I have been following your videos since early on, Mike. Your clarity, correctness, and enthusiasm are outstanding teaching virtues. Thanks. In the 1980, 3 other guitar-playing friends decided to form a serious Beatles cover band. We did mostly pre-moustache Beatles, and a lot much of the first 3 albums. I was the only guitarist in the band with any experience playing drums (long ago, my brother the drummer's kit), so I volunteered to play Ringo's drum parts. I learned fast and got as deeply into Ringo's playing as a right-hander could go. The band played local gigs on the SF peninsula for 8 years. In all that time, I never learned a single song on guitar. So I went back to playing guitar and writing songs with friends. Ten years later I got invited to join some hot players who were playing a lot of Beatles songs and other covers from the 60s, recording and gigging locally. Not only did they want me to play drums, but the fantastic guitarist who lead the band always played a standard guitar upside down, Hendrix-style. I sat across from in rehearsals watched him for years but never learned a thing! It was all upside down. That band broke up after many years and I returned to playing guitar and writing songs with other friends. As I had been doing since the mid-60s when I first heard the Beatles and picked up a guitar for the first time, I continued as a guitarist. Now I have my own band, mostly playing my originals at local venues, but we have started to mix in some Beatles songs. (These are especially for the audience members who don't listen to the music, but only hear it.) I mentioned your lessons to the lead guitarist in my band. Now he wants to replace my songs with Beatles songs! I blame you. But now I can learn the John Lennon parts with the same seriousness I brought to learning to play like Ringo in the that first Beatles band 40 years ago. So, thanks!

So, thanks!
I follow all your vids. Great stuff. This vid brought back some great memories. I had the pleasure of playing this song for John & Yoko in August of '79 in Tokyo. I did my impression of him and he loved it. They stayed for 3 hours. He was in a great mood... He said something that night that I'm sure you will like... He said... "All musicians are my friends"
Yes Mike your singing was awesome - thank you so much for your great Beatles videos - all done with such love & attention - love ‘em all!!👍🏻🎸🎶😀
Great job as always, Mike.

Fantastic performance Mike, great job ! This is one of those songs I've always thought is simple and never bothered looking at the detail....you've just straightened out more than a dozen mistakes !
Mike - I love your tutorials and just watching you play! Amazing stuff

Fabulous job Mike! You are the best!
Magnificent. Waited 55 years to see and hear this explained so well.
Mike you nailed the lead vox. One of your very top lead vocals that I have heard out of you. Kickin ass and separating the posers.
Love your Beatles stuff, thank you Mike.
Truly beautiful playing and your attempt at the song at the end was awesome!!!
Mike, a great breakdown of this song. I really appreciate your attention to detail and the hard work that must have taken. I am a 65 year old guitarist and like many other guitarists my age I can testify that the Beatles were the reason I play today and I must say this was one of the best remakes of the song I have heard in all those years. Keep up the great work and Thank You!

You are very kind but I am not a fan of my voice. Truth be told, I never like anybody’s voice singing the Beatles. John and Paul had such charming voices. Their personal charm came through even when they were screaming. Nobody has ever gotten close to that in my humble opinion.

@@MPfrance I agree with you, nobody can reproduce the original charm of their voices, they are amazing singers and they can sing in a way that makes their compositions shine even more. But your voice does justice to a good interpretation of Twist and Shout, which is not an easy song! Also, I honestly believe you are a very good educator and I respect that very much. So, cheers to you and cheers to John and Paul!
Utterly stupendous Mike! That was brilliant both in explanation and execution. You are an amazing talent Sir! Thank You!💙🙏👏👏👏

Hey Mike love the video, big Beatles fan! Love how you really get into the authenticity of the track
damn he got the distortion in the singing down, thanks for all your lessons. Genuinely.
Mike is better than google , amazing how he knows all this stuff about how the Beatles recorded their songs and what they said and did
Thanks, Mike. I always loved the Beatles version of Twist And Shout.
We started learning this song in my music class, and initially I was thinking it's kind of lame - just a three chord song. But that's because I can't dissect it and see all the nuances that Mike brings! After watching this I'm totally stoked to be learning it. And I agree, that was an insane vocal!
Wow Mike...I love your passion for the Beatles and their music. I was 11 yrs. old when the whole nation was watching on Feb. 9, 1964. Your passion matches mine...or my passion matches yours. Another great video from you.
Loved this Mike!❤
Your too modest Mike, that was an excellent cover both vocally and musically!.. Thank you for all your efforts with these Beatle and other postings, really appreciate it! - James 🎸
I've been waiting for this one!!
That was awesome! Your vocals at the end was a perfect touch to your love and detail of a great band and song! From Cleveland Ohio the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Thanx Mate!

Best cover since the Beatles! Great job.
I like the recording history you provide. It adds a lot to the lesson. And your version of the fab four at the end very impressive
Love your videos Mike! You really nailed this one. Really liked your singing and harmonies. Thanks for posting 🎤🎸🎧🥁👍
❤️ this and all your stuff. Please don’t apologize for your singing. In my amateur opinion (like most listeners) you are terrific. Really love all your stuff. Not just the music- back story is always great. If we weren’t super interested in the Beatles, we wouldn’t be here in the first place. Cheers.

Always loved playing this song too. Great job again Mike, thanks😄
Great vocals! Thanks for a great lesson.
Great job Mike!!!
Great video. Fascinating the variants on Lennon’s part... I’d always played it slightly differently. And you do yourself a disservice - great vocal - that’s an impossible song to sing and you nailed it. Loving your current Beatles videos. Simon
As always, excellent playing, excellent teaching, and excellent singing!! I’ve tried Lennon’s part. It’s a workout for sure. I always end up coughing just trying to belt it out like John. Great job!
Another brilliant Beatles lesson and great vocals. Hope your voice has recovered Mike.
Great job on the vocal Mike. Keep these videos coming.
Awesome job on this one and all of these! Thoroughly enjoyable and extremely informative. Thanks!
