Maybe you could go to Speed Bump Garage who is the dad of Grow Jack Outdoors and have him look at fix up the Beast. I remember a previous video where they came down to see you and Houston. I would love to see that reunion and they just got a million subscribers so it could help both channels. Take care my friends and stay safe. 😊❤😊

May have told you this before but i will say it again. When the Great depression hit my grandpa had just bought cattle he wasn't going to be able to pay the loan from the bank the cattle were worthless. He found a way and was running trap lines at night cause he had to work the farm during the day. This got the family through the depression and the dust bowl. The farm is still belongs to the family and has for well over 100 years. Have a good night and may your days be blessed stay safe

I've been an rv tech for 18 years. all you need is a stand alone converter for yor van. you plug it in to 110v AC and it produces around 13.5 v DC. this would get you what you are looking for. You will run 2 battery cables from the converter over to your fuse panel.

The hearer needs to be serviced, the carbon build up trips the high limit and kills it due to low exhaust flow.

I agree, I have had other video creators I have watched over the years and most all of them have gone by the wayside for me. Arms Family Homestead is the only one I still watch from my early days of watching videos. I look forward to seeing them every week. I can’t always stop what I am doing immediately but the first chance I get, I watch them. Love them all too no matter the circumstances or content. I have learned so many lessons right along with Houston. The best video creator in my opinion out of the 30 or so I have watched over the past years. Brings me joy and a smile to my face.

You might want to reconsider the spray foam for insulation in the door panels. That’s pretty permanent and you might find you need those places for storage. You could have a seamstress create inserts for those areas that could be removed if needed for storage. That would be the best of both worlds!

Of course it has issues. That’s part of the fun of being a proud owner of an antique vehicle. Just purchased a 2003=Thunderbird, matter of fact I knew there was a problem under the hood. So took it to a mechanic friend, he said the same thing and just wait it out. So I did, my girl caught me off balance twice but not a third. Found someone to work on it and discovered that it was the radiator. She had a crack so got her fixed. This was almost a bucket item for me. Would have preferred a 1956 T-Bird, Teal blue but I am pleased with my little white 2003!!! Oh just for clarity I am a gal, 76 years old!

Paint it blue if you call it the beast, please. I have a blue 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab stepside truck named "The Beast." I used to have a red 1986 Ford Econoline E350 van. Even though the center captain seats would spin around to share the table that was installed between them & the rear seat that also let down into a bed, it was not equipped for camping like yours. I called it "Clifford the Big Red Van."

I would think the buss bar you are trying to connect to is built into the Ecoflow unit. Ecoflow has a great rep for customer service. Give them a call. It may require a different Ecoflow unit or just one of their batteries. You'll still have the flexibility you want and stuff in the van will work. Also, you have a "proper" solar panel cord and I assume the panels are properly connected. Just replace the wire from the panels to the inside.

For that heater, first make sure the unit is getting what it needs to run properly, like a full 12 volts and fuel flow, I assume there is a filter somewhere. There should be a thermocouple like on water heaters that uses a small metal tube that must get hot before it allows fuel flow. Old ovens and water heaters use them so if the pilot light is out, it won't allow gas to flow. Look for a tiny metal tube with a bulbous end. Heat it with a flame and see if it opens. Clean everything you see. I still say you should call it the A Team Machine!

I know you want a camping rig you can trust with all the accessories for food and refrigerator and generator and such. I’ve been there. I’ve spent literally thousands on all the equipment in your van. But, to tell you the truth, it would be a lot cheaper if you just bought a rooftop tent, a fridge cooler, a Coleman stove and a generator. I guarantee you will have more fun camping with no headaches for you and Houston. Keep it simple. My 4x4 2011 Tacoma with the above will take me more places for less money. I’m not trying to be a know it all or impose on you. I enjoy your channel, van or not. Thanks for what you do.

You can also watch Chrome's Vancity Vanlife's videos which talked plenty of inverters, solar powers, heaters and lit batteries. For camping, I think the EcoFlow, Bluetti and Jackery batteries are just fine to use for weekend hunting camping as long you have those solar panels that came with them. By all means take them all out if you choose to do so. If you are planning on LIVING in the van, I would suggest to use those inverter, solar power but buy a better battery for longer life and get that Webasto heater checked out properly. Such a wealth of information on Chrome's channel. The foam, never the spray foam because if you do end up having mold, it will be hard to remove. I remember seeing those stiff pink foam insulation panels with a very good construction glue and gorilla glue was fabulous lol. Every time you use the van for the weekend or week long camping, be sure to open all doors as soon as you can when you get home to let it "air" out. If you do take out the Wabasto heater, you can use a camp heater like Mr Buddy but have to crack your front window for air and less moisture condensation. Good luck, Daniel!

