Perhaps the most beautiful song ever. There are definitely more complex instrumentals, more technical guitar playing, more impressive vocals, but there isn't a single song that is more beautiful than this one. The amount of happiness that you get from listening to this song is insane. It's more addictive than any drug known to man. There will never be another band like the Beatles, ever!!!

George Harrison has helmed some of the greatest Beatles songs and he didnt even do that many..

It's incredible to think that the "Quiet Beatle" ended up writing not only The Beatles' most popular song, but one of the greatest songs to ever exist in this world.

I can't believe this song is 50 years old. When it first heard it, it wasn't even 30 yet and George was still with us.

I had the same thought some years ago. On a rainy day at the end of the Requiem Mass for one of my wife's sisters, as we turned to leave the Church, sunlight started to shine through the stained glass and illuminate the place. Knowing that the struggle with cancer was over, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief. This song immediately came to mind and I had to play the record when we got home. I still do.

One of the things that makes the Beatles a cut above the rest is that on their best work (quite a bit of it!) every part is great. No filler or padding out the sound for the sake of it.

Basically, I grew up listening to them and trying to learn how to sing their songs (I'm from Brazil, so singing in English is a bit complicated for me, hahaha). @@zdvxr "Norwegian Wood" is credited to Lennon/McCartney, not George. "Something" is mawkishly sentimental and no great shakes melodically. George has much better Beatles songs than that: "Here Comes the Sun", "I Want to Tell You", "I Need You", "If I needed Someone", "Long, Long, Long", or "Taxman". He also has several great tunes from his solo career.

always loved this song. its one of George's best.

It's amazing. Even when my cat is in a grumpy mood and won't come snuggle in I play this song and before the 1st chorus she is snuggled in. Works just about every time. Not sure what is going on other then this song is great enough to calm a cat. Or, she is just a Beatles/Harrison fan. Who knows? She can't speak. Just actions. I will play it 3-4 times in a row and she is asleep all nuzzled into me.

Update: My cat went missing for almost 2 weeks and I was heartbroken. Turns out she wondered off across the street and a cat lover took it home. But she wanted to find the owner and was calling around local businesses until it eventually lead to me and it was returned. I imagine it was a little sketched out from the experience and it was being a bit stand offish. So, I played this song and it let out a big "meow" cry, and now everything is back to normal. As odd as it comes off it seems this song is as special to my cat as it is to me. Bless you George. Clapton must have been spellbound when George came up with this song in his yard. Well who wouldn't be other then maybe the Grinch?

I consider myself quite mellow and somber, and I'm generally repelled by a lot of super 'positive' and 'feel good' music. However this song literally just makes you feel good. That opening guitar riff just sings to you and the musical progression is just so tasteful and catchy you can't help but be uplifted.

My daddy died August 13, 2020. Out of his three kids, I am the youngest at 40. I would sit in his room and he would play The Beatles on records. He had every single album and all their books, etc. He taught me about The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and all the other greats before my time and all from a record player in his bedroom. Thank you, Daddy. :)

I loved The Beatles when I was a little kid and I still love them as a full grown adult. Staying power. You can't take that away from these Liverpool lads. And I can't even pick a favorite song because I love a countless number of them equally. Most bands can't even get 1 favorite song out of me. The Beatles get dozens.

I got into The Beatles because of my dad. I didn’t grow up listening to tracks my dad put on around the house, he wasn’t the type. Rather, I helped my dad re-discover them by downloading their songs on his iPod so he could play them while driving. It was this exchange-young technology meeting old music-that managed to bring us closer to The Beatles and to each other. My dad passed last year but during his wake I made sure to play a lot of Beatles and Bob Marley-only happier tracks, including this one. When I listen to this now, I feel a bit sad but in a warm way. It makes me miss him but also makes me hope that wherever he is, he can hear this song and know that everyone is alright.

#Calling all Beatles fans. I was lucky's enough to see them when they visited Edinburgh . They played a concert in a Cinema called the Regal. Queued all night for the Beatles. When Merseybeat got going a lot of bands came to play in Edinburgh. The Searchers played in a dance club and I was near enough to grab the drummers stick when he rested them. Of course, I did give them back. Happy memories of all of those days. Glad I'm alive to share with you and of course, living at the times in the 60s when the Beatles and Elvis. Sonny and Cher filled the lives of us teenage schoolgirls.

I think this is one of the best songs in this world. I’ve always thought John was the heart of the Beatles. Paul was the brain. George was the spirit. And Ringo was the muscle that made the songs move. 4 powerful components of one incredible band.

I'm 16 and don't worry. My dad (who's 59) has made sure I grew up listening to the music from his era, and so it won't die.

Ringo really holds this beautiful song together....such complex rhythm

When the Beatles first became popular in the US my best friend, who lived across the street was madly in love with them. She played their 🎶 music🎶 all the time. That's how I got introduced to the Beatles. Then I started buying their vinyl records. We had a recreation room with room for 10-15 of us to dance. My mom bought us a stereo system/coffee table with a turn table. It was quite unique, no one had one like it. I'd have all my friends & neighbors over & we'd listen to music & dance. That's when line dancing became popular. We'd watch American Bandstand & learn the latest dance steps. I still love listening to the Beatles & always will. 🌞💗😍🤘🏼✌🏼🕊️🎶

Giles Martin's remix really allows the song to fully blossom. In particular, George's vocal is rightfully in the center, and the stereo spread on the background vocals is glorious.

@@fretbuzz59 Unless done with intent it would be hard to get a bad mix of this song. Remember when this song was first released people were listening to it on a single small crappy dashboard speaker in a car via AM mono... and were still blown away. That said, I had commented some time ago that the production on this version of the song is the best I ever heard. Not sure of why, but my ear doesn't lie.

2:09 what a release! I feel all of my angst just fall away. Jesus it brings a tear to my eye even now. This song is about not giving up hope. Here comes the sun. It isn’t a happy go lucky song about how great the world is. No it’s about how tough and sad it is. It’s such a sad song really. And you truly feel it when you really listen. That line “little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting” is so tragic and hopeful at the same time. That counter melody in the moog that previous build up. I remember sitting down and really listening to this song for the first time and I actually welled up and shed a tear at this exact line. What a cosmic line. What a song. What a band.
