I was a member of a chamber choir over 20 years ago, and this was one of our favorite pieces. I've heard this done by quite a few choirs and I can tell you this is one of the best renditions I've ever heard.

I believe this is one of the original Moses Hogan Chorale recordings.

As a person who had to sing soprano 2 on this song…the man had it out for us, but it was the most fun I ever had

im about to do the same thing for UIL this year… please tell me it gets less uncomfortable lol. this piece is gorgeous but that 2nd soprano part is quite hectic in isolation :’)

I had the privilege of working with him at an "all-state" clinician level and later as a soloist in the Moses Hogan Chorale. He was a genius...but, he was a wonderful, kind man who was a cheerleader for everyone in his corps... I still listen to his works in honor of his memory.

I have to say, this is the cleanest version of this song I have ever heard. The choir inserts tiny breaks before words and most syllables that make it sparkle. They were impeccable on their entrances, and I could hear every part in perfect balance. This has to be the definitive version of the Battle of Jericho. Bravo!

It’s just WOW!!! Moses Hogan a music genius!!

I performed this song in the AMEA Arizona All-State High School Honor Choir last spring, and it was by far the favorite of almost everyone in the ensemble. Such a catchy, memorable piece, with a really fun Bass II part.

The Cache Valley Men's Chorus (based out of Logan, UT) performed a TTBB arrengement of this throughout the '22-'23 season! It was absolutely an audience favorite!

I was in grad school when our choral director took us to the chapel to sing this piece and then he told us the sad news that Moses Hogan has passed away the day before.

I sang this at the Louisiana All State performance in Baton Rouge some 20 plus years ago. Good times.

I saw the All State Senior Mixed Choir present this song at an All State second audition workshop 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌

I heard a story about Moses Hogan being an All-State Clinician for Louisiana All-State Choir. He was doing this song and couple of others he had just wrote. The choir was majority white people. During the rehearsals they kept asking why did he use this word instead of using this word and why the diction was this way instead what they consider to be correct English. He finally got tired of them asking an answered, "Back then, when our ancestors were slaves, they weren't allowed to read or write. So they use letters they were only allow to learn, that is why it is written this way." After that no else asked another question and they went on to perform and had a great concert.

Lol because it's not talking about him "fighting" but being the perfect "fit" for this battle. Think when your clothes are good for you, they "fit" you. It's that concept that is being expressed: Joshua was the right person for fighting this battle