I had an old '75 Plymouth Grand Fury former Detroit police car that I bought with only 48,000 miles on it, for only $600.00. Confidence in Detroit steel was well on the wane. The front bumper was backed with a 2" square channel so they could attach the push bars. The car could plow though anything and I pushed a lot of college buddies home with that beast. It looks like the entire rear bumper assembly needs to go. The tire mount design was a test for metal fatigue, and barely made sense, but that's what was done. The body is in incredible shape, not something seen in Michigan. Good luck 🤞 39:50

Hi Daniel, The van just needs a little tlc.. get an ac to dc converter, will be versatile to work with all your power generators. You will be able to lose some weight getting rid of that battery. Mc4 connections from solar panels. I'd bet the exhaust is clogged on the heater.. Start with the rear bumper mounting, so you have a spare tire and the gas can on the other side is a good idea..

I setup a solar and battery system as a backup at my house and I understand how it all works. The system in the van looks like an ok system if it had good batteries. You could add a battery monitor with shunt to the system to keep track of your battery state of charge. With the existing battery being suspect, that could easily be the problem with your heater as well. When those heaters are starting up, they use a glow plug to get the fire started and it draws a good amount of power. If the glow plug pulls the battery voltage too low, the heater will shut down. Of course it could also be a carbon buildup problem like you said but if you swap in a good battery you could test that out. I know next to nothing about the solar "generators" but before you plug any solar panels into them you need to make sure of the voltage and amperage the panels are capable of putting out and make sure the unit can handle that amount of power. I'm surprised that they don't have a high amp dc output but I definitely didn't see what you'd need on that one.

Good point. Anytime you have a fuel powered heating system a CO Detector is a must.

The 12V output on your Ecoflow is below your AC plugs. It looks like you have two 8mm jacks & a cigarette lighter port. Amazon has cables with an 8mm plug on on end & bare wires on the other end. My Bluetti AC200MAX has a 12V 10 amp total limit from the 8mm & cigarette lighter ports. It also has a 12V 30A RV port that could tie directly into your 12V system.

Propane heaters pump out a ton of water vapor. In a wooden building isn't a problem for a short time. In a closed up van in cold weather will condense on cold surfaces.

Daniel, we have those type of traps. The newer traps you used I have never seen before lol Of course, I'm 59. One of my sons uses those traps of my daddy's now. I remember Daddy "boiling" his traps. You brought back some precious memories of my times trapping with daddy and helping him. Thank you!

Daniel my grandfather use to soak his traps in the water after he boiled walnuts,it kept them from rusting, also for the time being until you get the cluster fixed you can download a speedometer on your phone and it will tell you how many miles you traveled.

Although I kidded you about the Toys R Us name change for the homestead, I think a camper van can offer many possibilities. We purchased a Chevy pop top camper and took a 4500 mile tour of the western states and national parks one summer and it was a fantastic family experience. The van with a propane 3 burner stove, water tank and ice box (not refrigerator) met our family of three’s needs. We later use it for shorter weekend trips. Simple is fine. Enjoy your time camping with Houston.

The webasto heater mostly just needs a cleanup, and there are videos online that will show you how it's done, so if you feel like doing a little mechanic work, go ahead and try it out, or get someone else to fix it for you, and you can play with the excavator instead.

@Daniel find an Emergency Vehicle Tech that knows ambulance service that’s where a lot of the wiring options are. In a previous life, I believe that was its 2nd birth. I have worried about this since you first showed it. I was among several that was following the sale on FB. And not even attempting a purchase. Good luck and prayers.

We had a 85 with sliding side door. 3 grandsons and 2 adult's had a heck of a good time in there. And it stayed pretty cool we took it mining in the summer in fall we used the buddy heater. The boys were sad when we sold it. Ours you could stand up in with a bed over the front and bunks in the back. You'll have fun

Your Should Put a Second Deisal Tank, For your Heater. So you can fill it on the outside and keep the fuel out of the van .
