A very good job performed by Regia Marina. I must point that supplies were also carried by sea to Greece, diverting naval assets from supplying North Afrika. At the end of the day the small distances (compared to Pacific and Atlantic convoys) And small African ports contributed to smaller convoys with little time on the sea, which helped reaching destination safely despite all the shortcomings that Regia Marina faced

Even the convoy delivery figures for 1943 are respectable, considering the disadvantages the Regia Marina labored under.

Haha re-watching this vid. Love when you’re on Drach’s channel, you two bounce off of each other really well, one of his best guests in my opinion.

@@Italian_Military_Archives thank you for responding. Could I prevail upon you to address the question of the apparent lack of interest in developing sensor technology like radar and sonar eventually.

@@CAP198462 Hi! well it's a complex thing... regarding the radar development I am still doing some research because I am not super knowledgeable. Regarding sonar, you can check this article I recently published: comandosupremo.com/antisubmarine-capabilities-of-the-regia-marina-in-ww2/

I find interesting how the regia marina had outfitted Tobruk and the east Africa base so well before the war. If they knew that it was unlikely to be defendable I wonder why they built those large bases and planned to place squadrons there. Also the failure to recall the merchant fleet was a big oof Cavagnari was a bit of a dreamer I suppose.

Good video, the charts show most supplies transported by Italy arrived. I wonder what would an Allied chart look like for Battle of The Atlantic 🤔
