@@QTr_Ent1701 Was it canceled? I don't think so. It has a well rounded ending and didn't need further seasons. Honestly, in my opinion it's perfect after 2. Season 1 is better than Season 2 though.

@@tube3183 It was cancelled. Obviously when the creators and writers knew that they planned a way to have a kind of closed ending while still doing a lot of the things that were planned for multiple seasons, and it shows. It feels rushed and in a way unsatisfying. I still like the second season, but it's a very noticeable step down from the previous one. Rome's cancellation is definitely one of the worst decisions in the history of TV lol.

I was about to comment that. Madmen is a really fantastic series that i didn't expect to be a masterpiece. I started this series with low expectations and in one day i finished 2 season. Anyone, who didnt watched madmen please give it a try. You will love it.
The series exceptionally well-made, probably the best in the genre. Every character so lively and the depiction is spot on. I was moved by the scene from the Kalends of February where Caesar is struck and then struggles, that shot feels like a Renaissance painting came alive, it was perfect, and many other which were just too real. Best series ever, followed by I Claudius. Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo, 13 Forever!

Is it possible for a show to be massively popular and still underrated? Game of Thrones and every other massive epic fantasy/historical drama owes its existence to this show. The wonders we could've seen if it had been allowed to go for its full run. Instead it had to cram three seasons' worth of story into the back half of season 2 because HBO executives were/are idiots.

Rome was a sort of Game of Thrones dress rehearsal. It's a superb series, ambitious and mastered, but those who consider it superior to Game of Thrones are dishonest. Everything we see in Rome, GOT will offer more accomplished, more grandiose, more beautiful.
