm sure Barry would have been apoplectic if Robin fooled around during "Words". If he had, Barry would have been every right to be upset. The point is, Robin never did that to him and never would have done so. BTW, Stigwood said "Jingle Jangle" and it's singer were what caught his attention on their tapes and made him seek them out to be their manager. 'Nuff said.

Barry singing words is so powerful! I'll take this over falsetto any day.

Totally agree with you both, especially the Spirits Tour Concert, IMHO the best concert in history which after 40 years has not been released yet, and it has to be in the vault with many wonderful lost songs and outtakes. Unbelievable!!!

@@juanita6479 parts of it obviosuly are but you are right that a lot of thebset is missing.and was definitely filmed. Same with the 1976 live at the forum in LA which was filmed for TV but not released as the bee gees didn't like the quality. Totally get that at the time, but can we see it now? Pretty please? Remaster it with today's tech if you want. Or don't, I don't care about the quality, just want to see them performing in the 70s 🤩

@@joycestroup8830 Well, he got cancer and died of it which tends to play havoc with a person's looks. "Wizened old man" seems a harsh way to categorize someone obviously suffering from a terminal illness. Sadly, he didn't live long enough to be an old man. In my mind's eye, he's always 39 as he was in the "One for All" concert.

Yep the world has definitely lost its Glory . Lost it when Rob and Mo left us xx

I thought so, too. Especially in his early to mid twenties. After 1980. His looks started to drastically change. I think it was his extreme vegan diet ,. And he suffered depression after his divorce ......

Robin was at his most smoking, IMHO, at about 40. He was so hot in the “One for All” concert video, I feared he’d start an electrical fire every time he touched the mike.

I'm sure the tension was still present but I don't think Barry was provoking Robin. Him and Mo were clowning around, like they've done many times. Robin rarely gets distracted by Mo and Baz when he's singing; he's very focused. But his mind certainly wanders at times, as he has quite often forgotten the words to the songs and will make up words on the fly. A habit that continued. There's a show, I think Melbourne, 74, where Mo got the best of Rob and Robin couldn't keep a straight face.

I've never seen Barry acting like this in a song...and yes, I think he was trying to provoke/distract? Robin. It did not make sense Mo & Baz seemed to be acting like "cats" grooming each other??? silly, not funny. BTW, have never seen Robin forget words and he does some pretty complicated ones (she keeps on coming). Even the incident in 74 that you mentioned....Rob was basically laughing, but did not miss a note or word. I'll bet most singers have forgotten or sub'd words.

Harmony 7, have you ever seen the Gibb lads do "Morning of My Life: in a concert setting? Rob and Mo (Mo especially) spend the entire song, mocking and carrying on, trying to get Barry to laugh or forget his lines. Sometimes it works. This is not meant to "provoke", it is just the lads having fun on stage! They are wonderful jokers. Mo also "acts up" during Barry and Robin singing "NY Mining Disaster 1941". None of it is in a spirit of spitefulness or meanness. They are just three men blessed with a great sense of humor and a love for each other!

+ Harmony Never! Barry has to be the centre of the attention, or he throw the toys out of the pram. He's nearly destroyed the Bee Gees for that. And seriously jeopardized their musical standing, anyway.

The three voices harmonising is pure listening pleasure. Robin and Barry are quite serious about their performance. Maurice is quite the comedian, however his timing is impeccable when it comes to joining in with the harmonies, although his Piano skills are not to be forgotten.

@@susieq9801 I’m sure Barry and their harmonies with Maurice, and Barry’s song had nothing whatsoever to do with it. And yet Stigwood wanted Barry as the frontman, and they chose Barry’s single over Robin’s. I think, like Robin, his fans need to reel their unrealistic egos in.

Barry and Robin fans gather ‘round. Setting aside everything else, the fact is both Barry and Robin are exceptionally gifted vocally. And Barry said they liked the sound of each other’s voices. Unless you’re being disingenuous, you have to admit this is the case, that they both have unique, extraordinary voices. It’s not a matter of who’s best, it’s a matter of taste. Whose voice you like best, which one does something for you. Or maybe both do. I don’t know about Robin and Mo, but I’m pretty sure if Barry today heard about the fighting over their voices he’d think it was pretty silly. Now for the video. Barry looks really good in those pants. And his voice sounds great. There’s just something about his clear, sweet, gorgeous tone that speaks to me. He’s a huge part of why they’re successful vocally. As for the charge that he’s stoned, I don’t usually notice or know what to label these types of things because I don’t live that type of lifestyle at all. But he does seem like he might be a little out of it. Barry said they were often partaking in things at this stage, and you can see him out of it in other videos, like, for instance, the making of Idea video. And the Barry joking around and being disrespectful to Robin charge. It’s fun to see him joking around. Possibly because he’s out of it. He never does. He’s usually the one straight-faced, refusing to look and laugh. I think people are unnecessarily up in arms about it just because it’s Barry doing it. If it was just Maurice they wouldn’t care. It’s just because it’s Barry, therefore an opportunity to put that darn Barry in his place. I love when Barry shows his humanness, because often he’s perfect. It’s not like it was Robin’s big moment song, aka Joke, and it’s not like Barry didn’t have to smile off Maurice doing the same thing, often. At the end of the day they probably laughed a lot of things off, and they all lived to see another day.

Words is my favorite song and Barry just killed it! KILLED. IT. He just reaches in and pulls your heart out with this version! Oh my gosh I am melting! I love you dear Barry!!!

Jingle Jangle is some of their best work in my book. So haunting and beautiful. People remember the falsetto but not as much those deep lows that I’m jealous I can’t hit 😂 I think this segued into In The Morning afterward, which was more a showcase for Barry but had great 3 part harmony too.
