That's a good point. Sydney is a great character and may have even more to lose than Richie but her story arc hasn't been as strong. I don't think that one episode of her taste testing her way around Chicago really added much to her story, unlike what Marcus and Richie got.

Another great react! I'm with Mikel-Claire - I'm uneasy about the Claire character and storyline. I wonder if the close up shots are to show that when they're together, everything else melts away? To me it's claustrophobic but it could also read as romantic. Sydney is providing a lot of support to Carmy but not getting much back. I hate that. She deserves better.

Carmen needs to get so serious about supporting Sydney because first, he ditches her in episode three; and then he hasn’t called the fridge guy for the entire season and then; he tells her “no I’ll think about chaos menu” and then; he kicks her, Natalie and Richie out when they’re trying to sort out the restaurant electricity issue while he went to A HOUSE PARTY ALL DAY then; he doesn’t even talk to her about the fact that he’s gonna go back to chaos menu. Instead he comes out with drawings and constantly says “Claire said 12345”, instead of the person who’s actually going to be leading the people cooking, he makes the entire menu with someone who, no offence, has no experience with professional cooking. He pissed me off this season by shoving my girl and the restaurant HE asked HER to open with him aside, and making her faith in him so shaky. Richard had one scene with Sydney and he’s been there more supportive her than her supposed partner. Carmy and Sydney really have to talk instead of using the “I’m sorry we’ll talk about this later“ sign as a way of delaying and then never talking about or continuing the conversation. I love how you guys are so keenly aware about the show and its usage of symbolism. It’s just wonderful to listen to your thoughts and watch you watch it

I personally like Claire’s character a lot. In my opinion, she offers Camry some normalcy away from the hectic environment of the kitchen. I think Claire brings a great addition to Camrys life and allows him some peace outside of his daily stress. I will say, in addition to this. I like that Syd addresses the issue of Carmys full focus and how he is not prioritizing the restaurant. Although I like Claire, I believe she is also somewhat of a distraction.
