    Well to be fair, ArmA 3 being in the Milsim spectrum can really catch the reality of war where most of the time your either conducting light patrols or guarding an objective. But although just like real war, ArmA does a good job at making the most chaotic and natural engagements the most memorable, especially when it’s on a online game lol

    AMAZING! Fallschirmjager versus Airborne. For a brief passage of time, it was not 2021, but June of 1944 and seeing both the pained faces and contortions of wounded and piles of dead men on both sides reminds the viewer of the "Butcher's bill" but also in how so very gritty and real close quarters combat is. The PzKw V Panther emerging into the battle freaked the heck out of me in how much carnage it inflicted onto the Airborne. How ironic this "snapshot" moment is like so many times during the ETO when the German high command threw in Panthers to turn around combat inside the cities. Two examples are in Southern France where the 11th Panzer Division tried to slow up the advancing American forces ripping apart Army Group G and the other was the last ditch battles in 1945 as the Allies captured Cologne. End result: burnt out tanks and dead crews. Well Done!

    Really ? Not veteran of the WWII... because you would know that "Mister handgrenade is your friend", and that fallchirmjager where hard handgrenade users. This essential tool for WWII fighting is absolutly absent and you say "I'm veteran, it's the closest depiction" ? I'm not veteran and I can say it's purely a virtual fiction depicted by a person born after 1990 and more used with video games than history books/veteran talks.

  • @hetzerwesson

    @hetzerwesson

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@BFVK There is no doubt that you are not a veteran. If you did serve in combat, you would know that supplies were sketchy at times and you had to fight with what was available, including captured enemy equipment and stores. Any combat veteran, from any era has experienced this. If you haven't served, then you do not deserve, to run your month about a topic that is far beyond your simple understanding.

  • @BFVK

    @BFVK

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@hetzerwesson No I'm not a veteran and you are not historian. Come on, it's a film made by a young guy with a video game as support. It's a real work but don't pretend it's so accurate. Out of supply at the point that nobody as a single handgrenade ? No US grenade while it's the begining of the campaign, the para just landed, you are serious ? And you going to tell me that Van der Heydte had Panther in his fallschirm regiment 6 ?

  • @hetzerwesson

    @hetzerwesson

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@BFVK This battle took place after the U.S. para assault. The 6th Fallschmirjager was alerted to advance and try to make contact with a shore battery. They were unable to do so, because of the American Para assault. They then fell back to Carentan. Supply shortages was common among all German units during the Normandy Battle. Due to Allied Air Supremacy. The 6th held out as long as possible, including a counter attack with assault guns. This was defeated and they withdrew. My point is that death does not care who you are. This video shows that stark reality. Once combat is joined, there is no turning back, ready or not.

    I love coming back and watching this short every couple of months. And, it is upon this rewatch, as well as knowing that you have/had been playing brothers in arms that got me to see the little easter eggs, or attention to detail you had in here. For example, there is the adherence to use hand signals in brothers in arms, and Im glad i got to see them here. AS well as my final realization that Sgt. Matthew Baker was actually featured in your little short film here. In fact, at 10:42 you can see him clearest, as his signature scar gives him away. Excellent work. I love this animation.

    I remember watching the Carentan episode of Band of Brothers. Your version is more brutal than the miniseries episode.

  • @JohnDoe-wt9ek

    @JohnDoe-wt9ek

    The Miniseries episode is more true to the reality than what this version portrays. Up to and including a random Tiger Tank. The 101st elements taking Carentan were facing a rear guard element of 2 battalions from the 6th Regiment, 2nd Fallschirmjager Division, alongside 2 Ost battalions. The SS Panzergrenadiers (17th SS Panzergrenadiers to be exact) were delayed by Allied air power and transportation issues. Hence why we see the armored elements show up after the taking of Carentan, rather than during the assault to take said town and its important crossroads. Its even noted, in the book Band of Brothers, that Carentan fell surprisingly fast despite being held by German Paratroopers... The real issue wasn't even armor or the rear guard elements, but the German artillery providing a form of "shield" against any maneuvers by the 101st Airborne.

    @@JohnDoe-wt9ek Yeah and the book portrays this better than the mini series does. What kinda bothers me a little bit though is how people assume when the Americans actually went through the town on the initial assault they were facing a rear guard from the paratroopers. A handful of them refused to give up in the house which they were actually able to buy time for the rest of the German force to fall back and regroup to launch a counter attack.

    This is was made in 2020 but feels like It came out in Machinima in 2007. Just the CoD sound effects... It really brings me back. Also the shaky cam and the camera angles reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan.

    Artistic people create content it's a battle from inside. It has to to be created it has to come out. It's not for the Viewers it gets made. BUT viewers will take it to the cream at the top or it will fall off out of sight. This is Cream at the top. The artist is never happy with the work she/he is always fighting inside over how to push the birth of a creations vision to be even better never feeling it has ever been finished. Never thinking about how good it truly is to others. Thank You for this Creations Birth and your fight in it's Vision development for my eyes to enjoy.
