You can watch the day after the Get Back rooftop concert and see how they teased us with partial versions of songs in order to set up the Let it Be re-release..

No, the difference is Michael Lindsay-Hogg didn’t want that surrealistic picture quality in Get Back because he wanted to preserve the integrity of the 1970 film. I completely agree with this as it gives Let It Be it’s own identity.

I enjoyed it but didn't get much out of it. Get Back is definitely the ultimate deep dive into this period. Glad we have it though!

Nice review,Larry. I watched it twice yesterday on Disney and I absolutely loved it. I have a beat up old video copy and a Japanese bootleg dvd copy, but it’s like seeing it for the first time. The picture quality is stunning, as is the sound. I appreciate both Get Back and Let It Be….. both great movies/docs. Happy birthday,Michael. Your dad rocks! ✌️🎂✌️🎂

Haven't watched the updated Let It Be movie, yet. I watched it on VHS a good 30+ years ago. I remember it being drab - the color, the feeling, the thrust of the movie. Lindsey-Hogg made a drab movie. The Peter Jackson doc is far from that and I'm so happy we all got to see it. Now THAT is one of the greatest gifts we all got to witness. But one of the songs from the movie that I always hoped they'd release is the electric version of "Two Of Us." To my knowledge, they haven't done so, yet. It's a shame, as it's one of the few outtakes from the Get Back/Let It Be project that I love.

Very well done I think Let be was really well restored finally over 50 years #Beatles Let It be* kept in the Apple 🍏 Storage vault

This was a dream release for me! I've had a bootleg DVD copy of Let It Be for over 10 years, in very poor quality, and desperately craved a new restored version. The footage may appear a little grainy and less bright compared to the Get Back docu-series because Michael Lindsay-Hogg wanted it to retain it's vintage film look. As much as I LOVE Get Back, at times that footage looked overly processed and their faces looked "marbley" and artificial. In Let It Be, with the grain, if you look closely, there's actually more natural definition to the picture. That's a really thought provoking statement you made about how there are many fans who never got to see this movie re-released, and it does make you grateful just to be around to witness these gems that have sat in a vault for over 50 years. I don't take anything for granted, and have appreciated everything Apple has put out the last 15 years or so. Hoping this will be followed by a Blu-ray release with bonus features! The run-time is only 80 minutes, so they could stuff a single disc with interviews, commentaries, full performances, extended scenes, and maybe even a feature to watch the rooftop concert where you can change between different camera angles! I can dream, right? All the best, Larry! :D

This cheap skate doesn't have Disney+ If I were to see the restored film, I would expect an excellent shape picture and improved 2-channel stereo sound or a surround sound setup. I think I'd rather see it on a very large theatre screen with many other people rather than almost any home theatre set-up. Happy Birthday to your son! And by the way, you ARE high-quality entertainment.

Building on my previous comment, it would have been nice if in the original Let it Be movie, Hogg had have included snippets of the following: - short clips of the chatter around the kit in twickenham, from all of them - a shot of them discussing different ideas for concert venues - them rehearsing 'All things must pass' together (other songs were inlcuded not on the album) - short clip of the evolution go 'Get back' - short clip of the scene were they are fooling around and John says 'were the F....g Beatles' - introduction to Billy Preston - George saying he didn't want to go on the roof - The scene after the concert with them enjoying the playback. Some of this could have been worked in and the movie would have made more sense, and more even between all of them.

Hi Larry, yes there is this problem with let it Be that if you dont know the story, there is a lot that needs explaining. In get Back everything was explained like George leaving and Billy Preston's arrival etc . But despite all that I really enjoyed seeing it again in such great quality

The rooftop is golden. The rest doesnt really interest me( I'm claustrophobic so maybe that's it).☮️" I think youre daft..." One of my favorite quotes. I think the cameras made them self-conscious.

I believe when the Beatles stopped touring was because John didn't that is why Paul formed a group cause he wanted to tour and perform because he loved doing so. Correct me if I am wrong. 😎👍

John and George wanted out Larry and Happy Birthday Michael, ending the Beatles broke Paul and Ringo's heart, they both hit the bottle pretty hard after the Beatles ended,John strangely enough kind of enjoyed the whole thing and it truly was a sad event, especially for all of us fans who loved them and who all these years later still crave anything Beatles, the Beatles Larry simply were without exaggeration the greatest band ever,no other band even comes close. It sounds like you’re trying to be too nice here, not to step on toes…. I saw let it be around 1980 in the movie theater. It was good to see at the time but indeed it felt like a document of their break up, and what I’d heard that it was mainly paul in the spotlight seems true. After seeing it again now, I am so glad for the Get Back project. Let it be just seems like a small random snapshot of what was recorded that month. I think it’s very sad and unfortunate that for all those years people only had let it be. I feel like they and Hogg could have made a much better picture. I really don’t understand most of his choices.

I'm not trying to be "too nice" or "step on toes", I am reviewing the movie NOW, not back when it came out or in the 80's. Since we have Get Back I enjoy Let It Be much more, so that is why it is a positive review.

Totally agree it could have been better, but even back in 1981 when I saw Let It Be in a theater I loved it, even though the quality of the film was dark and depressing at times. The rooftop performance made me very happy as I was leaving the theater.
