The Battle Of The Year | Worlds '23 | Pt. 5

Watch the -89kg category | tv.weightliftinghouse.com/pro...
Incredible lifting in the training hall at the world weightlifting championships 2023 as we approach the highly anticipated -89kg category. With athletes like Tian Tao, Li Dayin, Antonino Pizzolato, Keydomar Vallenilla, Marin Robu and Arley Mendez throwing down, it looks to be an incredible session. Don't miss it!

heres what happend in the 89s: 1. tian could only snatch once missed the other 2 attempts and missed all c&j attempts. 2. nino missed all 3 snatches and bombed out. 3. li dayin had a an injury in his palm and got a silver in snatch but still wasn't his best performance. 4. mendez name was in the list but he didn't show up. 5. no idea about karlos nasar. 6. keydomar was amazing. 7. found out that rostami is now retired.

Karlos is still recovering his strength which he lost a bit of due to his injury, so he opted to sit out this competition. He showed up bc everyone who wants to be in the Olympics has to show up at Worlds, whether or not they're in the top 10. Hope that helps. :)

I really hate how the Olympics only allows one lifter per Country to qualify for the Olympics. I feel like it'll steer away competition for some weight categories when that day begins. I rather see three Chinese athletes battle it out for the podium than see athletes get an easy win. I bet the 2023 and 2025 World Championships will be more exciting than 2024 Olympic weightlifting.

Lol, that's the entire reason why they changed that policy. They DON'T want China medaling more. If it was the US dominating weightlifting, I guarantee you there would be 10 more weight classes added and you can send as many athletes as you want. Think I'm full of shit? IOC wanted to remove weightlifting and wrestling from the Olympics and replace it with MORE events in 2 sports... I'LL LET YOU GUESS which ones. Answer: They wanted to add 3v3 basketball and EVEN MORE swim events. Guess who medals in those Luckily, there was heavy global pushback against removing weightlifting and wrestling. So now, they're trying to just destroy the sport instead to lower viewership so they can have a pretext for removing the sport from the olympics in 2032

In actual fact, the Oly qualifcation criteria is even worse than 1 per country. You're only allowed the enter a max of 3 athletes per gender across all 5 weight categories. Therefore, whilst China have the number 1 ranked lifter in all 5 women Olympic categories (49kg, 59kg, 71kg, 81kg, 81kg+), they can still only take 3, which means at least 2 of the women 2024 Olympic gold medalists will not be the world number 1.

@@user-tz9jh6pv2j So it seems that you agree with me. IOC cares too much about Country than competition. Weightlifting in the Olympics will not be exciting because the IOC gave up on that sport. The pride it has in World Championships will most certaintly not die though.

It's not a gym per say (I mean technically it is lol) but it's called the training hall. It happens at every major competition. Basically athletes from every country fly in days before the competition (like a week or something) and train at the training hall together. Media take videos, photos etc. so we can get to know the athletes a bit, see in what shape they are etc. Same thing at the olympics. Great sport indeed when you get into it 👍🏻
