I love so many George and John songs, and when I really think about it.. it's Paul's bass line that made the song. Paul wrote unbelievable songs too... but there seems to almost be something magical about crafting his bass lines to John and George's songs. John said in his very candid and critical 1980 Playboy Interview right before he died, that despite the fact that Paul bragged that he could play every instrument, there was nothing like his bass. John said he was the greatest rock n roll bass player ever and that every bass player since essentially copied and branched off his melodic movements.

And like most kids then I thought the Beatles were so cool. One day I asked my older brother "which one of the Beatles plays the bass?". McCartney", he replied. My reaction was "Woa......! I learned how to play Bass at school in the mid 80's because of the playing that Paul had done, so melodic and interesting for when back in the day when Bass players were supposed to be in the background. Paul is a true master of the low end. Thank you for the two videos as early recordings of the Beatles it is difficult to distinguish the exact bass lines.

"Something" ... Bassline like this.. I guess that's why we the same feel like MLTRs "the actor" and Tears4Fears "head over heels" and so much more. Paul is a great influence.

Excellent collection, and very well-played. Some of Paul's most-overlooked super work was on "Sgt. Pepper" where he would go into the studio alone and overdub bass onto the rhythm track. Great example is on a song that is far from a favorite of mine, "Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds". Go back and listen to the bass line, especially in the last minute or so of the song.
