I had no idea!
So, a few interesting tidbits I've found out since finishing this series.. 1. Jeremy Allen White and Ayo (Carmy and Syd) actually spent time attending culinary institutes so that they could do all the prepwork n stuff themselves. All the close up shots of their hands chopping veggies is THEIR hands. You can even see celery stuck to the knife during dialogue scenes, So 2. They were actually using REAL knives during filming. 3. Not only is Fak an actual restaurateur, but he's Canadian too. He has multiple restaurants and was also a consultant on the show, as well as the director's wife, who is also a chef. 4. Jeremy Allen White kept Carmy's se1 monologue in his back pocket all during filming, as a constant reminder of his character's motivations. And 5. Jeremy also consulted with a tattoo artist friend to personally design all of Carmy's tats. There's so much more, they put so much into this show. And it was well worth it.
It’s kinda amazing to see how much Ritchies character has developed from the first season I totally get Sydney’s frustration with carmy like why are you discussing ideas about the restaurant with Claire than your actual business partner

I hated Richie in season 1. I don't anymore.
not Bryce saying "is that an ex boyfriend" when it was Sydney's dad lol
“everybody’s gonna be on their A-game” carmy in episode 10: 🤬😰🥶😖

I also realized a more subtle callback to Carmy being unfocused was the lighting in Cicero's table during the restau opening, they mention that it's too harsh and in the end of this one Richie wanted his help about it.
The Pepto is to mitigate the stomach’s response to stress Sustained anxiety and stress can stimulate the stomach to secrete more acid; pepto is an alkaline solution that will help bring the stomach back up to a less extreme pH
I believe what he yelled, "Jewish Lightning" and being told he can't say it... it was an old term referencing an idea that Jewish business owners would burn their business for insurance money and claim it was lightning that hit it. So, a bit of a racial slur for arson, which Mikey tried to do.

yeah, it was referencing episode 1 of the season whne we found that out because syndey fell through the wall and ritchie explained what mikey's plan had been

I mean, it's not a slur per se but it's definitely antisemitic. Which is why when Richie brings it up in the first episode Sydney tells him off, first for using the term, and then for explaining what it means. Then of course when fak figures it out this episode, he's so excited he just repeats it
The pesto bismal us for nauseous and upset stomach which comes in a lot if your high stressed and eating/tasting a lot of different foods
This episode had me so happy. I am just so proud of them. But these last few episodes, I feel the proudest of Richie. His character development is INCREDIBLE and such a fun thing to watch.
Sydney was explaining herself while y’all were tryna talk over her😅😂😂😂

Things have been going too well. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. That said, if you like feel good cooking films, would recommend John Favreau’s Chef (2014). Great film.

Pepto: Settles the stomach under stress
As a 12 yr retired senior surgical tech. I am LAUGHING at how these writers fkd up....emergency / trauma / residents / Drs / surgeon, staff DO 👏🏻 NOT 👏🏻 HAVE 👏🏻 FREE 👏🏻TIME. Carmys girlfriend flunked our or quite the program or isn't real 😂 Two. Chefs who have a vested interest in the restaurant DO NOT HAVE FREE TIME. They livelihood depends on their investment.
you sweet summer children and your confusion about the pepto swilling... please stay that way forever
