The Beatles - Don't Let Me Down
Музыка
The Beatles performing "Don't Let Me Down.”
Written by John as an expression of his love for Yoko Ono, the song is heartfelt and passionate. As John told Rolling Stone magazine in 1970, “When it gets down to it, when you’re drowning, you don’t say, ‘I would be incredibly pleased if someone would have the foresight to notice me drowning and come and help me,’ you just scream.”
During filming on the roof of Apple, two days after the recording of the track, the band played ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ right after doing two versions of 'Get Back’ and it led straight into 'I’ve Got A Feeling’. Michael Lindsay-Hogg was once again directing a Beatles’ shoot. He and Paul met regularly at the tail end of 1968, while Hogg was directing The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, to discuss the filming of The Beatles’ session in January. By the time that fateful Thursday came around, the penultimate day of January would be the last time The Beatles ever played together in front of any kind of audience.
This is not the version of ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ heard on the single but the version from the Let It Be… Naked album - a composite of both versions that were performed on the roof of Apple in Savile Row

@@slimva6547 It is live actually. Although it is slightly edited here. This song was performed twice on the rooftop and this video is mostly the better first version. Lennon messed up the vocals on the third verse and that line has been replaced with a bit of the second version here. The full unedited first version has now been released on the new box set.
Imagine walking down the road on the way to do whatever you’re doing and witness the Beatles playing on the roof of their studio, unbeknownst to many, for the last time ever. No one would believe why you were late.

@marcuspi999
7 жыл бұрын
+Nicole Barret It was their last performance. They hadn't been on tour since 1966. They were a studio band by then and didn't play concerts. It's obvious that this made them feel good again because it was just them up there playing music together like it used to be. No egos fighting for their creative input. But as far as the breakup later that year every member has said that they pretty much knew it was over. There were constant fights between John and Paul. John knew for sure. He's the one that broke and announced he was quitting. Just one of those things.

Marcus Irwin oh that's quite sad Actually I thought that they all got on good Well anyway all good things must come to an end
@marcuspi999
7 жыл бұрын
+Nicole Barrett I think they all stayed friends. It was really more like sibling rivalry. It was mainly John and Paul. George and Ringo kind of just said that they were just sick of John and Paul fighting. Also, they were pretty lost when Brian Epstein died of a drug overdose. John was always the leader of the band, but ever since Sgt. Pepper, Paul started taking the reins quite a bit more. You know, just tensions between strong willed creative geniuses. Of course, don't forget Yoko. They were like 4 brothers and then all of a sudden John starts bringing this weird woman to their writing and performing sessions who wasn't shy about giving her opinions about their actual creative process. I can't even imagine how awful that must have been for the other three, especially Paul. What a complete nightmare. So, yeah. Quite sad. So for all of that, it's why people watch this little roof top concert with such reverence. By the way, you're British, aren't you?

I have only recently started listening to the Beatles but this is already one of my favourite bands ever, the music is amazing, the music video is spectacular. I dont know why, but I absolutely love this song and the album it came from. I now understand why the beatles is the most successful band in history, they truly are amazing and its very sad that this was the end of one of the greatest bands in history. We will always remember them, forever and ever, until the end of the worlds come!
Love, love that song and its beautiful to see George Harrison and John Lennon and they were so young, one of the greatest entertainers ever 😊🎉❤

The GREATEST concert ever!!! By the world's greatest band ever. And they did it for free on their studio rooftop for the community they started from, until the police forced them to stop. Being a young person I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to find and bathe in appreciation for music like and by them. Can’t stop watching this, not sure if it’s my obsession with avoiding today’s day and age or if it’s truly my kind of sound. Either way I cannot stop listening to them. Also not sure if them being the majority of my music is not being diverse/ obsessed or a genuine reaction from me to gravitate towards sounds like this due to the healing I believe it has on a soul and multiple different variations. However this group makes me envy being alive during this era. Long live the beatles, peace and love❤️

"The Beatles' contract with Allen Klein meant that all earnings made from each member's solo works were to go into the Apple "pot". In August 1970, McCartney began steps to dissolve the Beatles' partnership, arguing his financial and artistic freedom was infringed." first thing that comes up form google

I am overwhelmed, broken, touched and can't stop crying... this is a very heartfelt moment for me... words can't express my joy, satisfaction, gratitude, and nostalgia... I feel like I am in a sublime divine spiritual realm and God has accepted me in paradise... and I get to spend my remaining days with John Lennon and George Harrison... I have finally achieved redemption and nirvana... they sang their hearts and souls out... my soul is cleansed, my heart broken and my scale of fulfillment and satisfaction goes beyond the clouds... beyond unfathomable heights...
